no farms, no food. People are seriously deluded if they think trump cares about people., especially workers. His whole life....has been spent getting more of everything for himself, and less for everybody else.
jes the worker just to work like a slave, but not to rise up because he is poor and being exploited. while the capitalist billionaires, are powerful and rich. regards
SEXY246 Yes, save the farmer by selling out the white American workers. And don’t say, Mexicans do jobs the American white people wont do, that’s bullshit. The USA government gives federal funding to companies through the WOTC tax incentive if they hire Mexicans and other immigrants over white working class. Look it up if you think I’m lying. Mexicans have taken over the construction industry because why hire white working class when you can hire Mexican for the same money but get money back from the USA government ? This is what killed the middle class. Companies are making millions from hiring Mexicans instead of white American working class.
@@sonhungkim5636 Right. I was thin back when I worked the fields as a teenager. I later went to college, got. My degree and 3 certificates. I retired after teaching 36 years. It is hard work!!!
Look at them, showing their names and their faces on TV. They know that they're safe. Where are all of these 'rule of law' anti-illegal-immigration people while there are *literal lawbreakers* broadcasting their faces and names on TV? *There* are the lawbreakers, *right there!* Are they calling the police or what?! I bet not...
yup...the easy answer if Trump deport those workers out of US then the farm will be gone too...so let Trump adm reconsider his strict immigration policy about deportation since the immigrant workers are the backbone of the businness farm
Most of the jobs in the plains states is farm work and it's being done by Native Americans. However, California is close to the southern border and it's easy to get migrant labor from mexico.
There not that rich hun you gotta think how much they charge to ship em were their going taxes on sales land n all the above the government charges for everything.
Why don't our 15 to 18s do this work? Seems like it creates value in life. Reinforce the value of education by putting teenagers to work so they know what the market is like and what kind of work ethic is necessary
I’m 18 now I been working in the fields every summer since I was 10 both parents work in the fields. I’m going to the marines working in the fields got me really strong and more athletic then the others at school I did wrestling I won almost every match I was just more physical and mentally fit. It was very hard working in the fields as a kid but I had to help my parents.
1990's there was a survey at collages around the country and simply asked. If we get ride of all illegal immagrants. Will you go to work in the fields? They said, not no but hell no. They claimed that the reason they went to school was never to work at a hard labor job. When asked, Who will work in the fields then? They said, Criminals should be made to work not people with good lives. It became a question of "them" not immigration. Finally, at the end they said. Let some stay. . no explination
$20 an hour to pick fruit is very high wages for that kind of job. It's about half of what an electronics tech makes here in California. In fact, you might see a lot of Californians headed your way if the state keeps raising taxes through the roof.
@BlackSun Bullshit Alabama , sweet potato farmers are losing their farms and their. Crops bc they cant get workers....Southerners all All Obese and have Diabetes they cant walk 20 feet without oxygen
The ones that works these farms during harvest season are actually Migrants. Not immigrants. They are given work permits to come for seasonal work and when done they go home. They do this every year at harvest time. If they are "afraid" it's because some one sold them a load of crap. And trying to sell you the same crap One farmer even said their problem is not enough water for the crops. Doesn't seem to be a shortage in stores.
I can hardly wait to see the new employment that Donald is bringing to the US of A by getting Yankees to take these farm jobs. Pay enough for labour and the workers will come (and the price of food will go up incredibly) This is the Great that Donny was talking about?
did you hear what they say ? FARM WORKERS PRODUCES BILLIONS OF DOLLARS AROUND THIS COUNTRY ! EVEN IF YOU WORK AT AN OFFICE DRINKING COFFEE YOUR JOB COULD BE THE NEXT ! THE ECONOMY COULD COLLAPSE ! IF YOU COURSE THE FARM WORKERS YOU ARE COURSING THE LAND THAT FEEDS YOU, THE LAND BELONGS TO THOSE THAT WORK ON IT, EVEN IF YOU ARE A TELEVISION BROAD CASTER IT IS ONLY A MATTER OF TIME BEFORE YOU LOSE YOUR JOB, DO SOMETHING DON,T JUST STAND AROUND !! FARMERS !! HEAR ME OUT ! IF YOU LOSE YOUR FARM YOUR FAMILY WILL BE HUNGRY ! A FAMINE COULD KILL MILLIONS OF PEOPLE, HAVE YOU BEEN HUNGRY BEFORE ?? I DID AND FAINTED BEFORE THE SCHOOL MATES. BUT IF YOU DON,T CARE ABOUT YOUR OWN FAMILY ! GOOD LUCK THEN ! MAY GOD BLESS YOU,
These farmers are whining here and this is even before the disastrous, uninformed and ignorant Trump tariffs. You are getting exactly what Trump said he would do! When in California the only people I see bent over are the brown people. You could pay very high and still never see a white face in those fields! Your messiah Trump has taken your workforce away; as he said he would! The amount of time and effort to recover from this; not just in the fields but with the banks, insurance and logistics will be astronomical, sadly in some cases non recoverable. Perhaps next time have a look at 'all' the issues and cast your vote.
