I think Body Positivity should be for people who have lost limbs, have facial disfigurements, or have physical circumstances beyond their control. Obesity is usually if not always a choice.
Exactly. There's no excuse for being fat. There's a simple formula to lose weight, burn more calories than you take in. People that can't do that just lack discipline or self respect.

My father served 32 years in the U.S. Army, he was combat wounded and his body is all jacked up. The VA just last year dropped him from Tier 3 (highest) to Tier 0. I am his VA caregiver At T3 since the paperwork is in my name the payout was 3,800 a month. Which I knew my father needed this money to not only pay off his bills but he would be-able to enjoy his golden years. at T0 it was nothing a month. I appealed and got him least back to T1 its less then 800 a month which in all these years I have not kept a single cent. Keep in mind he can't drive, he can't even put socks and shoes on. He can't stand for long periods or sit for long periods. He has more metal along and around his spine then Iron man has in his suit, permanent nerve damage, constant pain. he will never get better only worse as the years go on. 100% disabled by Army and 90% by VA. Yea I understand the VA is different then welfare. But she applied for disability and got it because she is "fat" and my father has to fight for these benefits after being a veteran going back to the Golf War and loses his benefits? ... what in the fuck? This truly fucking disgusts me.

What I still don't get is they told me he was "mis-placed in this system" He is 100% disabled and you took him from the highest to NOTHING? Then they told me "Oh less he is completely bed ridden he will not be any higher in the system." I am so close to getting into politics to just fire alot of assholes and reform the VA, the entire VA. this straight pisses me off. He literally fought and busted his body for his country and this is how they repay not only him but all the other soldiers??!?! And my father is somewhat lucky to fall back on his 32 years. I was obese. I hated my weight. I went on a strict diet and got off the sofa and exercised a lot and changed my lifestyle. It was bloody difficult but I did it.

She took up a spot that could've been given to someone who has an honest disability that they were born with and cannot control. Nearly anyone can eat less than what is needed to gain weight to the point of obesity. (I say nearly everyone because I am sure that there may be some exceptions.)

the 'all bodys are beautiful' thing was meant for amputees, people born with defects and people that have scars from abuse or war, and not people that are too lazy and committing to put down the pizza and start working out.
I'm not so sure that is true, but assuming it is, it's as flawed as the fat is beautiful movement. It's implying that amputees who also have birth defects, scars (but only from abuse or war, a strange specification) are still beautiful. They might in fact be beautiful people but it doesn't make them beautiful. Perhaps amputees but then you are still judging them on their looks, they simply have less limbs. No one looks at a burn victim and thinks they are beautiful. Or someone with Down's Syndrome. Of course there is the notion that there is someone out there somewhere for everyone but for the overwhelming majority of people, it's not beautiful. The real question is what actually is beautiful and who decides it or dictates it. It wasn't too long ago when fat was considered beautiful because it signalled wealth and fertility. It's a strange double standard though. If you look at old paintings and sculptures, the women were more plus size, the men were chiseled adonises. I wonder how long it will take before everyone is fat/obese and beauty standards will change to reflect that. A tine when 'fat acceptance' will have nothing to do with acceptance because everyone is fat.

My son is in a wheelchair. I can’t tell you how many times we have seen some obese person take up the handicap parking spots. I have to park in the back lot and while I’m pushing him up we will see them toddle out to their car. So upsetting.
Nothing quite as enraging as going to the grocery store and being left to use my cane to hobble around the store because all the electric carts are gone, only to see a whole squad of obese people that took them. Like, I have chronic in my lower back and legs that makes it hard to walk. I'm 21 and I'm gonna have that for life, but a great first step for you to no longer needing that cart would be to put back that soda and twinkies and maybe use a regular cart to walk around with a bit of support
I was bullied my whole childhood for being fat due to my medical condition which resulted in turning my life arround and start living healthy and do fitness. I used to be overweight and I met my current love of my life 5 years ago. She has a condition called Arthrogryposis. She can’t walk and has very limited strength and movement in her arms and legs. She uses an electric wheelchair to move around. Yet she has accomplish a lot, got her BA, she is currently a supervisor for a big gas company in Los Angeles. I am proud of her. She encourages me to lose weight because I can still walk, go up the stairs, go to the bathroom, change clothes. I am in the best shape of my life. It upsets me that obese people take the handicapped spots and ADA seats when me and her go out. She genuine needs these spots and yet these people can at least walk to point A to point B.

I was once on a flight to New Mexico and this man sitting besides me was trying to covertly record this women sitting the aisle across from us. I couldn’t for the life of me fir girl out what he was trying to see but I was very uncomfortable. He was super creepy for the rest of the flight.

When my mom was going to support groups before and after she got her weight loss surgery, everyone there was always complaining about all the foods they’d never get to eat again. My mom has been living with chronic pain her whole life. When her weight became a problem, she did something about it and felt much better afterwards.
I understand having some problem with the photoshopping because they’re actually changing the reality to what could be argued to be unrealistic, but the real actual fit person isn’t unrealistic, it’s just that the fact that they’re real judges fat fucks that refuse to be fit.

She will contribute nothing to whatever country houses her, and could potentially imprint this same behavior on the young boy in the room. The best way to discourage this is to do more in depth background checks on the people that apply for these benefits, of course it will take time but the system could also save on money by doing so. There are people who desperately need the assistance that are deprived and then you get people like this who receive it. Disgusting behavior from that lady.

I have a disease that makes it more difficult to lose weight. I am proud of myself because l have lost 30lbs despite this. I will keep going because l want to get to my target weight.
