Video just came out 55 seconds ago but something tells me The librarian is gonna talk about how comfy and cozy this chapter is and I’m gonna enjoy every second of it.
@@baussier134Someone said that the Shovel Guy was the fake Radio Worker, He basically hitchhiked in your RV, Got to the camp, and got out while you were talking to the other park ranger (the figure walking in the background)
1:09:45 When I saw that shadow on the wall with the horns protruding out of it's head it sent shivers down my whole body for a second, definitely a good silent warning if you pay attention
I saw that too but thought I was overthinking since The Librarian didn't acknowledged it.. and I have to be honest i literally yelled when the creature emerged behind the corner, I don't think that's ever happened to me before 😅
At 58:11 I think there's an urban legend that if you hear a whistle off in the woods it's some sort of creature. But the scary thing is if you follow that whistle and it will continue to be in the same distance that you heard it from. And it will continue to lure you out into the woods farther and farther and farther off the trail. It's very scary. That's all I remember also, it will send you into some sort of trance or you will continue to follow the whistle
Also the scary thing about it is you will hear the whistling and you will be in the trance. But the thing is you will literally be walking for miles and miles and miles until you die or are found. There's this story. Obviously it's probably not true but a rescue person like somebody who goes out and finds children or lost people was missing for 3 days because of the whistling
just reminded me there's a mythical creature or cryptid that the closer it sounds to you the farther away it is and the further away it sounds the closer it is, but i can't remember the name of that creature. i think it was associated with the forests too. idk if you're talking about that same creature or a different one
Played it the night of release. I enjoyed it, but there are a number of unanswered questions. - Who was whistling? - What happened at the campsite? - Who was the “radio tower” worker? - What happened to the camera with the photo? It must be digital because those photos where on the guy’s phone when he tried to send scenic pictures he took to his sister. - Why did no one believe him, including Billy who knew what is in the woods? - Why did nothing come from the guy hiding in your bathroom? Kind of a letdown, but the atmosphere is fantastic.
Supposedly based on a real story so you won't always get the answers, actually kind of enjoy it that way. Except nobody believing him that was pure dumbassery on the storytellers part lol.
@@TheLibrarianYT yeah, really weird i mean even the texting ui is weird since it resembles more of an old mac look than any old phone especially from 2002.
@@Spealer Aside from the final photograph being a plot hole for the ending, I can overlook the rest. My suggestion would have been another chapter or two of buildup, maybe explaining the radio tower worker or whistler (or rather, just giving us more of them being creepy). The "creepy" factor prior to the final chase scene was really well done and I wanted more of that.
So, Connor's tower was still occupied at the time of his last message to Jack... The photo contained 8 cultists..... Which... Matches the number of occupied firewatch towers besides Jack's and Connor's... Is this a coincidence?
YEEEEES, I've been waiting for this. Can't wait to hear The Lieberman talking about how creepy and comfy this is for 2 hours straight. You're my go-to RU-vidr for horror games and such. I haven't watched anyone who was invested on the games like you. Other people just rush the games and make unfunny jokes every 5 minutes but you actually experience the game instead of just zooming across the entire game and your sense of humour is perfect. You don't make jokes too often but when you do, they hit harder than a train. You're the perfect RU-vidr for horror games. I love you.
@FranciumBoron it's positive. I always felt do you Copy was a little too short and this takes everything I liked about that game and makes it 10x better
Y'know, being a firewatch operator is probably just a lot of dead air you have to sit through, but the game Firewatch really cemented for me just how cozy it can be, and I can't help being attracted to the thought of being huddled up in one of those firewatch towers, just peacefully looking over the tree tops. Even this game couldn't really douse the flame of that for me, not likely I'll ever actually end up doing it but I can fantasize.
⚠️[BIG SPOILER ALERT]⚠️ Ok, hold on, so nobody is going to talk about how the protag just took a picture of the cult and the ending just ignored that part?!?!?!
I like Librarian because they'll sense and see details that others miss - I already saw this game on another channel, but they rushed & memed through it, making this game seem like a joke. Completely different sense of the game while watching Librarian go through it. Everything is more intentioned, thoughtful.
My cat just died a few hours ago, I’ve been crying since yesterday because I knew he was going to go soon, today we are going to bury him and I wanted to watch you to distract me from reality, thank you so much for the content, I’m very serious about that, I’ve always liked horror, and that’s why I love your channel
@@jesusramirezromo2037 You've got the savoury flavour of the burger and the bittersweet flavour of the coffee and they just work! I'd rather have a coffee with a burger than a cola. Cola pairs better with pizza, where it sweetness and tartness cuts through the creaminess and oiliness of the cheese and the sauce.
