I don’t get people’s love of Deadpool 1, it was more generic less heart and you get everything after you watch it. Deadpool 2 actually explores Deadpool’s character from his depression, self hate and soft spot for kids.
I agree! Deadpool 2 is a better film! It’s funnier, the action gets significant improvement, it is more rewarding to watch as a comic book reader and it introduces great new characters!!
Vendetti's Hal Jordan & the GL Corp Run was also a really fun book. I was so bummed that it got cancelled and it hasn't been the same since (until now). Morrison and Thorne's run were fine, but it felt like they were trying to be dark and edgy. From my GL and Flash books, I just want fun adventure stories and Adams has so far delivered in both (technically all 3)
I love the friendship between Benny and Sal. I think I found comic pop through Benny years ago. I'm gonna miss him a lot. Heart goes out to his family and team.
Idw TMNT are collected in these nice hard covers that are evergreen (continuously reprinted) until IDW loses the license. It's the best interpretation of the turtles in my opinion.
My Spider-man is Dan Slott, even he is fallen off since original Superior Spider-man run, I think it manages the best of making Peter actually feel competent while having a balancing act of his selfishness struggle against his virtue. And on that note I have stupidest idea: Paul can be the magic guy who Spider-man yeeted in the abyss at the first arc of J. Michael Straczynski run.

You're correct that the show Hawkeye was the first to explore the expansion of the MCU into the more grounded street-level world. I just wanted to make a sarcastic remark in response to Sal's comment about Echo being the entry into the ground-level world. If you watched the show, I won't spoil it, but as I mentioned, that statement hasn't aged well.

Mando duo movie with rey actually sounds like a really cool concept. Like if they do it like a western movie, they are travelling the galaxy and they both have their different ways of handling things which will conflict obviously..Grogu is like the 3rd kid wheel, like in indiana jones, no need to center the plot aroumd him, everyone knows his job to look cute and everybody is ok with it c:
the mando movie is meant to be a culmination of the tv series as a last stand against thrawn and the remnants of the empire. its basically the heir to the empire movie
Ashoka has been my favorite character when she was Introduced in the Clone Wars TV show. She has had a fantastic arc from bingo Anakin's padawan to growing into a general to leaving the Jedi Order and fighting Maul on Mandalore. Her inclusion in Rebels, leading the fighters, helping the Jedi in hiding, and then fighting Darth Vader bringing her story full circle in season 2…that should’ve been where her story ended, in my opinion. Ever since then, she’s just been a character who's there. She doesn’t really have agency. I’ve watched her show, and if I’m being honest, Sabine was the protagonist of that show because she had more agency and development than Ashoka did IMO. And Thrawn stole the show the moment he was introduced. I hate to say it, but Ashoka felt like a side character in her own story, functioning as a plot device for most of the other characters like Hera and Ezra. That’s probably why most Star Wars fans are looking at this show with an air of "meh."
Crazy how big deadpool got as a character after that first movie before that the only people that knew him were the comic readers before that movie than all of a sudden he's one if the biggest characters in pop culture
I think his appearances in the Ultimate Spider-man cartoon and his own Video Game effected it as well. Just cause I remember how popular the character was a few years before the movie was released solely on that alone in the comic shops and nerd merch shops like 2012 to 2014 Harley Quinn and Deadpool were being pushed heavily in those kinds of stores in my area.

