Novak and Rafa Novak and Murray Novak and Roger better Rafa vs ROger was too onesided - Rafa was far better as a whole That's why Novak and Rafa are fighting for the GOAT title and Fed is crying in his own backyard
@@JoshuaMutsawuLol Nadal destroyed fed pretty much everytime before which Rafa scarcely played in hard and when he played, Roger destroyed him in last few events as roger won 7 out of last 8 against Nadal, out of which 6 were in hard and 1 in grass and 1 in clay(which rafa won). So it was onesided from the start for Rafa and at the end for Roger, so they didn't push the boundaries, whereas Roger-Novak was evenly distributed(except maybe grandslams) and as for Novak-Rafa, it's the single greatest rivalry of tennis history, very evenly distributed 30-29
@@leovogts1999But talking about rivalry, Rafa Roger was not a rivalry. Novak and Rafa, now that’s a rivalry. The number 1 vs 2 of all time. Roger’s just an annoying pest…
What's funny is I used to choose a side. Now that their era is ending, I love all three of them. Not quite the same, but I realize how lucky and graced we all were as spectators of their incredible talent and personality.
In a way it was very fitting that Fedal’s last two meetings ever were at RG and Wimbledon as much as I would’ve liked to see more of them playing each other
They need to play for fun after next year. TRUST me - fans will watch them and stop going that the actual games. Well, maybe it would coincide with the games bc i know they both wouldn't want to do that anyway lol
I’m so thankful I started watching tennis and became a huge Federer fan in 2019. I never got to see him win a grand slam, but I did get to see the last year of him in elite form
@@virat5828 Play a Grand Slam final at the age of 38, almost win it after defeating Nadal in the semis and Djokovic in the final...we can be thankful to saw this man played such an incrdible tennis at this stage of his career 👌
@@virat5828 "If if if... doesn't exist". I'm always and still devastated about what happened in the final. But Novak won, even though Roger was better in this final, the serb was more clutch than Fed in the tiebreaks and this is what cost to the Swiss the title. Djokovic deserves it for his mental strength and his capability to stay calm, stay in the match despite the fact that 90% of the crowd was behind his opponent. The sport is sometimes cruel but this is only sport...
This hurts so much.... He was moving well, he saw the ball so well, he was serving well... But sadly his mental strenght was not up there with Novak, that final he Lost, was for me the most heartbreaking sport event ever, and i am a huge soccer fan, F1 , Cycling, and many others... Sometimes i think he should had stopped After last ao win, but then he came so close, so probably was the right choice.... God I miss him so much.
Both these guys, I don't know what it is, they put on the best matches of all time together. Yeah there's Djokovic vs Fed and Djokovic vs Nadal, but nothing matched the energy and emotional rollercoaster of an atmosphere that was Federer vs Nadal
Pues no has visto nada de Adrenalina.
I am looking for this comment. I am not Rafa's fan, but Federer missed too many important points. No wonder he is behind Novak and Rafa in the GOAT race.
I never expected Roger to go past 17 Slams going into the 2017 Australian Open, so to get to 20 was sweet. But losing the final was devastating, I kind of expected that it was his last shot at the time but to lose 3 tiebreak sets and 2 match points on a day when his serve was so dominant really hurt. It wasn't the fact of the loss as it was Novak, it was getting so close.
The 11 most dominant players in open era(1968 to 2023) as world no 1 are 1.Novak Djokovic=382 weeks 2.Roger Federer=310 weeks 3.Pete Sampras=286 weeks 4. Ivan Lendl=270 weeks 5.Jimmy Connors=268 weeks 6. Rafael Nadal=209 weeks 7.John McEnroe=170 weeks 8. Bjorn Borg=109 weeks 9.Andre Agassi=101 weeks 10.Llytton Hewitt=80 weeks 11.Stephan Edberg=72 weeks
Stephan Edberg is among the best and greatest 🎾 player in open era. He won everything except French open title but he reached French open finals 1 time which was close and intense match against Chang actually
Not only Stephan Edberg but Ivan lendl also reached Wimbledon finals 2 Times and lost to Boris Becker and pat cash in straight sets also Ivan Lendl is best 3/4 surfaces also (Red clay,Hard courts and Carpets)
I couldn't agree more with commentators of this match - two great champions. I fell in love with tennis because of these two. Surface doesn't matter, it was always a top level of tennis from Rafa and Roger. Huge respect to Roger for his fantastic long and prolific career. I miss him so much. And huge respect to Rafa for amazing career too, fortunately he's still with us. Thanks for 2008 Championships final to them both, it was incredible!
Probably the last great rivalry between a single handed and a double handed backhand, Nadal started the rivalry with a win and Federer winning the last match. And Federer might also be the last player to dominate the sport with a single handed backhand.
