I actually found this story very funny. If this is in the US, there is not a chance that a lawyer would discuss anything to do with a will or inheritances at a fkn funeral! In fact, it would probably not happen anywhere on the planet.

My grandmother has actually told EVERYONE in the family what is in her will, and she's not even dead yet.
@maureendance3105
@maureendance3105 Год назад
Also, if the will is voided, wouldn't Probate decide the estate? I think it's 50% to the spouse, and the other 50% divided among all surviving children. Not a lawyer, but in that case, Lucy and her mom would control 75% of the company, maybe?

There are “bosses” and there are “leaders”. From my experience in the military the two are viewed differently and while bosses are drivers, seldom are they liked AND respected. A leader is a man like RADM Daniel V. Gallery who when he received a letter from one of his sailors stating, “I kept you from burning, now keep me from burning”, pulled strings to get the sailor transferred. Another time on USS Guadalcanal, the Commander Air Group (CAG) told Gallery that there wasn’t enough wind over the deck for safe flight operations. Gallery nodded and about 15 minutes later Flight Quarters was called and Captain Gallery flew one of the planes off and then landed and went back to the bridge. He didn’t argue with CAG, he just showed that he could fly. 45 minutes later the air group was up flying. When Gallery was commanding an air field on Iceland one night he saw a stack of marine rifles not being guarded. He took the rifles back to his quarters. 3 days later the Marine Captain comes to Gallery and said, “My Marines have lost 3 rifles. We have looked everywhere and can’t find them.” Gallery looked at the Captain, walked over to his bed and said as he pulled the mattress back, “These?” He didn’t chew on the Marine, didn’t tell the Marine how to handle the enlisted Marines that messed up. He just assumed, rightly, that no one would want to be standing in front of him about something like this again.
@bernhardmichaelfux308
@bernhardmichaelfux308 Год назад
But be careful when saying this! I was a leader! And being a leader, I set Bosses in front of my subordinates! And, although I always tried to make a choice to choose good people as bosses, all of them were very strict sometimes - instead of me! You understand? lol...
@martinwalker9386
@martinwalker9386 Год назад
@@bernhardmichaelfux308 It was joked that Gallery shaved with a blowtorch. Do you think the Marine Captain was easy on his men after reporting to Gallery about the rifles. That said Gallery led bye example as the day he made the first takeoff when CAG said there wasn’t enough wind.

what a good daughter as all she wanted was to help her parents and learn about her fathers business. Sadly neither of my children are interested so i will sell mine or it will shut down , but the inheritance will go to my Grandchildren for their future education just as I paid for majority of my kids as I had to put myself thru school so it was something i worked hard to give them the boost up in life.

Tom was so so arrogant just because his father owned a company. Though out the story he proved that time and time again. He and his wife just spent unearned money and put down the employees. While his sister earned her's as well as the respect of the other employees that worked for her father. So, he and his wife got what they 'earned' in the end.

I love the fact that the dad let his son go on thinking he’d be president one day and dig his own grave. His arrogance got him exactly what he deserved. And it’s not like they didn’t try to warn him. Good for OP.

Yes, it is obvious that it's a "made up" story. Almost done of the legal aspects would be true. Particularly regarding wills/inheritance etc. I mean, the father's wife would get most of the personal assets of her husband. They would be Jointly owned, marital property! The children may have loans/debts forgiven (brother's house) with small bequests also made but the rest would go to the widow. The business itself depends how ownership was structured. Again, the widow would get the share % owned by her husband. As for decisions re who becomes president... well that would have been sorted out via instructions. The president/CEO would be a salaried position, not an ownership one. As "Stooping Falcon" stated, the company/personal lawyer would not be discussing anything to do with a Will or Company structure at a funeral. Nor would other company employees be telling anyone what will take place re management structures. The whole thing is a third rate attempt to pull heart strings for some stupid story. Oh, how is the brother on the Company payroll that is financing his playboy lifestyle? Or is it just grants from his father from personal assets?

Ya, great sentiments, but this story comes across as being completely contrived. It should have started out “Once upon a time…”. The only honest part of how it was presented was that they DIDN’T say it was a true story. The people are such stereotypes. They don’t feel the least bit real.