If you want a decent one-off IDW Transformers GN, get the Last Stand of The Wreckers. Easily digestible for a transformer layman. It's one self-contained mini starring mostly irrelevant characters, so you need to know practically nothing. Also it's fucking insane, I say in the most positive way possible
Really don’t understand the hate Sophie’s run has had. She made Jennika more of an individual character than the previous writers could do, brought the focus of the story back to the core family than all the crazy worldbuilding nonsense with the pantheon, AND made me like Venus de Milo with a really interesting trans allegory to boot.
Regarding the Star Wars talk at the end and Sal's suggestion to use time travel, that's not how it works in Star Wars. Yes, Dave Filoni did invent a form of time travel, but it runs on time loops and paradoxes. Anything that we've seen happen will always happen, anything that a character changes by way of the World Between Worlds was always destined to be, there was never a moment where they did not do that. There is a multiverse in Star Wars in so much as there are different universes (Canon, Legends, LEGO, Infinities, The Star Wars, every Visions short is technically in its own universe), but there is no way to jump between them, nor do they branch into new realities should someone travel in time. The World Between Worlds has a lot of restrictions as to how it works, and it even has other functions than time travel with how it was used in the Ahsoka series. It's quite possible that it's very much a different experience for every person that is given access which is quite possibly at the discretion of the Force (if it has a will at all, it's still vague), but there are still some concrete things we do know about it from what we've seen in the Rebels and Ahsoka, and from what Dave has been willing to share in interviews. Now in regards to if it even was possible to erase the Sequel Trilogy, that's essentially going to unravel everything all the way back to the reboot button from April 25, 2014, which erases anything you do like because if you erase the Sequel Trilogy, you have to erase any tie-in material that references those events, or works as setup to them. However if you do that, then you have to erase anything else that references or sets up those things, too, and it goes on and on until you lose Rebels, Rogue One, The Mandalorian, the Final Season of Clone Wars, Fallen Order and Survivor, Andor, the Doctor Aphra comics, Charles Soule's runs on Darth Vader, the Bloodlines novel, Bad Batch, anything that a decent number of fans can generally agree are good, and anything that you may like in your own niche way, all of that gets thrown away. Everything is just too interconnected 10 years in, and Star Wars doesn't work like superhero comics where things are constantly being rebooted and/or thrown away as they continue to go on in a fairly linear fashion for the most part, we're bouncing all over the timeline with each new installment to fill in the gaps of the Star Wars Universe's history. I'm not saying that Canon or Legends is better, but as you're already well aware, Star Wars fans are really passionate about what they like, but we're also already pretty fractured, the last thing you want to do is say that their favorite stories no longer matter. Disney did that with Legends, but for the most part it's all still there, just in another universe, and there's 35 years of stories to explore, it's only disappointing if a particular storyline you follow ends up being cut short because of the reboot. If you start invoking time travel and actively undoing stuff in the current canon though, you're going to create way more problems than you think you're solving. And as for Ahsoka and all of Dave Filoni's characters, I won't lie, while I do like him and his Star Wars, and I do like his characters, I feel he is a bit too over reliant on them and putting them into situations of importance they don't really need to be. Honestly, Ahsoka should have probably died at the end of the Clone Wars or during Rebels. The ultimate plan for the whole Mando-Verse is to basically do this big bombastic thing that the Sequels never did that felt satisfying, and hopefully Ahsoka will die doing something badass so that her story can finally be over and Dave can finally move on to new characters, but the Sequels are still going to happen, so it kind of doesn't really matter anyway. The safest bet is to do what Benny suggested, and just do things that don't reference the Sequels anymore, but that's also kind of what the Mando-Verse is kind of doing, too, there have been some seeds put in place for them, vague as they may be, and it's just the way things are. Also it's kind of tradition in Star Wars to add backstory and give new context to things that were not as successful upon initial release, and while that may not make the individual stories any better in quality, the overall perception of the era a story takes place in can become more enjoyable. But you know, I'm sure Sal didn't read any of this anyway, I'm just saying this so that it's out there.

I'm not mad at him, and I'm not blaming him for thinking about the World Between Worlds the way he does, but it's more complicated than just undoing the sequels. I can't just say, "That's not how it works," and that be the end of it, I really do have to explain further because it's a big misconception that many have. And it's not because I feel I have the correct interpretation and must proselytize, when the guy that created the thing says, "That's not how it works," then that's not how it works. However, once I hit a second paragraph, I knew he was never going to read it, so I put in that jab at the end because it was a futile effort. If I had the ability to write shorter comments, I would, but it's just my nature.

Benny dove back to see what Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy's true context was for the statements being used against her to put down the Rey movie before its even begun production, and debunked all those folks as goobers just out to get clicks and fan the flames of confirmation bias. Those guys are rightfully being called out because they aren't fact checking or are ignorant. It's not anywhere near to the same degree, but I know that from what I've seen Sal share online, that he did not finish watching Rebels (I want to say it was on an episode of Elseworld's Exchange, although I won't deny the possibility he has since because that was years ago), and he hears a number of things second hand from a friend for stories that have Dave Filoni's fingerprints on them (mainly animated, but also most recently, Ahsoka). The World Between Worlds is also one of those things that people love or hate, even if they loved Rebels start to finish, and perhaps his friend is not a fan of the concept and just boiled it down to straight time travel when it's not nearly that simple (not to mention there's many different types of time travel). I think it's then irresponsible to suggest it be used to undo things in the current canon because of how its mechanics don't allow that with what Dave Filoni has specified in interviews and commentaries that Sal has most likely not encountered. I know that Sal is much more of an expert in the realm of comics, so I'm going to trust him in that area, and I respect him too much to then see him speak about something I know he has gaps in, either from a lack of knowledge, misunderstanding, or prejudice given the platforms he has access to because he isn't one of those goobers just trying to make bank off hate. If it was just something Sal said as a joke, I'd let it go, but I know it's out of frustration for the things he doesn't like that's coming out of Lucasfilm in recent years, and I've seen similar pitches to his too many times. I'm going to disagree a lot with what Sal says about Star Wars when it's an opinion piece, and I'll keep quiet on a lot of it because we might as well be oil and water with the likes and dislikes, but when he is just straight incorrect, I feel it is something to point out. So yes, I guess I need to be right, but my intention was to share information. The more informed, the better a conversation can be. I'm not trying to one-up Sal just to get high on being correct because even though I'm absolutely going to disagree with him on his opinions for what is good or bad in current day Star Wars, I don't want him to stop talking Star Wars online, just to have more knowledge to make any arguments he's backing to be stronger. If I'm doing that wrong, I'll just have to work on more constructive ways to go about doing so in the future.