If you couldn't tell animals don't have a sense of rhythm so the whistle sound that repeated at the same tone and pitch actually had to be a Human. it's perfect for someone aware of wildlife and birdsong (Which are actually just different calls to express situation or mating) the whistling starts from what I can tell at the campsite. so the guy was trailing you for a good while whistling.
1:33:57 i always think its fun to note that in night of the living dead by the end of the movie it turns out hiding in the basement WAS the right call, they didn't break in and ben is the only one who survived the night
Ah yes, my favourite drink, Strawberry Sulsh. All jokes aside, I really enjoy the 'realistic' textures and models, but the screen filters and lighting just give the most atmosphere! I really enjoy this so far! For some reason the training tape dude sounds like Jacksepticeye lmao!!!!! The intonations are very uncanny, I wonder if it is really him. Edit: the credits say it’s him! Ahah that’s so cool!!
I love your uploads, Librarian, but I think I'll have to skip this one. I'd rather not spook myself too bad before the next fire season. Reason: I'm a candidate for my region's firewatch crew, more specifically as a lookout observer.
@@ItsJustDoctor Not entirely sure yet. 2024 will be my first time doing it. I've got family in wildfire firefighting, and hopefully one day I can do it too, but I both need to get my foot in the door somewhere and I need to get into much better shape. Being a lookout observer is a way in, and a means to get some exercise while also learning how to spot wildfires and deal with them in whatever area I'm assigned.
Also, it's really clever that he has you turning just a hair too soon, so you're catching the tail end of the NPC asset teleporting onto the screen. That plus the violin sting is shockingly effective, and I usually HATE the horror stings.
25:20 I wish you had checked back into your trailer before heading into the woods. I have a feeling that whoever walked outside the window moments earlier was also a stowaway in your trailer and you would've found the bathroom door unjammed now. Also, I think Silas and the shovel guy from the diner were the same player model. Might as well have been him.
Why the hell would they have "written" a satisfying ending? Since it's a real-life story, the ending should be authentic to what actually happened in reality. I wasn't surprised for a second when no one believed him, that's exactly what I expected to happen in this situation.
@@Megawaps Nah, this is obviously a fake story, or at least one with a lot of creative embellishments. Besides, the enjoyability of the game should take priority.
@@georgeofhamilton What are you talking about? There's nothing "not real" in this story aside from some minor inconveniences, but they are forgiving, since the narrator could have forgot something after more then 20 years. Adapting real stories into games is the entire point of this game series.
@@georgeofhamilton "Based on" can have a very wide range of following the canon from small differences to only taking the key idea from some story. Those games, however, aren't "based on" stories, they (while obviously having some small differences from the original for the game to be playable and atmospheric) are aimed at recreating the story instead of just creating some new one based on the generic idea.
In the computer game at 1:34:09, those hallways are almost identical (or the same shape) as the "Rewind of Die" game. I remember that similar music (Duke Nukem type rock) was also playing, while we had to escape from the slayer with the pig mask while we found levers and opened valves to escape from that area...
I’ve been on a Left 4 Dead kick recently, and I feel like it would be fun to see you explore Left 4 Dead maps - perhaps with no mobs. Not sure, but in any case I love the content you put out!! Keep it up!
So happy another Fears video came out from you! We’ve been waiting eagerly. Now I’m off to watch the video, gotta make my popcorn first. I treat Librarian videos like an event.
Thanks for being relisble, even when I've had a bad day. I can count on you for some creepy and comfy and also a few little chuckles. Please keep it up, and stay safe.
Im with you on Conner's voice got me giggling and kicking my feet lol it also got me feeling a lil sus like why is he the only character that gets a voice? Maybe its to enhance that feeling of loneliness when he signs off each night? Really hammer home hes our only interaction most days or maybe he plays a bigger part to the mystery.
things i like about this chapter: -atmosphere was on point. -the campsite up north had a spirit box and emf reader that the player character didn't address. only players who know what those are would notice. -the shadow on the wall was genius -the boss man said "may the god have mercy" and not "may god have mercy" which, while it contradicts the "i thought you were one of them" at the start, makes me suspect him for a cultist. -the whistling calls back to goatman myths perfectly. things i'm not too fond of: -jack took a photograph... and yet not even his family believes him? what happened to the photo?
