5:53 I'm from Finland and last winter I went for the first time Ice swimming (You know like here, where you cut a piece out of ice and go swim in the near 0°C water) last winter. Did it 4 times total last winter and I really enjoyed it. As I'm a beginner and Karpov is obviously a pro (this applies to both chess and ice swimming😆) I can't stay in the lake for more than 15 seconds, so maybe someday I will be able to be able to play a full 30sec/30sec bullet game from the freezing cold water, when I've become experienced enough in ice swimming:D Anyways I would love to play "Floating chess" where the 2 players are swimming/floating in water (the water doesn't have to be deep) and a chessboard setup on some flat sturdy floating device where it won't fall ovwr into the water and play like a 5 min blitz game like that:D I'm imagining that in more like 16°C-25°C water though and not in almost frozen water:D
@epicchess2021
@epicchess2021 26 дней назад
haha that's an awesome story, I spent some time in Finland but only in Helsinki and Espoo, had quite a few saunas and some ice baths too certainly wakes you up!! It would make playing chess challenging for sure :D
@-AxisA-
@-AxisA- 26 дней назад
@@epicchess2021 If you're ever again in Finland, you gotta go to Kuusijärvi, Vantaa (it's like 25km-30km from Helsinki's center and you can get there by public transport very easily, it will just take some time) where they have smokesaunas a couple of smaller ones and a big one that opens up a at 14:00/2pm and the smaller ones open at 13:00/1pm. There's also couple electric saunas close to the dressing rooms and there's of course the "Kuusijärvi" which translates to "Birch lake" in English, which obviously is a lake and there's an ice swimming hole there throughout the whole winter. It's open in the summer as well of course, but no chance of ice swimming:D It costs something like 13€ to get a ticket to the smokesaunas, so you can go ice swimming there for free, but you can't use any of the facilities without paying. The smokesaunas are about 100 meters from the lake, so you have about a 30sec-1min walk every time you want to go from the smokesauna to ice swimming and back. It's obviously winter if there's a possibility for ice swimming, so it's atleast 0°C or colder outside:D Only tourists and amateurs wrap themselves in a towel during that walk! The real ones go throught the small walk only wearing swimming shoes, swimming shorts or regular mens swimwear, a swimsuit or a bikini for women and a sauna hat:D I always wore just my swimming shoes, swimshorts and a my sauna hat, which I kept on while swimming, because you only submerge to about your shoulder/neck height. If you want the most out of the ice swim, you stay submerged like that to the upper chest/lower neck area for atleast 10 seconds. You go to the water down the stairs very slowly and start counting towards ten or let someone else do it for you, if you're a beginner who has to concentrate on not getting out of the water out of reflex and when your upper chest is underwater. Then it's just mind games. You feel like you want to hyperventilate, but you keep telling/convincing yourself in your head like this: "I'm in the carribean in 30°C water, it's so warm, I'm so warm, I'm not cold at all..." etc. Like that. You psyche yourself out of the feeling of cold, because it's just that, a feeling. You're not going to die from being 10 seconds in almost freezing water. Some pros (Like probably Anatoly Karpov) swim around for 1-3mins in almost freezing water! If some 80yo grandma can be 30secs-1min in the freezing water like it's nothing, so can any healthy 20yo-40yo man be there 10 seconds😆 But yea when the person who counts for you has come to ten you slowly raise out of the water throught the steps and take slow steps coming calmly out of the water, even thought your brain is telling you to flail around and run inside:D When you come fully out of the water to the freezing air, it's quite a feeling, but just try to breathe deep and slolwy and try to psyche yourself thinking into you're actually warm. You just got to keep psyching yourself to thinking you're warm in the feeezing water, when you're actually not and just keep concentrating on your breathing. Heavy deep breaths in and out, even thought you want to hyperventilate immediatly as the freezing water hits your chest. My best tip is to wait just right atop of the stairs to the water and already start psyching yourself out there thinking it's warm and take 3-5 deep breaths before you even put your toe in and then keep doing that deep breathing while you're descending into the water and try to do that as to the best of your ability when your upper chest hits the water and you just wanna hyperventilate:D I promise the first time you do the 10 seconds it's quite bad, but the 2nd time I did it, I was immediatly 2 seconds more in the water (~12 secs total while my chest was submerged and then of course still rising out of the water slowly) and it wasn't nearly as bad. Also remember to take a good 15min-45min sauna break for your body to warm up properly between each ice swimming time, especially if you're skinny. The danger of hypothermia is very real while ice swimming, if you don't properly warm up your body betweem each swim.

hey dude dunno if you've ever seen the british scifi classic red-dwarf, but it's one of my favorite shows and i've heard you mention star trek a few times, just to say i was reminded of the episode where Kryten is accepting his death and Lister prepares to give him an epic going away party and he builds him a "robot companion", which is barely functioning, tacky robot and Lister says, "It's not perfect,." and the android, Kryten, whom Lister taught to rerject his programming by leartning to be an asshole to his crewmate perennial smeghead Rimmer (What are you rebelling against? What do you got?"): anyway, Lister says, about this shitty attempt at building his bud a sex robot, "she's not perfect." Kryten says, "It's the little imperfections that keep a fella interested" and the bros fistbump. Was reminded of that bit when you mentioned your pathetic, absolute shit clobber haha And can confirm in Russia we play until our nuts freeze but bro, benoni is not how anyone would say son of my sorrow and i tell you only because i have respect for you as a human being, i know, it's crazy like fox news. Nice to see you doing well bro! btw have you seen the finegold as buddha meme, goddamn the community is great XD cheers man! watch red dwarf! (or isn't red dwarf the fucking best)

