Yeh such a spectacle seeing him beat an injured man. If you think Delpo wasn't injured look at the point around 18:50 and tell us he beat a healthy Delpo. Whilst Delpo was fit he was bludgeoning the ball to all corners.
+Game Ovais fighting back from 2 sets down is incredible. And staying healthy is probably the number one skill of any great champion so theres nothing wrong with saying that federer played an awesome match here.
He Is too tall. Tall guys have a tendency to move slowly. That's why the most successful players are tall, but not huge. Means, Nadal, Federer Djokovic, Sampras, Agassi (recent years)
@@4lugan yeah I know, but he also get a lot of injuries. when he was like 17-18, still tall but younger, it was ridiculous what he was able to do. Ofc the best is to be somehow less tall. Nadal or berdich may have almost the perfect one for today´s phisical trainings.
As a fed fan, he won this because at the third Set DelPo's knee was hurting him, hence the low games from him at the 3rd, 4th, and 5th set...who knows if delpo would've won this tournament
Fittest man wins, it is like a marathon and you can't sprint in the beginning and tired half way. Mind you, he went for big shots coz he wasn't 100% so he swung freely. That comes at a cost.
Since this match to the present, Del Potro never returned to play French Open. 5 years ago. I hope this year he will have a triunfal comeback to the French's courts.
While I agree with this, I think Federer would appreciate an opportunity to get another chance at French Open final and get that second French Open title. Surely, that would look better than a 6th US Open. His resume would be more well rounded.
It was nearly a day of upsets as fed came back from 2 sets down. Meanwhile djokovic came back from 2 sets to 1 and two match points down vs Tsonga on Philip chatrier. Still cant believe this was all 8 years ago almost!?
18682sandeep given that he has beat federer once in a grand slam and was 11-2 at that point in H2H i would say it would have been an upset but not a shocker. Same could be said about the match at Philip chatrier.
Damien 沈 These guys play the game by predicting where the ball will be at a certain point, it's not purely reaction based. Because the ball skidded off the line, the bounce was irregular and Roger had to adjust his swing which means he lost power.
no, it didn't touch the line, the bounce was regular, but roger was busy so much fixing where juan was going to go that he overrun the ball a bit. at first roger wanted to go inside out. juan saw that and made a move as if he was gone go after the inside out, so roger adapted thinking juan was gone be reaching for his inside out and played in what he thought was going to be an open corner. but since juan faked it , he was there waiting in case roger was going to adapt, which he did. I agree it is about predicting but also about tactics, disguise and tricking the opponent.
He wasn't at his best here, he doesn't look fit to me, but he played great regardless. I think after this year he started to think about changing his racquet and some aspect of his game since he was getting older.
