Oh man, Chaosphere. I often wonder if my infatuation with mid-to-late 90's metal is merely nostalgia, but then I revisit these albums with fresh ears and they just hit like nothing else. It was a golden age, and I'll die on that hill! 🎃 Thanks for checking out the channel!

I just can't stop my brain going to Max Cavalera and how Fear Factory had profound effect on what he wanted to sound like first on Chaos A.D. (1993)with Sepultura and then Soulfly etc. and therefore how nearly any so called nu metal sounded. I saw somewhere that they embraced Fear Factory and wanted to get that right on Roots. But that's all common opinion opinion today, I think.

Nice! I first saw them at Ozzfest '97, right before they went into the studio for Obsolete. It just blew my mind that they sounded so good live. I thought it was just "studio magic" that made SoaNM and Demanufacture sound so great, but those guys were the real deal. Thanks for watching!
@Jasonv078
@Jasonv078 Месяц назад
Exactly. Almost every person who is into rock/metal is always into the traditional stuff, not much into Alt/Industrial stuff. Most people only want to play traditional rock or Thrash/Death/Black metal or Metalcore, but not Alt or Industrial which is a shame, i guess its also because of the difficulties of making electronic sounds and getting the right gear to do so and the lack of practicality it represents as opposed to just pick a guitar or a drumset. Happens a lot in my country, you either play in a death metal band or in a ska band, but theres no middle ground in here. 😢

They formed on October 31st 1990. FF has stated that many times over the years, but someone keeps changing their wiki to '1989' even after Dino said he himself changed it to the right date.
@SoundsPrettyGrim
@SoundsPrettyGrim Месяц назад
Yeah that was actually a bit I was struggling with... I kept seeing '89 and '90 different places. In the end, I chose to go with '89 because I figured whoever was editing the wikipedia article had already gone down that internet rabbit hole to figure out which one was indeed true, but it sounds like that's not the case. In my heart I wanted it to be the Halloween date, though, so I'm glad to hear that it's the correct one after all. Thanks for watching!

IMO Mechanize topped Demanufacture, Obsolete had a level of refinement and excellent mix compared with Demanufacture & the songs were bust a bit better too, Obeolete was Peak Mk1 lineup, Digimortal was a bit of a miss-step but still top tier, Archetype was a strong attempt at trying to sound like the same band but with transgression was it's namesake, terrible and worst release they have ever made. Mechanize was the ultimate revival being 2 parts Strapping Young Lad and the most important parts of the Fear Factory sound fused into the most relentlessly powerfull Fear Factory album ever, a very concise statement album like Demanufacture, The industrialist likewise seemed like an attempt to re-do Obsolete and fails to hold interest IMO, Genexus was quite good, not a bad song on it too. The latest involves too much cinematic cliche sounds and is sort of annoying to listen to at times but is less than Genexus & Industrialist IMO. Obsolete was my favorite for many years until Mechanize came out. Still great in their top 5 realeases, despite the issues and lineup changes they've done very well in terms of quality if you do not consider Transgression in that.
@SoundsPrettyGrim
@SoundsPrettyGrim Месяц назад
I really loved Mechanize, too. Gene and Byron have such distinctive styles that I kind of wish they just dropped the Fear Factory name at that point and just started a brand new band, and still play FF stuff live, but grow in directions that Fear Factory couldn't... for whatever reason. Team Obsolete over Demanufacture all day. Been revisting FF in preparation for this video. I think in the revolving door-lawsuit party era, The Industrialist is the best record. A dystopian concept record much like Obsolete, with a probably bleaker ending. Also interesting, the original is just Burton and Dino with a drum machine, then a couple years ago they released a new version with live drums and a few other tweaks to the sound. Good record either way.

Oh I am dragging out DWS for as long as I can 🎃 I actually have a dear friend who's an electronic musician and an even bigger NIN fan than I am, and we're planning on collaborating on a NIN-inspired musical score for that one. Just gotta get the timing right. It's gonna be worth the wait; I really don't want to rush and f-k up a NIN episode because NIN fans have, shall we say, kind of an odd sense of humor. Also, rest assured that it's not the only NIN release on my list of potential episodes, by far! Do you mean the Queen of the Damned movie or the soundtrack, or both? I didn't finish the movie, but I probably have enough to say about my incredible nostalgia for the original Interview with the Vampire film that I could perhaps watch it for a double feature episode. If you mean the soundtrack... maaaaaaybe, I did listen to it recently and it definitely does its own thing, and I'm not a big Korn fan but boy oh boy Jonathan Davis has a really strong and identifiable songwriting style. I hated it after how amazing demanufacture was. Resurrection sounded like Bon Jovi trying to do death metal 😂 never listened to anything new from them since, up until a couple of days ago. That's why I definitely recommend that new listeners start with Demanufacture.
