Beyond 7 days, I tend to lose focus on God and focus more on the “not eating” part which defeats the purpose. Some people have to work their way up to a 14 day or 21 day fast. If you are a beginner, I would do a 3 day fast the first time.

So you eat before the sun rise and then go the day without eating but only eat once the sun sets. So may before 6am and after 7pm if that’s your sunrise and sunset times. While you are doing this, you spend time with God. Pray, read, worship. For example, you may get hungry around 2pm but you can’t eat so instead you seek God. You feel challenged because you want to eat but instead you pray in those moments. Spiritually it strengthens you, draws you closer to God, it provides clarity but also it keeps you disciplined. That’s one way to do it. Some fast from all meat. Some do only a liquid diet. Some fast from dairy or coffee or alcohol. It has to be something that challenges you. For example, if you are addicted to social media and spend too much time on it, people fast from social media for a week, 2 weeks, a month. Use that time to pray and spend more time with God. The more you do it. The better. The spiritual clarity makes it worth it. I hope that helps.

what is your fasting regimen?

@@shamarlewis6918 I eat at a calorie deficit and drink lots of water and then stop eating at 4:00pm I don’t eat anything until after 8:00am the next day. I only drink water during the time that I’m fasting sometimes like 2 to 3 cups then that’s it. Then I repeat this and the weight has been falling off ever since. So basically between 8:00am and 4:00pm I eat at a calorie deficit and then I fast and repeat.

Same. I’ve been fasting for a little over 90 days and I went from 265 to this morning I’m at 214. I wish I would’ve been working out and eating better in between but the truth is I haven’t been at all. This is the most control I’ve ever had over my body as far as “diet” wise in my whole life. The weight just falls off & you truly feel better as well as your health really improves. I would watch a lot of videos about intermittent fasting as well as insulin resistance/ metabolic syndrome. I feel like after you get into an understanding of those things it kinda made it easier for me to keep moving forward, not out of vanity but overall health in general.

So you were on a liquid fast? Consuming water, juices, etc? Did it have any spiritual or religious influence? I couldn't make it past 24 hours for a water fast, feeling disappointed and discouraged, but I want to try again😢

Juice breaks your fast sorry to be a downer clearly it still worked just something to be aware of another mistake people make is forgetting they are not in a fasted state until 6-10 hours after final consumption of any food or liquids that have effects on insulin causing the body to switch back to storage mode.

@@Ashley-og9ti Doing a juice fast is nice, I've done it for 30 days. But I don't think it will give you the same effects as a water only fast. You're still getting nutrients and calories into your body and your digestive system is still working to get rid of the waste. Your body never goes into that starvation mode where it starts burning your fat for energy and starts eating all the broken cells in your body. Again juice fast is great, I did it for a month. But you won't get the type so effects the bother in the video got when he went 40 days on just water.

I had a 4 day fasting goal, but I barely made it 24 hours 😪 Everyone talks about having so much strength and clarity but I was so weak!! Thought I was going to pass out. I don't know I prayed for strength I just don't feel anything. I want to try again because of my strong desire to draw near to God, or rather have Him near to me. I also want guidance and direction. Did 7 days it changed my life

​@@Skillz83that was my goal 4 days, but I barely made it 24 hours 😪 How did you hold on I legit felt I was gonna pass out; and people saying they had more energy and clarity. I was so weak!!

@@Ashley-og9ti you can also do fruit only fast. I ate some fruit either watermelon grapes or strawberries at 12pm and 4pm only and didn't indulge. I also did water only for a week. It gets manageable the more you do it and the longer you go. 24hrs is good. I say try 48 then next time 96hrs then double 96 and so on.
