For a beginner, it's hard to understand what you need to do and where you need to go when first diving into J2534 Flashing. I decided to make a little guide/walkthrough on the steps it takes to successfully use the J2534 devices and subscriptions. All the information out there currently is either old and out dated or non existent on this topic. It's a hard learning curve, but it doesn't have to be!

Just to clarify. When it asks for you to register your J2534 device and enter a serial number. It’s the serial number for your laptop not the actual J2534 device. It’s confusing. Get the serial number from witech software and click the help/about tab, then register as the video states. It takes 24 hours so do it ahead of time.

Thank you, I am trying to do this after hours and my Jbox don't have that many digits for the serial number. It is very frustrating

Still a little unclear about (1Yr) ECU Flash Subscription vs (1Mo) VIN Subscription, can you expand on that a little? If I want to flash BCM, ABS, PCM, etc as well as work witt DTCs which one should I acquire? GREAT Video, very helpful

Thanks for the comment, I reached out to the wiTech Support Desk to get a more in-depth response to the differences. Here is the reply I got with minor grammar/spelling fixes lol: "The wiTECH 2 subscription is to make the connection to the vehicle, the VIN subscription is to make the connection to the vehicle only for a specific VIN, the ECU flash subscription is required to flash the modules, and Tech Authority is where the flash files are for the vehicles and where you download the files, vehicles before 2006 only require Tech Authority. From 2006 onwards you need wiTECH, ECU and Tech Authority." Hope this helps explain it a little better.

The wiTech Support recommends the wiTech, ECU Flash, and TechAuthority subscriptions for all vehicles 2006 and up. Before 2006 you will only need the TechAuthority subscription

Does the vin subscription allow all access from the other tabs on just one vin?

The Vin Subscription allows full access to flash different components in the vehicle. You still have to purchase the TechAuthority Subscription also in order to have access to the flash files themselves.
