+WakkoWarner123 me three!!! going on age four, my most favoritest cartoons in the who-o-ole Wide World (kid- speak)were Felix The Cat, Betty Boop, Mighty Mouse(vintage); and there was a local TV station that aired a show on Saturday mornings which showed s lot of assorted cartoons/animations of every sort imaginable. All of these cartoons & animations were more than special in that they sparked and fired my imagination; and, they were remarkable just in the fact that they were evennn aired at all, since we were smack in the middle of the McCarthy era , the mid 1950's!!!
+Tim O' Flea I was relatively young when I watched these cartoons (we had them on VHS tapes), and now that I'm older, I appreciate just how much work and detail was put into them!
WakkoWarner123 Censorship and commercialism killed creative cartoon art, I say. Seems like from the 1950s on, cartoons were churned out by a cartoon factory -- a lame, formulaic cartoon industry driven by advertising revenues.
I always kind of thought the moral on this one was kind of clever: bravado can be a boon, but don't let it get away from you. King Cole is a braggart, but this is what allows him to face his fear. His constant overdoing it is what pisses the ghosts off, and in Felix helping him, the two both realize how silly claiming to be afraid of nothing is, but understanding why one might claim that in the first place.
3:49 I always thought the three-dimensional looking animation on those stairs was pretty impressive, especially since this was nearly half a century before computer graphics came along!
I loved watching the cartoons from the 30s and 40s,and 50s. We were too poor to afford the Disney movie tapes. We could these types of cartoons at the Family Dollar or Dollar General. My grandma did the best she could when we literally had nothing. I love and miss you so much, I remember everything you've done for us until i get to meet you again.
Zombie Rusty Shackleford i remember having this and a bunch of other Van Beuren cartoons on a DVD, it also had 2 others, one had a bunch of Felix the Cat cartoons (which was the one i watched the most) and another one with Betty Boop cartoons on it.
It took me like 10 years to figure out that the 'gas' made him feel not afraid of anything and so after they removed it all, he became totally afraid. Because even before, and even in the end, he still had fear of his surroundings.
My song...you talk too much, you talk too much, you never shut up, you talk too much LoL. Whenever i sang this my little sister always ask where i got it from and i said, that's Felix the Cat where have you been??!! haha!! I miss my childhood!!!
nshaboo101 my mother started singing that I Asked her where it was from and she said Google Felix the cat King something and I did and this is what I came to I got to say this is better than some SpongeBob or whatever I used to watch
This afternoon we're flying too. Nature and Me. We laugh and play it keeps us gay. Nature and Me. I have begun like me belong, where little Birdies sing this song. Skies of Blue, the whole Day through. Nature and Me. IS THAT RIGHT?^^
This afternoon, we’re right in tune: nature and me We laugh and play; it keeps us gay, nature and me A happy guy like me belongs where little birdies sing their song Skies are blue the whole day through for nature and me
guys, it is a cartoon from the 30's. not only was it basic but it was the best they had. why don't you give it a rest and quit thinking everything is perfect or supposed to be
And I first thought Felix was a girl cause he talked like a girl but I found out that in the other cartoons after this his voice sounds sometimes high pitch and sometimes he talks like a man
@@HanpfDampf I know I’m replying 5 years later, but here’s the catch, in this cartoon he was actually voiced by a man who had a syndrome that caused him to have a childlike voice and appearance which is why he voiced a lot of children through his career. About the supposed female voice actress, it was actually a fake rumor someone put on Wikipedia
I can't believe this is a Winston Sharples score. Saxophones and full arrangements and scoring and musicianship. Once he got hired by Fleischer, every damn score sounded the same with a ragtag orchestra and spartan arrangements re-used continuously. Wasn't until Modern Madcaps in the 1960s he let loose again - like Phil Scheib did at Terrytoons. yuck.
I wish my two favorite female staff ann marie Murray and stefanie could grab me and take me to the dungeon with my assistant manager Vanessa following behind
Words cannot describe my hatred for this bloody perversion of the animation kingdom. It is evident that the studio had way too much time on its hands. On account of the fact that it is so ridiculous I have been annoyed just thinking about it. I feel so stupid for obsessing over it as a kid. God only knows what I saw in it.
Beautifully animated toon and with lightning and ghosts! Van Beuren only made 3 Felix toons before they closed the studio and these were the first time, I think, Felix was done in color, and full technicolor to boot. Even though Felix did not have a real golden age presence in cartoons, he, like Betty Boop, managed to maintain credible star status. It's a shame more of these weren't made.
I remember being really freaked out by the 'Torture Scene' when I was little, I just remembed it again today and searched it up - still makes me feel weird tho
Yes, me too. I used to watch it again and again as a child since it was on a VHS together with the Three Little Piggies (or whatever they are called in english). Anyway, today I found the VHS and watched it. I didn't remember it at first but then I got a very freaky feeling as if something was wrong. I think this may have traumatized me as a child actually.
AAAAGH I love Felixs' voice actor, the animations amazing the storys actually pretty original, FELIXS' VOICE ACTOR DOESN'T SOUND LIKE HES A ROBOT //thanks 50s felix// and augh its just amazing omg ;u;
Why is no-one talking about Felix GUNNING DOWN GHOSTS LIKE A FUCKING SHOOTING GALLERY, USING *BOLTS OF LIGHTNING* FOCUSED THROUGH THE ARMS OF A SUIT OF ARMOR?!
