Thanks! Yes these do feel like having a slow conversation with a kind, wise person so the simplicity really sells it. A lot of poetry tries too hard and ends up meaning little to most readers. I think I will try do more quick recitals and discussions earlier in my poetry reviews just because it gives a good feeling if someone is going to like the book. I tend not to bother reciting other genres of books because it's hard to pick representative lines without giving so much context for the narrative or essay question that it spoils the book a bit? Anyways, glad you liked it, if you have any other poetry preferences let me know as I'm going to start going through a few in the near future.
I decided to buy this book after hearing your recommendation. For a long time, I avoided reading poetry due to silly prejudices that were formed during my time at school. Now I'm trying to push my boundaries and read more poetry, as I started enjoying how poetry in general is able to portray strong depictions in rather succint language. I hope it doesn't dissapoint me!
Good to hear, I think it's an excellent addition to an ultimate book collection. Unlike other books we tend to read I think this will be suitable and enjoyable to other members of your family too!! :)
