Key is to eat healthy when you break the fast. If you don’t then it could result in you having loose skin with all the weight loss if you stay consistent
@@JudyArroyo-uo4sg it is highly dangerous to fast with diabetes, so you have to be extra safe about it. It’s not impossible, but you need to do it with supervision and if not by a doctor then at least in proximity to someone who can get you help right away if you lose consciousness

Water only is the best way to go. No supplement with salt & minerals. I did a 40 day water only fast nothing else. I cured my Type 2 diabetes, High blood pressure, and Cancer.
I'm curious what about persons who naturally have small body fame can they too do this water fast to cure the "C" disease ? If you have any information thats helpful thank you
@jaycarver4886 Thank you! I had to make a solid decision to choose good health over being a victim to autoimmune disease. And thanks for sharing that information.
@beyoutifulthatfasttravel7804 No question is silly. I drank some bone broth from grass fed cows, water thru the day and then some organic sauerkraut with no sugar and green drink which included cucumbers, celery, kale, and cilantro and drank more bone broth. The next day repeat everything but for dinner had steamed zucchini, spinach & a few pieces shitaki mushrooms. 3rd day: 2 poached pasture raised eggs, apple, watermelon and salmon. I used to be thin a long time ago. 😊 I'm not obese but I can stand to shed about 10 lbs. My health issues made me decide to start fasting.
Not a safe choice the body needs water every day!!! This is ridiculous for goodness sake just eat a healthy balanced diet don't be so gullible people do your OWN research.🙄
I've been doing 20:4 intermittent fasting for 4 years and I've reversed prediabetes, joint pain and lost 103 pounds. But I've not taken the next step of doing 36, 48 and 72 fasts. This has got me thinking again.
Start doing 24-48 water fast a few times then grow over time. I do rolling 4-5 day water fast. Make sure to break the fast with soft foods like watermelon, peaches, bone broth and other foods easy on the belly. If you don’t, you will experience diarrhea due to bile not breaking down food in gut before fast. Also if you don’t want loose skin, make sure you avoid meat that soon and other harsh foods that soon.
I mostly do 23:1 (though with questionable consistency) on a daily basis. I jumped on the 3-day water fast because of the autophagy effects. Since I've always been very healthy, it's hard to tell if it has been worth it for me, I am simply trusting the experts on this. But what I can say is that you can get used to them once you do them enough times (I do 3-day once a month). And, regarding motivation, it is certainly true. I still have a sugar addiction, but it has dissipated tremendously since starting the 3-day fasts.
I just completed a 3 Day water fast, the 2nd day was kinda tough but after that I was good to go I didn't want to break the fast but I did, got so much energy afterwards, less body pain, I'm doing this to improve my gut health......I plan to keep at it until healing occurs🤞🏽
Starting today for a 5 day fast...I did it last September and then moved to intermittent fasted which kicked off a 65 pound weight loss by Thanksgiving! Unfortunately, stopped intermittent fasting in January and have gained back about 20 pounds. Just starting back today - please pray for me!
I did a 40-day water fast last June through July and lost 50lbs. I was going to check into a facility or have bed rest while I did it, but decided to work through it. I usually fly three to six times per week and drive up to 4,000 miles per week, so sometimes, depending on the airport, I was doing a lot of walking and running from one gate to another. I got my energy back in the evening of the third day. Boredom will make you quit, not hunger. Fortunately, I had already planned for boredom by learning new skills and keeping myself busy. Definitely felt great, but it didn't help blood pressure though.
Today is my 5th day and i still don't feel any hunger and i'm super energetic. At work i walk all day so time goes by quickly. To stop headache i use Himalayan salt and electrolytes.
just completed a 9 day fast (had to break it for Father's Day and my wife's b-day)....amazing journey! So worth it. Going to repeat in July and maybe go longer...lost 15+ lbs...gained a few back...but the body, brain reset was awesome!! Secret....if you are really struggling with weakness, low blood sugar, etc...a large tablespoon of raw honey got me through the rough spots....I did swim 2 days...and took the honey beforehand to make sure I didn't bonk....really had to increase my water intake more than normal...huge benefits...amazing spiritual awareness as a Christian too!
