Drone footage capturing a Farmall 350 pulling an IH model 80 pull behind combine. This setup is using a custom fabricated hitch to pull the wagon alongside so unloading on the go is possible. This soybean harvest takes place in Central Iowa.
More drone footage of harvesting with the pull behind combine is available below:

Super video! Thank you for posting it! I Found a Farmall 350 diesel years ago and talked the owner into letting me get it running and use it. It was a blast to work on and get running, I nicknamed it Frankenstein! It's amazing to see your tractor at work, I didn't know it could pull a combine and a wagon that is awesome! I have one request, if you post future videos could you record video it be great to hear that red tractor running!

See what people don't realize is that equipment only became obsolete because the companies quit making parts for them it wasn't because they weren't working or weren't good equipment it was because they discontinued the parts manufacturing and once they do that you have to buy a bigger equipment or buy a different piece of equipment unless of course you have 50 or 60 used one sitting in a back a lot so you can pull parts off of
@farmerboybill
@farmerboybill 3 года назад
I disagree. Manufacturers were and are constantly trying to keep up with the ambition of the purchaser, and were usually just a little bit behind what farmers wanted. That is why there were tandem hitch tractors in the 1950's, for example. Manufacturers weren't keeping up with the power needs of the farmer, so the farmers built them. As the farms grew, the equipment grew. As the demand for smaller equipment lessened, production stopped. After production stops, manufacturers are legally required to stock parts for 15 years. After that, it's their choice. Inventory costs money, so parts get eliminated as the demand for them goes down. You can walk into a John Deere dealership and get parts for a 60 year old 4020, but that is Deere's choice. You cannot go into a Deere dealership and get parts for a 40 year old 1050. The difference? Lots of 4020s were made and parts still sell well, versus many less 1050s bought from Yanmar, so not much demand for parts. The setup this fellow has is great, but you won't find much demand to mass produce it, at least in the US. Countries such as India and China, this would be considered huge equipment. Until it isn't. Also, in my experience, if you have 50 worn out combines out back, you have 50 worn out combines. They all wear in the same spots.

They also made one that was powered by a Cub engine instead of a PTO. Also instead of dumping into a bin it dumped into an operators platform that had a feed bag setup. You hung two bags, dumped into one which when full the operator would switch to the other bag, tie the full bag shut, dump it down a slide, hang an empty bag then repeat. It was a hot dirty job. How do I know? Being 14 I was the bagger and full bag picker upper. We went to a bin type when I turned 18.
