FDNY, NYPD, MTA Emergency, and more responding to Manhattan All Hands Box 7310, train derailment and collision on the IRT 1/2/3 line at Broadway just north of West 96th Street. Full walk through of vehicles with as many arrivals as we could catch! We had the scanner on so there's a lot of dispatch audio in the background.
NYPD SRG 1 driving the wrong way in the bike lane 04:20
Engine 53 arrival with siren 04:50
43 Truck arrival with siren 05:18
MTA Emergency Response with siren 05:45
Engine 39 and High Rise Unit 2 with sirens and air horns - air horn on HRU2 sounding weird 08:46
Ladder 28 - good siren, lousy video 13:34
Special Operations Command 18:28
MERV 1 arrival with siren 18:36
Collapse Rescue 1 leaving with siren and air horn 18:44

Several nice catches, great video! I think the High Rise Unit’s air horn needs some maintenance. 😂

Thanks! Yeah, as soon as it got close we noticed that 😂

Wow! Great work, as usual. First off, I love how you give a little update about what’s going on, but unlike some others buffs, you don’t talk for the entire video, and let the footage speak for itself. Also, great catches of the Collapse Unit and Hi-Rise 2!

Thanks! My son recognized the sirens and knew high rise 2 was coming from way around the block on Broadway-if he hadn’t, I don’t know if we would have gotten there fast enough. He has some great commentary sometimes but doesn’t want it in the videos!

Thanks, and I don’t know! I’ve never seen it before. My guess is either MTA (there were lots of MTA vehicles we’ve never seen before there yesterday) or maybe NYPD.

I am French and amazed at all the vehicles they hire from everywhere. in France we try to measure the proportion of vehicles engaged to prevent the sector from finding itself empty and no longer able to intervene. Is this the case in New York?

Yes, they will relocate other companies into the area for coverage

I don’t know the details of the dispatch policy-I’ve been trying to find out more about it-but they definitely start by using the closest available units, and whatever special units are required. But as they get into multiple alarms/major incidents, there are usually more distant ones mixed in, not only the next closest ones, so they’re not pulling everything from that area onto one incident. And if units are operating more than 30 minutes, they usually send a relocator from somewhere else to go to their quarters and cover their response area. During really big events requiring extensive resources they’ll sometimes implement a “fallback step 3”, where other calls get fewer than the normal number of units assigned.

Even with all the units at the scene, the rest of Manhattan had coverage. If needed they'll bring in units from the outer boroughs to cover.

Was looking out for Rescue 1 but then realised it wasn't their area of Manhattan, hence why we see Rescue 3 on scene...then suddenly their she was..

We were excited to find R3 because it’s not often we get to see it. But yeah I think there were 2 rescues on the box!

In the USA everything is a show. They mobilize so many units that they get in each other's way. and always making a lot of noise, which is also part of

Typical NYC overreacting
@TripleJFire
@TripleJFire 6 месяцев назад
I dunno, this was a pretty big incident. More than 20 injured and the train was very much derailed!
@CPR12345

If they did not “overreact” and you where involved in this incident and needed help, you would be the first person to ask why they did not overreact. 😬🤷🏻‍♂️🙄🤬🤡

If they didn’t overreact you would have something to say about that too. Do the world a favor and stay off the internet.

Speaking as someone who was involved with the response for an Amtrak vs freight train incident, I wish we had these resources available to us.

Good point. Some of these people are just buffs. For example @ 4:33 the cops did not have to go on the opposite side of traffic. Cops are not really needed in this response. ESU and Fire are the main ones to have the equipment. NYC just likes spending money on unnecessary stuff. If they needed help they will call for it.

Why do you trying to talk like the firefighters? Just talk like a normal human being.. No need for radio codes.
@CPR12345

Radio codes are shorter than words to define the radio codes.
