I was surprised the JoJo's collab with Perfect Suit FActory wasn't on here with how iconic they are within the anime community on RU-vid.

The problem with Anime inspired clothes is that designers go for the most common denominator in terms of imagery. The best designs are the ones that are minimalist and/or a deep cut to the series' story. Like Christian was saying about Dragon Ball for example. Goku on a shirt might do okay but having just the Capsule Corp logo looks 10x better. Another one would be one piece. They have in-universe high fashion brands so a big fan will definitely comment if you're wearing Crimin or Doskoi Panda in real life

2 reasons why the Akira x Supreme collab is misunderstood. If you actually get the pieces in every panel the characters are wearing supreme or interacting with the supreme logo. Like Tetsuo is wearing Supreme. Which is wild considering how logo heavy Kaneda's bike is. In fact there is a video on RU-vid where Otomo is wearing Supreme talking about Akira. Its completely realistic the characters of Akira would actually wear Supreme or that Supreme would exist at all in their universe. The second reason is that Akira in reality doesn't have that much official merch or collabs in general. Literally 99% of Akira merch are bootlegs. Which is insane considering how much "merch" is out there when you shop online.* *Just read a newish interview with Otomo. Otomo recalled that he was approached multiple times by someone at Supreme to do the collab and after a long time he finally gave in. So combine that with the fact that there wasn't Akira merch to begin with we're lucky to even have it at all. So it may be "lazy" to do some minor edits he clearly wasn't pressed to give his fans anything at all in regards to official merch/collabs in general. Akira came out in 1982 and its amazing that we got something in 2017. The Akira x Supreme collection is only going to get more and more special as years pass.

So what I’m hearing is, we WON’T be getting merch with chibi versions of you all but there’s potential for merch with a manga panel with you all in it? Lol But yes, PLEASE do another one of these! You all are always so entertaining and bring me so much laughter. Thanks a ton for posting again!

My favorite type of anime chothes is when the basic designs of a character get applied to clothing in a minimalist fashion This is why the EVA ones are my favorite out of this bunch because they don't just slap iconography on the clothes, they actually implement the designs of the robots on the jacket. Another good example not seen in this video are the Unicorn Gundam Nikes where instead of slapping an icon on colors, they actually make the nike logo resemble the robot's horns with the shoes folowing the basic colors of the robot (White/Black base with Red/Gold accents)

Uniqlo is definitely the McDonalds of anime fashion, but they have some neat stuff and I have a Shonen Jump 50th Tee somewhere. I haven’t looked at their stuff in years but it’s affordable, comparatively at least. They also had some decent Disney ones too when I was at WDW years ago.

In the Philippines, the Filipino Brand OXGN has done a lot of collaboration with anime especially naruto. I think they got a better look and feel compared to the coach collab, in my opinion.