53 years old, overweight, really falling apart physically. Always been super sugar addicted, and never had the will power to fast until now. I'm on day 3, and simply blown away how good I already am feeling!! Mental clarity and my mood are , I'm struggling to find the right words, so surprisingly good! I'm just so stoked to go a whole week with this water and coffee only fast. I went on a roadtrip yesterday, (day 2) and I just simply could not believe that i was able to watch my family eating their delicious smelling McDonald's breakfast, and later in the day, Wendy's food, and I'm talking fries and chocolate frostys, everything yummy, and i was just fine!!! I have also now gained a whole new peace of mind, and confidence, in knowing that if crap ever hits the fan, i can go a HECK of a long time without food if necessary. I am now determined to begin incorporating occasional fasting and better food choices, along with smaller meal portions and exercise into my new future life! Update Aug 10 2024. I only ended up doing a 3 day fast back then. I weighed 296lbs at the beginning, but something happened with that 3 day fast, that made it easy to adjust my meal portions, and i think it was easing into the 'refeading' phase that made it easy to eat less. Most the time now, we only will eat 2 meals a day, instead of 3, and really try to stay away from all sweets. Anyway, I now weigh 258-260, legs and toes no longer tingle, legs feel lighter and just generally feel much better. However I've hit a 260lb plateau with recently sneaking junk food back into my diet, and feel that I still need to lose another 40lbs so here I go to reset the system with another 3 day fast and maybe this time I'll go a whole week.
I hope now you help change the eating of your family as it sounds pretty bad. I have not eaten that M stuff for 40 years only Plant Based whole foods made at home and I have great health at 70.. Best wishes as you continue your journey but be mindful it takes time and don't forget to include the daily walking 30 min 5 days a week.
In Sept. '22, I did a 7 day DRY fast. No food, no water. I simply told myself, if I get a headache, I'd stop. No harm, no foul. I did it because my mom passed away from diabetes at 62 and my habits haven't been so great as of late at that time. On day one, there wasn't any problem, as I was expecting a headache. On day two, I was expecting a headache but no headache. So far, so good. On day three, again, no headache, so I knew day four was probably going to be a headache....... NOOOO!! On day four, I felt better than I did before I started the fast!! I was truly amazed; however, the one problem I did have was DRY MOUTH. As it turned out, I was testing for a new job, which included an oral exam. The examiner had me repeat a couple of verbal answers because the dry mouth was that bad!😂 The dry mouth subsided after about an hour. I GOT THE JOB! Day five had me thinking about extending the dry fast but since I did not consult a doctor beforehand, I decided to continue aiming for the seven days (166 hours). On day seven, I woke up early and ran and jogged to the Publix Supermarket. That's where I had weighed myself the day I started the fast. For those of you in the South, Publix Supermarket, along with their pristine appearance and customer service, they're known for having their scale in the vestibule area of their stores. I was so energized! By the way, the supermarket is about 3 miles from where I live (nearly 5k)! I wore very light clothing because I knew I would take most of it off when I got there. Just running shoes, no socks, mesh shorts and a tee shirt. I weighed myself and saw I lost 17 lbs.!! Just in seven days!! I felt so good. I walked back home and broke the fast with a cauliflower pizza, with pepperoni, sausage and mushrooms. I only ate two slices, as I was not very hungry. I also drank some lemon water. Now, let me be transparent. I was doing OMAD (One Meal A Day), for about 1.5 months before deciding to do it. I also read a lot about doing a dry fast and watched videos. I know, I didn't consult my doctor and that was because I didn't want to get talked out of it. I knew there were risks and I was fine taking them. Fast forward to July '24, I have run several 5k races, a half-marathon last December '23, a 15k last March, another 5k in June '24, I just completed a 5k on July 4th and have a challenge of three races in 24 hours called "The Tour De Pain" in August! All of this while prepping for another half-marathon in Oct, and then I may close it out with another 5k for Wounded Warriors in November. I am now 52 years old!! I just started a 7 day water fast yesterday and will continue to prep for my Oct. half-marathon. I run just 3 times a week, which includes a long run on Sundays and conditioning runs the other two days. In addition, I do some light weight training. My long run this Sunday is 11 miles (17.7k) at an easy pace. I feel good about what I am doing. I never thought I'd be a runner like this, let alone eating properly a lot more often than not. I still get Ben & Jerry's Cherry Garcia on occasion but when I say stop to any vice, I usually mean it!😉
I will say that breaking a fast should be fine with fruits first. Doctors recommend breaking a fast this way. During a fast, the body is detoxing. It’s not wise to break a fast with animal products because you are putting toxins back into a body that has been detoxing. You will shock your system that way. Basically, you should break your fast with fruits and vegetables, including whole fruits/vegetables and juiced fruits/vegetables to ease your body back out of intense detoxification. I’m 63 and vegan for 8 years. I’ve read a lot about the subject of toxic substances. Animal products are particularly toxic to the body. On fasting, I would encourage you to read the works of Dr. Fred Bisci also.
