You went over everything except for the pay scale/schedule?

Oh yeah, oops. Thanks. I was getting paid once a month for episodes that posted at least a week before the pay date. so if I was paid on the 15th, I wasn't paid for the episodes that came out between the 1st and the 14th until next month. I didn't get paid at all until the comic had been up for at least a month because of this schedule. I didn't get an advance or pre-payment before I started working. That's not to say you can't.

@@Melodym1ke Pay varies a lot. popularity prolly has a big impact. Production costs. Contract negotiation. There's also ad revenue which is variable on views. I don't know the average revenue per view though. The default contract episode pay is more than US min wage if you can do 40 panels a week for a single person team.

Just to make sure I understand, you can post your own webcomic on webtoons for free, but you will not be paid unless you become a featured artist? Your videos are super helpful!!! Thanks a ton for making them.

Yes, that is mostly correct. You can put your comic up on Webtoon without asking anyone's permission, people will be able to access and read your comic for free, you will receive zero money. However, if your comic becomes very popular, Webtoon will start sharing ad revenue with you. It is a crazy amount of traffic that you have to generate though, but they also have a huge amount of readers, so maybe note impossible. @@walterostlie actually I believe that you can make money on webtoon canvas but it is dependent on viewership per episode and it's not much

@@ob1934 Correct, it's their ad revenue share program. I mentioned it. You need 1000 subscribers and 40,000 pages views a month.

Thanks for the resources and insight into being a featured webtoon creator! The videos have been real enlightening and I learned a bunch of useful info from it:) Still getting a feel for working on canvas/discover right now, but your experience makes me real excited to continue releasing on Webtoon! Do you think that it's real important to layout the panels in the vertical scrolling format for webtoons vs laying out the page more like a standard comic/manga page? Thanks!

I don't think it is critical to do a vertical layout. However if you do, you can take full advantage of the format and possibly make the comic more engaging to readers. It is a little tricky getting used to it, especially if you've done a lot of traditional comics. Think about it this way. Sometimes when one language is translated to another language, things are "lost in translation". The general idea comes across, but some of the subtlety is lost. I think it is the same for translating a comic page to vertical scroll and vice versa.

@@walterostlie hmm well i think if we did use a vertical format, it'd be a case where the comic pages are still made in the standard format and after that the panels would be cut and rearranged to the vertical scrolling to keep the option open for print down the road. But I definitely can see what youre saying where we would have some stuff lost in translation. May just have to try a page or two out by converting it to the webtoon format and see how it turns out haha Thanks!

Will the webtoon you publish in canvas became the one who will become the featured if chosen? Or will they ask you to make new story/webtoon for them to post in originals?

Hi, love your super informative content! Just wondering, is there a work hours obligation with the contract (Like Mon - Fri 9-5?)/ also fines for cancelling the contract? I have a full time job but I have made a webtoon in my free time so I was hoping it get features sometime.

Great question. No, there is no 9-5 requirement. You just need to turn in a new episode every week. It doesn't matter how or when you do it. There isn't a fine for cancelling, but it should be something that is discussed.

I think they'd want a weekly posting. But they would just let you build a buffer first. Then they'd post it weekly.

I believe so yes. It may depend on the country and their rules with money, but I don't know enough about that to say yes or no to any specific country.

This video really helped a lot, but do you know the age you can be to publish your webtoon comic and maybe become featured and payed possibly with parents permission, I think the age is 13 or 14+ with parents permission but I'm not too sure?

Yeah, you have to be at least 13 to post, if you're under 18, you need parent's permission.

Can I ask whether if you write your webtoon story until the ending (including development, plot, new characters etc) before actually publish it? Regardless being featured artist or not *excuse my english 🙏

I pretty much have the entire main, first story written. Start to end, with all the important characters designed. However I want to stress just the first story. A lot of people get stuck making up huge giant stories with millions of characters and lifetime worth of stories. Just get enough stuff for your first story and start making it real. It can be good to have an idea about more stories and be thinking about new characters/places, but you have to put a limit otherwise you will never start.

I do have a clear ending, but my problem is the small event happening throughout the story to make it interesting :/ Anyway thank you so much for your feedback ✨✨

You get a webtoon employed editor if your a featured original. You can hire editors on your own though. I'd suggest reaching out to Chas Pangburn or Andrea Molinari.

Uhmm can I ask if you got featured on one webtoon story and it already finished can you get featured again? or is it getting featured can be permanent??? Will you go back to zero again creating another story and waiting to get featured??? I don't know much about this getting featured thing and I can't find anything on Google so I was searching on RU-vid... Yes, you can have a second featured comic. You are not guaranteed your next comic will be featured. You will have to go through the same pitching process and have the editors agree your second comic is the right fit for Webtoon. However, you will already be in contact with the editors, so you don't have to start from zero. One of the hardest parts of being published is getting in touch with editors, but a featured creator already has that. On the flip side, you also have the option of making a second comic on your own and not being featured, you are not forced to only do featured comics.

if you show what they consider a good webtoon from story to art and have a decent upload schedule will they still hire you if you are under the age of 18, say 17?

You'd still be a minor and unable to sign a contract without a legal guardian. So you may have to wait in that case. But becoming featured isn't just a quick change. There would be a lot of conversation and contracts, and it all takes time to get written up, so maybe by the time you're ready to sign, you'd be 18 ;-)

They asked me if I wanted to pitch them a story. I do not believe they have open submissions. So you can't randomly submit something. You can freely post your comic on their website for free. I can't really say exact amounts because of my contract. It's a decent amount. You won't buying a Lamborghini but maybe pay your rent for a few months.

There are originals from webtoon that became an anime, is there a chance for a canvas comic to become an anime?

It's possible. A studio would have to reach out to you or you'd have to pitch the idea to a studio. In the case of the tower of god, webtoon facilitated it.

Never ever heard of a red frog. Sour punch straw is a gummy like string, sorta of like a licorice/twizzler, but covered is sour sugar crystals. www.candywarehouse.com/assets/item/regular/Sour-Punch-Straws-BlueRaspberry-ic-130224.jpg
