Shoutout to Ed over at @onmyturntable7036 for getting this started! Check out his original thread video here: • VC Thread: Female Arti... Who are some of your favorite women in music? #vinylcommunity #vinylrecords #womeninmusic
Thanks for contributing to my thread Alex: Fantastic! Yes, white clam is the signature pizza of New Haven, CT's own Pepe's Pizza. Check out 'Pizza: A Love Story' which is streaming on a lot of services and public tv. It's a history of New Haven Pizza, and my friend Dean scored the music for the film. I loved what you showed - all new to me, and that Coal Mine/Karma Chief roster I need to check out. Appreciate you taking the time to make the video and mention my channel. Have subbed and been watching your videos for some time now - inspiration for me to jump into the VC with a lot of others! Have added your video to my channel playlist. Thanks again! Ed😎🎶🎤🎸
yesss I believe I was at Pepe's several years ago for the white clam! That's awesome about that documentary. Yes, I'm a bit of a Colemine/Karm Chief Shill but such is life! Great job on the thread and here's to many more - cheers Ed!
When I think of female artists, and there are so many great ones, I, first and foremost, think of Eva Cassidy. She was an interpreter of other people's music but such great arrangements and the voice of an angel. Her Live at Blues Alley is a must have.
For Fanny CD fans, there's an upcoming Reprise Years 4 CD box set, with all four Reprise albums with bonus tracks. I've got that pre-ordered for a pretty good price, for a 4 CD set.
The Last Dinner Party are a relatively new all female band from the UK, who currently have my favorite new album of the year, their debut "Prelude To Ecstasy". They have a theatrical rock sound, kind of like Queen, David Bowie and Sparks, with "progressive rock" type guitar work. An interesting new band.
I actually love the Last Dinner Party. They were here several months ago and I wanted to go but the show sold out. They did a signing at one of my local record shops too. They're very cool and super artsy. Plus, "Prelude to Ecstasy" is the best prog album title ever from a non prog band!
“Smoke a J” 😂 Alex are you trying to corrupt today’s youth? Awesome choices here! Your Coal Mine check is in the mail too. That’s some very cool looking vinyl
Is that what the kids say? I actually don't partake in the cannabis, BUT I do enjoy a back patio cigar every now and again.. and Khruangbin is perfect for that!