Sounds great. The most I’ve done is 2 days. Will try starting now. I bulk back in April and haven’t been too motivated at the gym so it hasn’t come off. Wish me luck
@@rozchristopherson648Yeah, breaking a fast with fruits and/or vegetables is toxic. Animal products are normal/natural food products for us and NOT toxic.
Hi I know this is a shot in the dark but I am new to running...I have ran a 5k and two 10ks I have been training for another 10k in September then got stopped in my tracks by hurting my back while sprinting...does anyone think or know or experienced any type of healing while fasting? Im not new to fasting but I have always dirty fasted..I am ready to get serious about the fast I am on right now only water and coffee I WILL DRY FAST IF Necessary cause I want to run!!!
I am happy I got your channel. You have an acceptable pace of delivering your materials. You are a gifted teacher. You explained concepts that I have heared of but were not explained, you used it with in the concept of their meanings. I am now informed and prepared to enbark on a five day water fast. Thank you indeed for your labour of love.
Day 1 was HARD, I'm not gonna lie cause i smelled food everywhere. Day 2 just started. I'm still in bed cause I'm a bit dizzy, but I hope to make it for my health. My starting weight was 227.8.
@@teteo.2408To add to the above, I recommend getting a gourmet salt like pink Himalayan. Much better mineral profile than just table salt. If you get lucky at a farmers market like I did you can buy it in bulk cheaper than regular salt! I bought a 25lb bag for $16. I couldn't believe it myself lol.
@@ItsAllFakeAndGhey yep! There were actually studies on it that pushed me past my usualy 24-48 hr fast. One study showing massive BDNF increases with fast of 72+ hours. And other study showing BDNF encourages nerve growth . Both on pubmed. Don't have them on phone rn.
well I don't want to believe you I have this similar injury I'm 30 it's been going on since I was 24 I fasted for a day or two before and I'm skeptical this could help my chronic pain but if it helps you and we have a very similar injury I'm probably going to have to try it.
Excellent advise. I'm starting a water fast in the morning; adding 2-3 drops of liquid minerals and a pinch of Himalayan salt in a mason jar. My plan is to rewatch this episode each day.👍👍💚😶

@@musclemomof5 it sure takes a lot of discipline and fortitude, but keep the last day in your mind. I have done numerous fasts over the years, and day 1&2 Are always the toughest. What helps me, is all day your brain says I'm starving, and it's persistant, but, focus on anything around you, move around, go for a walk, notice the different colors, sounds, and remember it's only a short time, you can win! Grab more water, consider new meals, and better beverages, can I get better organized in the future...ask God to help. Greatest blessings. 💖👍👍
Very inspirational...l turn 52 in a few days. Gained 40lbs in 2 years. Addicted to sugar and carbs. Hormones out of wack. Dental bone loss above 1 molar. A frontal lobe brain hemmorage. Bad mood swings. Low motivation. Depressed. Left elbow pain. Lower back pain. Thinned hair. Overwhelmed. Social anxiety. As you may have found, after the 48 hour point (or so), hunger fades as do urges to snack. You will begin to feel more awake as your body switches to ketones for fuel. If you are male and your BMR is in the region of 2500 calories per day, during a fast, you only need an additional 1000 calories to lose through gentle exercise or very short HIIT and you have the potential to shed at least 1lb per day, perhaps more. The sleep thing is more important than suggested, as our bodies do some of its best work during quality 7+ hours of deep sleep. Watch more of these video presentations as you fast, for knowledge, inspiration and motivation. It works for me. I'm 63M, 195cm and have dropped from 133kg to 104kg (though I gained a bit of weight over the summer, I'm now fasting to get back on track). I'm currently holding at 111kg, with the aim of getting to around 90-95kg by Christmas. Keto and fasting.
