In my experience a lot of asexual girls also lean into hyper-feminine gender expression, but in a different way than what is typically expected by the male gaze.
Ik obviously this is general comment lol but as an asexual I actually dress more masculine. Other aces I know online also dress kinda similar? Idk I feel like most of us have more of a casual fem or masc style since we don’t feel the need to appeal to anyone even if we still wanna look good? If that makes sense lol
@@tired247 Personally, I’m also an asexual masculine individual (I used to identify as an asexual lesbian, but I’m actually a trans guy). But I enjoy fashion a lot, not to attract other people but for personal enjoyment. The asexual femmes I’ve met operated in a similar way to me.
@@meadowrohrer9005 I think a lot of AFAB people hate hyper-femininity because they hate the sexist stereotypes associated with it made. They don’t want to be seen as a dumb bimbo who only cares about looks and male attention, so they avoid hyper-feminine presentation. But eventually, most come to realize that hyper-femininity isn’t something vapid and dumb, and it’s just an aesthetic (a variety pf aesthetics, really). And the hyper-femininity of queer women tends to not fall under the male gaze, because they’ve deconstructed it.
as an asexual lesbian who dresses hyper-feminine, I can confirm! I dress for me and the random women who stop to compliment me on my outfits or my hairstyles, never for men. 😊
I totally agree!! I went to the mall the other day and every single girl was dressed like tomboy, with the baggy jeans and the converse. They look so hot but THEN I SEE THEIR BOYFRIENDS AND IM LIKE. 😭😭😭 but then I see the hyper femmes and omg. They either give off homophobic vibes or HELLA GAY and i love it so much but it's so confusing.
I wonder if it’s the same thing as what this one gay guy on TikTok was saying about how, in his words, “straight men want to date straight women, straight women want to date gay men, and gay men want to date straight men.” He then goes on about how straight men have started dressing like gay men and gay men have started dressing like straight male construction workers, lol! As a bi guy who dresses and passes as a straight guy to most of the people I meet (I wear below the knee shorts during the spring, winter, and early fall), I’ve noticed a LOT of straight men wearing short shorts and it made me think for a moment. Also, gay men know how to pull of short shorts. They just do them way, WAY better, ya know?
Yaaaasss. I do it all, depending on my mood, but I lean fem and I am bi AF. I dress mostly for me, but I hope the girlies will notice my femininity and know I'm trying to impress them as much as the boys and enbies. Most guys don't care about or notice cute makeup. I want the queer ladies to. ❤❤❤
