As a Aussie Emu is pronounced Eeem You. We do not have them as pets, in Australia you are not allowed to have them as pets, they have very complicated social structures, I think it would be very hard to replicate that, and your Winters would be awful for them.

I agree with you no wild animals should be kept as pets or whatever and these birds if I'm not mistaken can and will give a very nasty kick and of course the weather I just thought oh no Laura what are you doing

Emus would not thrive in a Canadian environment. Even raising as babies they are very much wild animals and will chase your dogs as well as you.

I agree with the environment part, though in the socialisation - many people have successfully raised ‘friendly’ emu’s that are unbothered, or even enjoy human interaction.

That sales barn disgusting how they cramp all those poor animals in together I cannot believe it I should be shut down for good It looks basically like what a slaughterhouse would look like oh my god

Have you actually ever SEEN a slaughterhouse? The conditions in a slaughterhouse are WORSE than in an auction house.

Be sure to have a proper cattle yard with a head crush, in place before getting a cow of any breed! I miss my Jersey cows as much as my horses💔. I had a wee herd of 13 purebred Jerseys on which I used to foster dairy/beef calves onto, as well as hand-raise others. All my mama's got to keep their own babe of course. We'd keep one dairy/beef steer to grow on for the freezer and sell the rest to other farmers at 3 or 4 months old. I found a niche market for young well bred, halter trained Jersey cows trained to hand & machine milk. I ran a Jersey bull and sold the cows in milk with calf at foot and in calf again. Hard physical work in the spring but the most rewarding work ever! Oh, those were the days❤️ Edited to say - cows & calves need gd quality long grass as they only have bottom teeth and use these & their tongues to wrap around grass and break it off.

I would totally want a pig!! :D Also, I totally get what you mean about being worried about feeling sorta stuck without things going on. When my family first got horses, I started to feel like it was a lot of the same over and over. Getting to know my horse better really changed that, and all of the more boring barn stuff is so super worth it for him!! I can't believe I might miss throwing hay or mucking when I start college :O!!

If your breeding goats make sure to do a lot of research. Breed good genetics and personality.

Hi ALL, where I worked sometimes thay would get beef cow's. And thay would eat all the thing's the horse's wouldn't eat . And thay would get lames for meat ,AND sell them BACK at market. Take care and all the best, YOU all do a remarkable job .😊😊😊😊👍👍👍👍💖💟

You don't have to worry about toughing animals because you carry diseases home on your clothing and footwear. I always shower change and wash my cloths and rinse my footwear off. Cow with a calf on the way and one at her side. Highland cattle are not for me. They have huge horns and stabling is harded. My favorite breed is a Brown Swift cross with whiteface polled Herdford. Meaty and good milk. And if had to make a choice for milk only. It would be Jersey or Guernsey,lots of cream. God Bless