Started water fast 3 days ago, felt great, no desire for food even from day 1, on day 2, I drove 800km interstate on my own, it was probably the best drive I’ve ever had, I was not tired at all throughout the journey. I just needed a stretch every time I fuelled up. I felt so alert. 3rd day and I’m feeling great. At no stage was I feeling hungry nor desire for food. I was initially only doing a 3 day fast, but since I feel so great I’m going to continue. I’ve done juice fasts for 14 days in the past. I’d like to take this water fast to 30 days, we’ll see how I go.
Arguably the most underrated thing average people can do for their health. Everytime someone complains about chronic symptoms, I always recommend attempting a basic fast to reset. You just have to plan it at a good time, so the biggest challenge is fitting it into some people's lives.
Between work and life, and some important life events I ended my fast 20 days in and adding raw alkaline foods to my diet which I'm still currently doing now. I will try to answer a little sooner next time... ❤
I completed the three day water fast with no problems… time to do the 5 day. Fasting helps and works ladies and gentlemen. Thanks so much doc. Your a shining star 💫 Billy from Toronto says thank you ❤️🔥
Just coming out of 120 hr water fast... If my good food eating self can do it Almost Everyone CAN. Day 2 & 5 were the tough days. Breaking the fast was the challenge. Wanted to keep going, BUT working out became overwhelming to put in that gym workout.
My immunesystem became really weak after a medical intervention 2021. Was sick at least a week out of every month. After 18 months of this I decided to do a 7 day water fast. I only managed 5 days. But on day 3 of refeeding I felt strong again. For the first time in 18 months it felt like my immunesystem was working again. Not a complete fix but it felt like it went from 40% up to 80%. Was so happy. But one must be very careful with the refeeding. I did a second 5 day fast 4 months later. Broke the fast with a big bowl of bone broth, the an hour later another big bowl of bone broth. I got so sick. My body got really stressed. Several hours later I had to throw up because I was feeling so bad. Felt like I was dying. I was weak and sick for several weeks after that. Once I got som strenght back, like 5 weeks later I did a 4 day fast and came back pretty strong again after that. Made sure to break it with just a small portion of broccoli. I have done a 3 day and a 4 day fast since then. They went well. Going to do a 5 day fast in a few weeks time agsin. But oh how importsnt the refeeding part is. I cant stress this enough. Fasting is so powerful when done right, but just a small misstep or a big bowl of bonebroth can really make you worse of going out of the fast than you were going in.
Work your way to doing 3 or 4 week fast. I reversed an extremely fatty liver with galblatter calcifications and pre diabetic diagnosis. I had extreme back pain from being inflamed all tge time to almost pain free. It's a life changer when you do it but it's important to go keto after or you'll get yourself right back into bad shape again.
I healed my chronical gastritis by intermittend fasting and eating no carbs in the evenings. It took me a few months, but I am now able to do longer fasts and benefit from them. So don't give in with poor stomach conditions. It just take time. Thanks for the detailled information. Very helpful! ❤
Thanks, you make this crystal clear. I just finished my 2nd 3 day water fast in a attempt to improve my metabolism. What I experienced matches right up with your presentation. By the end of the 3rd day I felt 10 years younger. One thing I noticed was my ketones only got up to 1.9.my blood sugar got down to 59. Next month I will go for 5 days.
I have been wanting to do this for a few days now and up pops your video!! If one has potential food sensitivity the GAP diet would be good to start where one food at a time is re-introduced to the body. It also starts with home made bone broth.
I am a mail man and a powerlifter and I absolutely love the 5 day water fast and have gotten some incredible healing from them over the years! Just a little bit of advice for the people like me who do very physical jobs. I only do 1 workout during my fast and it's the morning of day 1. After that I will supplement with potassium and branch chain amino acids twice that day. After that I will do a full water fast. I just feel that really helps me transition well into the full fast without excess soreness or fatigue from the workout. When transitioning out of the fast I will also eat a ketogenic diet for a week like Dr sung says. I will work out twice during that week. The first day I will repeat the workout I did on day 1 of the fast with 70% of the weight. The second workout will be with 85%. I won't do another 100% workout until 2 or 3 days after reintroducing carbs. All In all it's about a 2 week period but I think the health benefits are really worth it. I know a lot of athletes and manuel laborers are very concerned about attempting a fast. If that is you then I highly recommend you trying this protocol. It has really worked wonders for me!
