Cool video. Only thing lacking is no commentary. Like What is that powder you sprinkled in the lead in the beginning? Would be nice to know. Left me wondering since it wasn’t described in the video.
I’m thinking about getting into reloading, primarily for my .41 magnums. How many reloads would you need to make before you start saving money? Assuming one has zero equipment and factory ammo is around $1.25 a round. Thanks :)
There are so many factors with equipment and component availability that I’m really not sure. But I will tell you something that was told to me and turned out to be true: If you reload you won’t pay half as much for ammo, you’ll just shoot twice as much 😀
Hopefully you started reloading by now. For me, even though eventually you do see the return on your investment, it's more about being able to have the ammo that you want, hot as you want, weak as you want, heavy bullets, light bullets. Ball, swc, hollow points, and many different calibers. I also enjoy watching my ammo supply grow. It's like money in the bank, the more you have, the more you want. I buy components whenever I can. I mostly buy coated bullets because they are cheap, but eventually i will start casting and coating my own. Also factory seconds are alot less expensive when buying jacketed bullets and they shoot just as good as pretty ones. It's a good feeling to know that whatever happens to the market it will not affect your ability to load ammo.
That is a 215gr cast from a Lyman 41032. The alloy is 2 parts lead to 1 part linotype. They're going just under 1400fps out of that gun and I've had no leading.