But I like the story and can picture it haha. I sometimes have ppl say Benoni doesn't mean that but every article I read says it does so I get confused: www.chess.com/article/view/attack-and-defense-in-the-modern-benoni and I'm glad to hear I was spot on with the Russian like xD thanks for the support as always

@@epicchess2021 dude, you will go so far on this platform by the way you interact with viewers. I tell the guys who post the videos on the broken sword they should do more to show how much they value our viewers-liking a comment is always nice, but showing that you're willing to take the time to remember people personally, respond to them, etc, it shows an honest appreciation in ways that are so welcome and unheard of - i hope you grow so fucking bird i get drowned out in all the cheers for you, that you're too overwhelmed by praise to be lectured by my dumbass on words lol I have nothing but respect for you man! here comes the hebrew shit, or the חרא עברי (hara ivri', the hebrew language is called 'ivrit') And while you could say Benoni could mean son of my sorrow, it's an archaism and just not used anymore, though it is based on Biblical hebrew, because Ben or בֵּן (the 'B' character acts as a B if its before a vowel or another B in a sentence, like in "You're welcome" - בְּבַקָּשָׁה - B-vah-kish-a. (the diacritic marks above / below and inside the letters are included for pronunciation - it's known as niqqud, and it's not hard to switch between inputs, by pressing Fn on my keyboard i can toggle between russian, hebrew, english, french, and even australian. And speaking about learning curmudgeonly … this is going to be a lesson meant in good faith, more words to learn!!! :D when you want to use the "my" as a possessive in hebrew, you do use that endfix. 'sheli', hers, 'shela', theirs, 'shela'chm' etc. i mean, in 300 years English and American English have diverged quite a bit. Imagine what 2,000+ years has done to the texture, syntax and structure of Hebrew. Shit, Bill shakespeare wrote his best plays in the early 1600s and some of the words used there have different meanings than in modern English. Like, remember Jack Cade in Henry VI? Leads a rebellion against the throne? "I have thought upon it, it shall be so. Away, burn all the records of the realm: my mouth shall be the parliament of England." and "First, kill all the lawyers!" - he says something that is nearly inexplicable in modern english, "Caviar to the general." He does not mean the food literally, nor does he mean a military officer. he is talking about giving fine wine to the general population, like filet mignon to Honey Booboo. and that's a single line from a Like, if i was to say "my friend", it would be הוא הבן שלי == hoo ha-ben sheli. The (proper noun prefix 'ha-) son is mine. Hoo is the hebrew.'He'. Interestingly, the hebrew 'She' is pronounced 'Hee.' :P If someone didn't have the biblical basis to pass that on, it would probably be said like, Ben haz'ayr sheli. it always has that 'shel-ee' on the end to show possessive. For 'your' it would be (depending on your gender), References: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-EHXUVxk9164.html - me writing a letter to a friend in hebrew, the cursive alefbet (the hebrew alphabet has only 22 consonants, and consonants aqre used as vowels in the, which is easy to learn! * Alef-bet, gimel dalet, heh vav zayin heht tet yud kaf lamed mem nun samech ayin peh tzadi qof resh shin tav* -there you go, bro! you've learned the hebrew alphabet!. To say it is Hebrew for son of my sorrow is true for an ancient mode of hebrew, and it would be like saying words from middle-english, or whatever you call that shit in Chaucers Canterbury Tales is called. I say this only because I can speak Hebrew fluently and which I learned because fuck it life is short and after i became a teenager i tried to reconnect to my heritage. And, one last thing, bro, if you like sci-fi, and you like your humor as dry as the fuckin' sahara desert (interestingly, that word means 'desert desert'), put it on with the misses and try to watch the whole first and second season and let me know what you think. Peace my friend. Live long and prospe with your stupid fucking clubber chepic cheers my friend.

@@Brandon-a-writer wow what a comment, I appreciate all the effort!! I don't think I ever had one that long before. I can't do the reply the same justice I'm afraid (literally about to make a video and then really need to sleep as I'm knackered today!) but that was really interesting and I get what you mean now. So what does Benoni mean in modern Hebrew then? Pretty amazing all those languages you speak, sounds like you've got a knack for it and have worked hard at it. I've been very lazy with language learning given basically everyone I've ever come into contact with speak English to some degree, plus I never spent any significant period of time abroad. And yeah I get back to comments pretty regularly but I'm not flooded with like hundreds and hundreds or anything unless a video explodes, so it's not too bad. Great Game missed opportunities I guess that’ll happen in bullet chess Qd2 for Oro would’ve been game over winning the Rook same with Hikaru missing the check with his Rook after gaining a new Queen he should’ve went after Oro’s king driving it to h2 Thanks for the Game the shirt doesn’t look that bad actually Enjoy your Day 😊♟️