@@counterfeit1148 We see him fumble after seeing them, and since the photo or the phone don't come up after, we can logically assume that he dropped it.
Legend has it that if you go camping overnight in the woods, a Safety Glock can be your best friend. To be honest I’d prefer something in .357 magnum or .50AE but that’s just me.
Was actually looking forward to his playthrough of this. These FtF games are something I look forward to playing. "Slay the Princess" comes out today and seems like it'll also be up his alley.
I like hearing jack do more and more voiceover cause he seems to really enjoy playing any type of character just to put a personality to it and yeah it’s a him the green hair hits to it
Thanks for this thriller of a video. Real edge-of-your-seat-stuff. I like the immersion you manage to create. Just found your channel today, but couldn't help but subscribing.
So I discovered you a few days ago and I’m loving your videos! I’m not really huge into watching people play games. Especially for a long time but I’ve been binge watching you the last few nights while I lay in bed on my way to sleep. I was even watching when my 5 year old caught some of it and said to me, “Daddy, this is satisfying!” lol. Anyway, there’s a couple games I think you might want to know about and I’ll just list them, 1. Hypnospace Outlaw (amazing win95 mystery). 2. Happy Humble Burger Farm 3. Not For Broadcast. (Best FMV game ever made) Looking forward to more indie games. Thank you for doing what you do.
Lowkey sounded like Librarian was crushing for Connor with some of the things he said but I’m not going to go and make any bold assumptions I shouldn’t be making lol, just an observation of mine
Homie acidentally intercepted the annual gathering for KKK out in the woods. When he took the picture, they were just about to light a cross on fire, have dinner together, get drunk and tell racist and antisemetic jokes all night. All they really wanted was to borrow some maranara sauce and pepperoni for their pizzas.
Fun(?) fact, something VERY similar to that happened to my parents the year I was born! (mom was still pregnant with me at the time.) They were camping on Stone Mountain and woke up in the middle of the night to this obnoxiously bright light outside of their tent ,and were afraid they didn't kill their fire properly, and that their chairs had caught on fire or something... only for my dad to look outside and see a jolly ol' cross burning happening a ways away in the trees. They both think it's mostly just funny now, if distantly disturbing in a "that could've gone so wrong" kind of way, but my mom was apparently haunted by the possibilities of that night for YEARS afterward, being a white lady married to and pregnant with the kid of a black man. She's never gone back to Stone Mountain since then.
My god, I've been SUPER excited to play this. Very happy it's finally out, and now I can watch one of my favorite youtubers and have myself shit their pants and overthink every little detail.
It's always nice seeing librarian casually talk about being gay. It feels nice to have come far enough in queer rep that stuff like him talking about how cute the guys voice is just feels normal.
If I remember correctly, he's actually Gynosexual , meaning he prefers people with more feminine qualities, so that voice would definitely fall into his preference
At 54:11, in the center of the table you can see an "EMF K2" magnetic field meter (white version) and a P-SB7T "spirit box" from the ITC Research Device company, both devices are reminiscent of the early days from Phasmophobia and other paranormal hunting games. Excellent gameplay, keep it up and greetings.
I knew I recognized that radio as a Spirit Box! I didn't see the EMF reader though, probably because I am used to the black one in more modern versions (Or the Tier 2 ones nowadays)
Apparently, actual firewatch towers have gates on the stairs to prevent trespassers from getting in and deter wildlife. Having those would solve a lot of the problems these fictional watchmen apparently have. Or give the players a false sense of security against intelligent antagonists who will likely find a way to bypass the gate(s).
Thank you for the vid. I haven't been able to be scared by much in a while all the jump scares are perfect and you can't predict them and I should not be watching this at 3:00 a.m. Hope to see more horror videos even though your channel is all about creepy and comfy, I still like your horror content
i'm really glad they made an installment where the source of horror was at least a Little supernatural in nature; the same home invasion/stalking plots can only carry the series so far, even if the atmosphere is nailed. it'd just become a game of finding which were the red herrings and when to jump out and run. but the change in setting and nature of the threat really helped it out. definitely the best so far.
The Whistle in the Woods reminds me of a RU-vid horror channel where people upload their Reddit Story, one of the story had a video of a guy during his camping trip where he had an alleged stalker that keep whistling. The guy took his camera and filmed the whistling sound and shouted at him.