Listen up farmers. Let me solve this problem you have. Ask your state governor to get non threat state prisoners to pick your fields. Pay each prisoner 50 cents an hour. The other $4.50 goes to the state for education or child support. Problem solved all around many topics.
I've always found it so odd when people go on about how honest these people are when the people they are talking about are committing a crime a crime every second. Some one once asked me "If twenty years ago some one committed a burglary to feed their family, do I think they should have to go to prison now" To which I answered "May be not after all twenty years ago they did not get caught. But if they are still doing it today and every day for the last twenty years then yes". The crime does not end the day they come in, every second after that they are still committing a crime. You do not just let the burglar off when they have left the house and if they are caught in the house what kind of person keeps going on how honest they are?
They have tried that already and you see what's happening. They came in the country with special work visas to help the farmers in California, now they are in North Carolina taking jobs from natural citizens of this state. We gave inch they took a mile.
If they followed the law and never employed illegal immigrants to begin with, it would be a non-issue. I get it, why pay someone $10 an hour if you can get someone else to do it for $7.00 (just making up numbers). But if you break the law to save the money, sorry, no sympathy from me.
I worked custom combining crews for years and never met a foreign born harvester. Today, it is common for custom crews to include European, South African, Australian and South American students. Why, U.S. college students don't realize the modern $300.000 computerized combines have air-conditioned cabs, with stereo, constant two-way communication and hot meals three times daily -- with air-conditioned sleeping quarters. No sleeping under the combine in a bedroll, no going to the barber shop in town once weekly for a shower and no standing on an open combine platform in heat, dirt and wheat chaff.
The United Farm Workers Union won;t allow Americans to do those jobs. Those jobs are reserved for people of Mexican or South American ethnicity. In fact, the California Department Of Corrections sent low risk prison inmates to do farm work and the union demanded that it be stopped. The reason is that it was taking jobs away from people from south of the border. In other words, it was reverse discrimination.
NewsNowILLINOIS MarkPullen Yeah, because a single teenage mom would make a great farm worker... You idiots literally would do anything to defend your RACIST policies.
Hommieside187 You're a fuckin idiot...We're talking about EMPLOYED, undocumented workers, none of these people need welfare. Lazy white people are on welfare. Undocumented immigrants fuel this countries agricultural labor force...
You got that right. I used to work in the elevator business and most of the workers are members of the International Union Of Elevator Constructors (IUEC). That union has got to be the worst of the worst. If a non union contractor works on anything to do with an elevator, someone from the IUEC must 'standby" on the job site to collect wages for not doing anything. if you don;t believe it, I saw this in the IUEC contract.
they can hire many homeless Americans on skid row or other homeless camps to work on farms......this in turn also lower drug use and crime.....problem solved
Most homeless got that way because of the sky high cost of housing and it doesn't have anything to do with how hard they work. Furthermore, farm work is not as tough as immigrant labor supporters make it out to be. There are many jobs that are much worse than farm labor and I used to work as an industrial electronic tech that was out in the street and out in traffic in all kinds of weather. Picking fruit is a cake walk compared to getting down on the pavement with cars and trucks whizzing by your head.
The United Farm Workers Union won't allow anyone but mexicans, hispanics, or latinos to be employed in farm labor. It's a form of affirmative action reserved for people of south american ethnicity.
My girls daughter did this job in Pa 8 an hour bad work conditions, no medical when hurt she got bill. no rights to fight it . But the poor farmers bleeding system right?????? How about the poor tax payers paying the rest of the bill.
I had audio problems when van Jones spoke when they were in the fields I'm assuming it's as a result of the wind. It's pretty incredible, also the farmer is very intelligent and seems like a great guy and I hope the workers will be okay as a result of Donald's incompetence.
FAMINE IS APPROACHING AND IT IS CALLED ( SOYLENT GREEN ) HAVE YOU SEEN THE MOVIE ? THAT IS LIKELY TO HAPPEN ! IF YOU DO NOT BELIEVE ME - TAKE A LOOK AT VENEZUELA !MADURO IS A HARD HAD ,THAT BASTARD IS KILLING HIS OWN PEOPLE, ONE PIECE OF GARBAGE IS RUINING VENEZUELA,S ECONOMY,
Even Midwestern growers have depended on migrant workers, as have several of the larger farmers in this area. The Agriculture Department has no valid connection to the producers who depend upon migrant labor, from the Chesapeake Bay crab industry, to the Midwest farmers and growers, to the California and Florida vegetable and fruit growers. The monetary loss will be astronomical!
Ten million illegal immigrants they all don't work on farms. They are not all Mexican s they come from all around the world just as they always have. Most come in on Visas and overstay thier visas
The hardest working people of America. Low wages long hours in the richest country in the world. Those of you who are quick to preach hate toward these people, have the balls to do the work these people do.