I was in a really bad state and started doing alternate day fasting if you haven’t seen Rachel sharps video she had quite an incredible transformation and alternate day is a bit of a trend now, but I fell off and here I am about 24 hours in, and need to pull as long as I can. also, I had to give up coffee because I just wasn’t getting much benefit even though I was fasting until I eliminated that as well. Good luck, everyone, and thank you for the video highlighting the benefits, of this incredible healing tool.
I once had an allergic reaction to something I was eating or drinking (milk, dairy, yogurt, cheese), and breaking out in hives. I decided to fast for the first time ever. By day 3, I was feeling great with nothing but water and green tea! By day five, I had to force myself to eat again as I wasn't even hungry... Yet again, I felt great. Fasting is interesting and can be useful for the body.
I avoid regular milk to this day, but I'm back to eating cheese, eggs, and more with no problems/no hives. I think the fasting allowed my immune system to take a chill pill.😄@reeselee1501

I'm on day 5, and I've noticed an Increase of motivation I'm not as depressed (I struggled with depression) My skin is clear I can think clearer (I struggle with brain fog) I'm less irritable I haven't weighed myself but I could tell in my face that I'm slimmer I don't feel as hungry. I feel hungry every now and then, but I drink a lot of water, and the hunger goes away 5 minutes later
Slow and difficult. Not perfection but progress. 8 lbs in a month, walking every day. Coffee, no sugar , no cream and water only. Cut out all the bread and rice....... had a few relapses but still pushing. It's hard to get the family to understand at first. But the wife is coming around after seeing a small change. She is used to serving me big plates of food and thinks I stopped liking her cooking🤣 or worse that I'm eating my meals elsewhere 🤦🏻♂️. ...hahaha.
@@indio2flechas886 8 lbs is phenomenal. Keep going, buddy! It's not a race. Just as long as you're makin' progress. Hope your wife understands. Maybe she thinks you're trying to lose weight to meet someone. :)
3 day fasts are just as healing! I've done both 3 and 5 day fasts and imho you don't need to extend to 5 days for all the benefits ! However, there's no harm in trying ❣️
Depends what you're trying to heal. Ketosis only really starts after day 3-4 and that's where the deepest healing begins. There's a good reason why people do 7, 14, 18, 21, 30, 40 day water fasts. For chronic issues even a 7 day fast is very unlikely to cut it, unless you do many of them. This is what the experts suggest and my personal experience is 3-4 day fasts haven't given much in the way of noticable benefits and I've done a number of them.
@@carl8568 I have IBS. I have benefited from 3 day fasts in terms of being to handle more variety of food. Have you ever done a 7 day fast? How did you handle that while working?
@@QUINTUSMAXIMUS That's great. I have done a 6 day fast but I had to take some time off work because my energy level was very low. And it's best to rest up whilst fasting anyway, except for some walking, you will reach deeper healing if you are not stressed with work. Periodic 3-4 day fasts are still very beneficial though.
I've done a 21 day water fast just for the experience. It wasn't terrible but wasn't a breeze either...probably more due to boredom and wanting to at least drink something with flavor. The best thing about it was that my chronic rosacea was cured but that wasn't the reason I did it. It was a great experience and I'm glad I persevered. Going without food is not only a good thing but nothing to fear! That's probably the most valuable lesson I've learned. I may do this 5 day fast because I haven't done one in awhile...just intermittent fasting, usually 22/2. Hope it's ok to share this other source of info. I'm impressed. 5 day is my max thus far. I'm guessing you've done research along w/ your experience and so I ask if you have an idea of the minimum amount of time for a "deep cleanse." Would I benefit from adding more days beyond 5? Thanks.
I did a 4 day fast recently and was excercising every day, sometimes 30 mins or more on a cross-trainer and free weights. I felt I had limitless energy, but I was sensible to not overdo it. I am 57 and have a body most 20 somethings would want. Thank you for the interesting video.