Well for me Rafa and Nole’s rivalry is greater overall. They’ve literally played the most amount of matches against each other in the history of tennis and sport man, one more meeting and it will be 60 meetings! That’s crazy, but because their H2H is closer as well currently being 30-29 to Nole, and they are only one year apart in age, so for me their rivalry is undoubtedly the greatest in the history of any sport.
@@stefanlosty444 In your opinion. Any style of tennis is subjective. I prefer gruelling gladiatorial matches which Rafa and Nole were the best at providing.
As much as I’d like to reminisce with this match ending the Fedal rivalry, knowing that in the final Roger failed to convert that 40-15, I can’t muster even watching this in a positive light. Even if Roger ended up with just 21 slams and still not the GS record holder, what a statement would it have been to win his last slam against BOTH Rafa and Nole at almost 38 years old, which would make the GOAT debate much more interesting than the “who won the most slams” argument. After all these years, Wimbledon 2019 still hurts so bad:(
I remember being quite busy those days but still had the match playing on my phone, checking it once in a while. Even as a Novak fan i skipped his match with RBA but this is a rivalry I can't miss, especially knowing it could be the last one. It gave me the nostalgia of my childhood days of Fedal finals at wimbledon. The match, the atmosphere, the ending everything was perfect. Really miss those good 'ol days.
Two amazing athletes, such great players and role models for the youngsters, the likes of which we may never seen again, that 3 way rivalry with Novak, an incredible era in sport.
6:24 Nadal's final forehand was immaculate, but this powerful backhand right here set it up. It's a shot that is STILL to this day underrated because of how dominant his forehand is, but we have seen these sorts of setups countless times for decades. I'll never forget what these two legends brought to the game and how much they have influenced my own.
Since 2016 Nadal's forehand has been the most overrated shot in tennis, he makes so many errors on that side now. Federer worked this out and attacked Nadal's forehand and won 6 of their last 7 matches, from 2016 to this one in 2019.
Loved this match, two friends, two rivals, two great champions. I still miss seeing Federer play to this day, since he was the first pro tennis player i looked up to all the way back when i first started playing tennis 15-20 years ago.
My life hasn’t been the same without Roger, and now Nadal. The legends I grew up with are retiring and I wish I would have appreciated them more while they were here
What a glorious way to end a glorious rivalry between two men who had not only great respect, but also great love for each other. I was not aware of the last part until the final Fed event, when Nadal wept like a baby, and in doing so raised my respect for him even more than it already was, although I was a Fed fanatic since the day Sampras retired.
8:19 I've tried this shot so many times playing, so much harder than it looks. Fed is halfway up the court (no-mans land), taking the ball on the rise off Nadal heavy topspin - gets his feet just right the enable enough force downwards for a putaway - daring - terrific!
The most exciting rivalry of all time. The playing style so contradictory to each other makes the match immensely entertaining. Its sad we won't see this again.
These guys. I've been fortunate enough to see many great players over the last 45yrs but nothing compares to the rivalry of these great players and great friends. Gentlemen; it's been a pleasure...
Have been watching Federer play since 2003… His style of tennis just lit up the sport. Never have I seen a player with so much talent and class… Miss watching him play very much..
Nadal always got in Federer's heads with his stamina and consistency. Legends on court. Federer bridged generations from beating Sampras and Aggasi to playing Nadal and Novak
@@ChristiaanRoest79 Define better. Their H2H is heavily one-sided (yes, it's like 6-1 for Fed since 2017 AO final). Has Fed won more majors on grass and hard? Yes, he has. Does not matter much who's better now. In their stratosphere, it's the GOAT that counts. Neither of the two - Fed, Rafa - is or will be that.
@@jooohan Much better. More grand slams titles other than Roland Garros. He also won the last two grand slam matches at Australia and Wimbledon. Other than clay he is definitely better and a more complete player. H2h says nothing.
Not their best matchups but damn these grandpas still producing some other wordly shots. 2019 was the last year all three of them being healthy and competitive at the same time. This gives me so much feels 😢
The encounters by these 2 over two decades is forever etched in my mind. Had to come back to this match after just watching Raffa eliminated at Madrid 2024. So many Summers I remember because of these two, time takes it all. 2 of the greatest legends of this sport.. tennis misses these 2.
One of my favorite Roger matches, this one. I truly thought he was going to beat Novak after this. He looked that dialed in. And he had it on his racket with Novak. Him running around that forehand at 8-7 is my worst sporting memory ever. Simple backhand? Wimbledon Champion. Wins over Rafa and Novak, 2 days apart, at 38 years old. Still...guy gave me so many great memories, I can't ever fault him. Favorite athlete ever, any sport.
It was a rivalry on court but off court it was such a joy to watch their friendship blossom into something wonderful. They formed a close bond because they have similar personalities compared to Djokovic. Both Nadal and Roger don’t have massive egos and are down to earth, easy to get along with and kind people
Senhores!