Why can't the workers have work visa for the season. Because they don't want to be accountable to the US government and they come and go and their kids go to school and get free medical. Do it legally. We will pay more at the store but would not have to support their families. They should be afraid they have been exploting our country.
First off, I grew up on a farm with migrant workers harvesting our crops and guess what? They came in legally! California ruined that by ignoring the legal papers needed to come over here and work. The families that used to come over obtained temporary work permits and visas just to work the harvest season. Second, California is slowly choking out the farmers, refusing water, not Washington, California and this didn't just happen, happened years ago. Third, they are building homes and communities over the farmland, not on land that has no use but farmland. It will not matter soon what the illegals do, no water, no crops, no harvest, no life. The government in California also has been using "eminent domain" to take farmlands for private usage, for the betterment of society. This ia a mute argument anymore.
Trick Q lmfao I use to do it as a kid as well hay bails feed the chickens etc. you realize America started out with not slaves but very very large families so kids can do this in the summer ? Why kids even have a summer vacation originally to work the fields
Why do we not complain when our companies went overseas for cheap labor our framers become bigger because of cheap labor there are cities with people, they didn't run away from their Job their Job ran away from them it went across the border (our borders, land and Sea)
Work visa isnt something you can get for picking fruits and vegetables , not easy to get unless you are so skilled and if one is so skilled than why would he pick fruits Makes no sense
Farm labor is already being replaced by mechanization. Do a search for "Melonator Harvester" and you can see the latest innovation in picking watermelons. However, the United Farm Workers Union (that was founded by Cesar Chavez) is protesting the increased use of machines because it's putting migrant laborers out of work.
the farmers want them make them pay the medical and taxs and better housing for them and its no longer cheap labor, Then see what they want give them the bill not tax payers
If they have employment issues, then the business obviously has to be revamped. People have to pay more, vegetables and fruits become more valuable and treasured, but people would rather pay more than what has happened. The nonsense about Americans not willing to work is nonsense.
Living in California farm-based communities for four decades, simple reality is that American born citizens will not perform agricultural labor. Do not expect 2nd to 20th generation U.S. citizens to get on their knees and pick strawberries, raspberries, bunch carrots and radishes, or stoop to cut asparagus or work at breakneck speed for ten hours straight within a worker-coop crew harvesting lettuce, broccoli, cauliflower or celery. In California, Arizona and North Carolina, these immigrant workers are paid up to $300 daily. The least pay for the most work is within the small specialty growers, who hire piece rate workers. Sadly, many of those small growers are tightly contracted with major shippers and take advantage of their own people -- latinos directly hiring latinos within a corrupt system controlled by multi-million dollar corporations, with wealthy white Republican owners living in distant cities. Carolina Christmas Tree and Tobacco growers cannot survive without Latino workers.
Someone please explain how population increase, reduces the number of available jobs. And if that were the case, wouldn't there now be near 99.9% unemployment without immigration? The only way to fix the immigration problem, is to face reality; that what we are doing, not only doesn't work, it costs a fortune and makes the problem worse. Say nothing of causing mass suffering and the devaluation of wages for working people. Easy fix- Make the only requirement for entering and staying in the country, obtaining a no-cost ID/ passport with taxpayer number. Give everyone a free background check and put a tracking device in the ID. Now there will be no more excuses to not be "documented" and no more excuses for employers to hire "undocumented" (like Trump did until he got caught). Taxes can then be collected from them to cover all non-citizens. Problem solved.
put the native American to work in the farm picking fruits and vegetables under the hot sun during 10hours to make a minimum wage. put the native American to work as a bricklayer under the hot sun during 10 hours every day to make a minimum wage
this is were you start making these rich farmers pay a decent wage, hire citizens and pay the correct money.these farmers have been getting away with slavery for many years.THANK YOU PRESIDENT TRUMP
Question for all of us LEGAL AMERICANS! Would you go out and pick apples, grapes or anything else even Tomatoes in the HOT SUN for less than Poverty Money? Just asking a question, I am a legal American but I am not for or against, I am just asking Legal Americans, WOULD YOU DO THIS?
What they complaining for as soon as robots come available these people are gone. The reason they complain is because the farmers want it both ways. Illegal find out a plant job pays more they leave the feilds.
We have prisoners who sit around all day and do nothing. We pay for their upkeep in the amount around $60,000 a year!!! Put them to work in the agriculture industry!!!
I'm coming to bring a bunch of an Americans that need a job let's see what you pay him Americans do want to work the Farms but you need to pay them the farmers have been getting rich with low pay immigrants
Wenyi Yang , why not use state non threat prisoners instead. Pay the state for their labor. That can be used for education programs or child support. Just an idea.
A new bracero program will be done with NAFTA negotiations. The new Asian immigrants are too educated and the whites do not want to do the job, but somebody has to do it.
