I have a friend from Sicily. He’s a big dude, not as tall as Gitano, but But he’s round like a meatball. He acts just like him and makes the same eyes and expressions. Everything he does is over exaggerated
I agree that there are goofy elements of this show. It's like when you watch some old timey movies depicting the 1920s where the characters (gents and flappers) are over the top, even though this is the 1950s. That's the feeling I get too. Currently on ep. 7 and that feeling doesn't go away. The storyline itself is pretty good, but I get what Formal is saying.
Chris Rock's speech about planning into the future when you're out of survival mode is a good bit. (It's easier said than done to get there though, when you're stuck in a rut. Small positive steps is the way.)
Season 4 leans too hard into comedy for me. Season 3 is the bleakest Season and I think the writers felt that Season 3's drop in ratings had something to do with that, so they decided to amp up the comedy this time.
It is a messy season. Some great bits. Interesting time period / location. I didn't find 'starey eyes' guy a problem when I watched. Didn't love him though either!