@@bryheartsu Made it to Day 11, down to 162. Refed due to stress from outside influences. Day 12 Started the Sardine fast, then the Egg Fast. Then Sardines, Egg, and Cheese. I will be restarting my water fast again tomorrow. Tips: Magnesium, Potassium, and Salt. Turn the phone to airplane mode and try not to engage with negative entities who walk on two legs. I incorporated coconut water, liquid IV, and LMNT. Watch videos on other people who are water fasting. No strenuous activities. I actually ordered my cases of water and had them delivered. Drink different brands or use a good filter. Good luck.
Day 5 begins at 9:30PM for me today! I can see the difference in my skin the most, it’s amazing actually. Fine lines, gone. Dark circles, gone. My right knee had been bothering me, but now the pain is gone. I’ve only ever done 2 other extended fast (11day and 3days). I wasn’t sure I was going to be able to do this one. But my sugar addiction had been getting intense, I was so sluggish, and my weight started to creep up. Im so glad I started. Not only to prove to myself that I have the strength to, but to heal my body and readdress my relationship with food. So so so worth it!
I’m on day six. Day 4 & 5 was the toughest. But you know what’s pushing me is the pain in both of my feet & legs is gradually going away. Now I don’t want to quit because I feel as if fasting is healing my feet/body and I will know when it’s done. Going for 7 days or when my feet feels completely or near healed
Excellent thank you Dr., not many doctors are educated in detoxification, nor do they educate. A major issue for most, you can just tell when someones guts are backed up too. Its so simple, but people remain ignorant. Thanks for helping.
On day three. I need ti stress how much emotional hunger is a strong sensation!!! Like damn i know im not hungry in the refueling sense, but i am ceaving all kinds of food 😢i can smell food and fantasize people eating😂 anyways i think that is due to gut parasites and worms sending signals to crave crabs and sugar ( not sure this sceifietically proven )
Hello Doctor. I live as healthy as I can. No sugar, no processed foods, doing sports. I had a heart attack 1 month month after the 2nd Pfizer jab with 32 yo. Now I have ishemic heart disease and only 30 EF. Is there any chance fasting will help with reversing ishemic heart muscle? I did multiple 72h and one 96 h water sea salt fast. No changes yet when I went to checkup. Maybe a dryfast will have more impact on the ishemia? I have heard its up to 2-3x more powerful on scars too. Dead heart muscle is a scar too
I finished a 4 day/100 hour fast two weeks ago, 3 of those days were a dry fast. The headache on the 4th day really began to gnaw at me. A few years ago I caved at 100 hours also. Unfortunately I didn't notice my hunger fall away at all on both of those 4 day fasts. I'm 24 hours in to another fast at the moment and shooting for 7 days, this duration is uncharted territory for me but the path is clear for this effort. I live off grid in the bush and am not working, it's just the boredom to deal with.
I did 10 days water fast last year, following the Jain daslakshan parv. It was a beautiful feeling after 10 days of accomplishment of not eating. I broke my fast with fruits in the morning. Ill do the same again this year. Water once in the morning as much as i can and then nothing for the day.
I attempted a 3 day water only fast over 3 weeks ago and only made it two days and decided to quit. When I started back eating I got heart palpitations and when I say that I mean that I could literally feel my heart beating in my chest all day long, especially when I laid down to sleep which frankly was terrifying. Went to the ER after 3 days of this and they checked everything and said I was ok but it continued for 2 weeks and then went to a cardiologist who said I was ok. It seems to be getting better but do NOT take this lightly.
@@somefrog6089 I've had palpitations for over 3 weeks but the last 4 days it seems to have quit although it still doesn't feel right. I thought I was going to die and I still don't know if I'm out of the woods yet. I'll never fast again.
