Thank you for a great video. I have had a hard time having my daughter understand what I have been talking about wrist snap. Thank you

Glad it was helpful! It can be hard to feel the difference between snapping and pushing the ball, but once she feels the difference she won’t want to go back!

This video helps alot on the wrist snapping and release. My question, my daughter was originally taught to snap the wrist, but instead of snapping the wrist up (or as in scooping ice cream), she would snap her wrist to the left. Pretty much like making a gun shape with her index pointing to left and thumb straight. This L shape would he facing the catcher. Is that still similar to what you are saying about snapping the wrist up? TIA!

It sounds similar, though I’d imagine that would cause a corkscrew spin on the pitched ball rather than a straight spin. I prefer snapping up because you can get all 4 fingers pushing behind the ball at the same time rather than 1 finger at a time for maximum power. I hope this helps!

Hi Courtney, Amelia has trouble relaxing her arm after the release, any suggestions?

How often should we practice these drills? Daily? Time? Thank you!

Hi Kristina, this is an excellent question! I’m going to cover it in an upcoming video this weekend because I think a lot of people will benefit from it! Short answer-aim for more days of the week, even if it’s less time (7 days of 10 min per day > 1 day of 70 min). I’ll link the video once I’ve posted it!!

Hi. w/the towel drill, at the end when your hand relaxes w/the other hand, my daughter causes the towel to swing and wrap around over her other hand that is facing the pitcher. What could be causing this?

Hi Ben! Thanks for your question, if it’s wrapping over her glove hand, that tells me that she isn’t snapping straight down and straight forward but rather side-arming the snap. Focus on keeping the elbow/arm close to the rib cage and moving straight down and straight forward like a pendulum or like your arm is between two walls. I hope this helps!

Hi Brian, thanks for your question! If Amelia’s arm is stiff/tense after the release, I’d assume it’s also stiff/tense during the delivery. One of my favorite drills to help players relax their arm throughout the whole arm circle (and to just pitch without thinking too much!) is rapid fire. I’ll go over rapid fire in the future, so keep your eye out for that! I’ll also address this question in more detail in our upcoming Q&A. Thanks again for the question!