You're looking at it the wrong way around. I've seen others have this mentality in the past. For example when people say they tried juice fasting and on the second day had diarrhea and vomiting at the same time (for example). They say that this is a reason to never do it again. The sad truth is that these are the people who need to do it the most. It's not a reason to not do it.. it's a reason to do it more (and there is a lot about your body that needs fixing). Knowing absolutely nothing about your background, your reason for fasting or anything else.. I would say it sounds like you have a lot of stress in your life, and also are battling some sort of chronic issue. I know personally what palpitations feels like in the last 12 months, and yes.. it's not nice. Consider having supervision and guidance next time you try one.. or start slow.. for example 24 hour fasts. After a few of those, try stretching it out to do 2 days. There are many approaches that could work. But view it as a long term thing.. not just a miracle 5 day thing. And be very careful about eating again.. start with only juice on the first day for example. He mentions this in the video.. lime/lemon juice, or bone broths. Coming out of a water fast.. it's very important that it is taken seriously. But coming out of a juice fast is a bit easier. There are levels, and everyone's body is different. I wish you luck on fixing whatever it is that inspired you to try this in the first place.
From my understanding, it's not dietary protein that causes autoimmune issues but a reaction to phytochemicals. That is why people who eat a carnivore diet heal their autoimmune issues.
I am going to do something similar starting Sunday but eating cucumbers 🥒 with pure water and pink salt. I will do this because of my gut issues and potential hypo issues
Did a 5 day fast a month ago, lost 13 pounds. On day 2 right now of my second fast, trying to go longer. Do not drink coffee during the fast. All the RU-vidrs will say it’s fine. It’s not. Think about it this way, while fasting your body doesn’t have anything other than toxins to get rid of when you use the bathroom, while yea coffee won’t break the fast in terms of calories but now you have something to use the bathroom for. I’ll let y’all do the math on how that went when coffee is the only thing your body is pushing out 😂😂😂
Sorry, but MCT oil coming out of a fast is a waste of money. In my opinion, MCTs only have a place in fasting at the beginning to ease a switch from glucose to ketones for energy. Ideally, a person would eat a very low/zero carb diet a few days before fasting so they can split the stress of switching body energy sources and the stress of not eating (mix of physical and mental.) During this very low/zero carb diet, one tablespoon of an unrefined coconut oil will provide MCTs for brain energy. Unrefined coconut oil is a superior choice for getting MCTs in your diet because it is cheaper and shelf stable. MCT oil is basically a specialty product that typically needs to be refrigerated and has a limited lifespan. Additional information for readers: Your body can use glucose, fat, or ketones for energy. However, your brain has additional protections since it is the most important part of your body: the BBB (blood-brain barrier.) The BBB limits the size of what can pass from the blood to the brain in order to protect the brain. While glucose and ketones are small enough to pass the BBB, most fatty acids are too big. This causes a problem where your brain isn't getting energy when your body is switching from glucose to ketones. MCTs (medium chain triglycerides) consist of 6-, 8-, 10-, and 12-chain fatty acids. The 6- and 8-chain fatty acids are small enough to pass the BBB. So MCTs can be a bridge to provide energy to your brain while your body is switching from glucose to ketones. As your body becomes better and better with switching energy sources, you won't need as many days to switch over. (It will never be a light switch style of change, but your body can definitely become faster at it.) Also as you fast, you may be able to address other parts of the stress which lower the overall total stress of fasting. For me specifically, I found that eating was a habit in addition to a biological need. I still remember my first medium length fast where I really wanted to eat. I sat still for a moment really paying attention to myself. I wasn't hungry in my stomach. Not even a whisper of hunger in my stomach. It was all in my head. I just really, really wanted to munch on some potato chips. At that time, it was a strong habit of mine. Over time and changing of habits, my mental stress when fasting has dropped significantly. While I eat a medium/low carb diet normally, I could jump right into a fast and be ok because my overall stress is lower. However, why would I be mean to my brain? :) So I do one day of very low/zero carb eating with some coconut oil before fasting. The goal of fasting is better health... let's not start out by abusing our brain. I think that purposefully addressing the energy switch before fasting is one of the biggest missed tools for a lot of people talking about fasting. Oh, obligatory message when talking about fasting: electrolytes, electrolytes, electrolytes.
Hell no. It takes a very long time for that to happen. Most Americans have so much fat all over their inside organs and everywhere else, your body doesn't need your muscle
Thank you so much doctor! I have officially crossed the 110 hour mark and do expect to finish my fast here sadly, i truly think i cam go 10 days if i really push myself but i think a good keto diet and eatinf appropriately and still be able to lift weights and hit the gym, since i committed to that, doesn't make much sense for me to push for the 21+ day fast. but i know i could do it if i wanted to amd that has been so inspiring, I feel like I'm LIVING again
