I have my first female GSD now. Got her when she was 3 months. She just turned a year and is the most precious girl. She won't let my male hound dog dominate her at all.

You are very right. My pack of thirteen dogs was also lead by a GSD female. She wasn't aggressive but she was a no nonsense dog who knew how to keep everyone in right place. My much bigger male dog, who came after her, was also subservient to her. True that I was the alfa so when I was out with them they behaved and followed me like good kids but otherwise she was the boss. Thanks for the Video.

It’s the same with my female and male gsd. He’s like 125 to her 80. I think it’s more that the male gsd just won’t fight/attack a female. He have pushed her down with one leg then she squeals and he lets her win all the fights

I love the way you explain this. I have always had alpha female shepherds, but never an aggressive one. I have been lucky as the ones I have had always used their smarts to rule over the other dogs. And I will say this comes form getting a dog from a good breeder such as yourself!

I just got a 10 week old Amstaff and she came in and she immediately showed my 3yr old male, who was boss. Thankfully he gave her no issues with it. Lol. Great info!

I'm living this right now. We're keeping my sons female Shepherd and my female Shepherd do not get along. Had a few dog fights. Just keep them separated. That's what I do. My son is taking his dog when he moves out.

I saw first hand what it’s like dealing with female dominance. Spent some time when I was in high school doing work education with the RAAF dogs out at the nearby Airforce Base. One of the females, DIT (dog in training) Jeda would try to attack an older female MWD (Military Working Dog) Shah every single time their handler put the dogs in the van cages. If they could have gotten to each other, Shah would have killed Jeda. Easily. Jeda was 15 months old, Shah was about 5 years old. You could tell how the dogs were when altogether in the kennels. MWD Shah was the dominant female, MWD Bear was the dominant male. Yes, these were GSDs. Sable East German GSDs.

I had a GSD working line cross with timber wolf. She was even unhappy with human females. And with the wolf blood she even challenged me when she reached maturity. And she was very powerful and had the potential for violence. She was a force of nature one coyote one bite. We were attacked by a loose Chow dog walking in town. I had control of Kali until the Chow grabbed my thigh and I went down. She took tbat to be a release and took the Chow in one bite.

I got my female working line GSD when she was 2 years old. She grew up with a full grown male rottie and he was very patient with her and as she grew she was rougher and rougher with him. She'd never been socialised with other dogs and so the first time I took her to the park she ran at every other dog who was close to her size and 'chested' them. Sort of a "Hey! I'm the boss around here!" She was 90 lbs of muscle and could run like the wind and a very good judge of who she could get away with at doing that. One day there was a huge male Rhodesian Ridgeback on a lead being walked around the park and it ignored every other dog. My GSD saw it, and basically ignored it as well. No contest.

THANK YOU GSM!! Now i understand my Ryka's dominance so much better. I feel so bad. I have called my girl a lil bully to her face for being mean to my older Aussie. I thought she was just being a stinker. She is such a good girl . This is the only issue i have with her. We are wanting to add another female puppy. Do you think a new female pup will be okay or should i go with a male? I've just love bond my female has with every person. Your videos are awesome and have helped me understand my girl in so many ways. It helps with training understanding how she thinks. She is almost 3 now i used your techniques with her on every thing and it was so much easier than i thought. I would have been lost with out you. THANKS AGAIN!

Pretty much every experienced trainer I know, including those that use evidence based learning, says that female x female fights are way worse than male x male fights; that on average, boys fight with bluster and when they establish rank, that's it. But females fight to injure or worse. Don't mess with girls. We aren't out to thump chests and show off. We're all business.

Our gs female is 7 months old now. She was well accepted by our six year old lab, who loves to play with her.....but recently she's began to play rough with our lab. Biting on the back and neck. Our lab never yelps or anything, but you can see it's getting a little much for her

Hi German Shepherd Man, I thought this video had some good things in it regarding the femalei's and their dominance. I'm sorry you got lied to, and that you weren't told about the new dog's aggression towards other female dogs. I thought it was both maddening and interesting (not) that the guy didn't tell you about the new dog's aggression towards other female dogs until AFTER you paid him. I'm afraid I would have been VERY put out if I were in your shoes. I think you handled it very well considering the circumstances.

I think this is why we see so much dog on dog reactivity today not necessarily dog aggression but dogs being reactive because they feel they need to be pack leader... of course today we are taught that the alpha dog theory is a myth and you don't need to be your dogs pack leader. If you want to get a handle on reactivity start by letting your dog know you always have your environment under control and they don't need to be lead dog and the pack protector.

I appreciate your teachings, your ABT method has worked well for my puppy Sedona. She is now 17 weeks old. We've had her since she was 7 weeks. I have 3 other dogs, aged 5, 4, 2 years old. No matter which dog, male or female, she aggressively (hair raised, and hollering) lunges out from under my chair when they approach. Do you have any methods of dealing with this? I'm afraid one of the others will eventually "teach her a lesson". Thank you! Amanda

She may have been picked on from her litter mates. Reward her for CALM and keep yourself calm when dealing with the behavior. She is like a 4 year old child at her age...keep that in mind. THANK YOU for purchasing my Puppy Training System!!! GSM

Great info to know. I have a question also. I rescued a 8 month old female Panda Shepherd. She is all about being beautiful. Well, wanted to socialize her with my friends 4yr old male. Well, it didnt work out the way we planned....They walked up to each other and the sniffing out process and then out of nowhere the male attacked her, not once but twice. She wasnt hurt or anything we separated them before anything happened. The male is very socialized but he also lets everybody know he is the boss. My place is his 2nd home and he is comfortable here....So any help u can give me would be greatly appreciated.....Thank you GSMan.....have a great weekend

He needs a "Come to Jesus" meeting by his owner in my opinion. If one of my dogs did that it would be a hard stink eye and body posturing from me...then a loving reward for calmness. GSM

Q?. I have a house of 3 girls. My youngest was attacked by an adopted 2yo DDR. No longer with us we want another so have a pup DDR on order. Should we get a male to avoid future likelihood of aggression? both girls are due to transition & the youngest can break glass & burst eardrums when she's gaming. I have a 6 yr old 88lb male Sable with yellow eyes. No matter where he goes he's the dominant dog. Younger foolish males at the dog park always are trying to move up, he never hurts them but makes them submit to him ! He just wants to play fetch & no body can outrun him still !

My 7 month old black German shepherd pup is very good around my house never damaged anything and is house trained but while out walking shes very aggressive to people,dogs and passing cars shes literally up on her back legs and barking a growling non stop! Is this common and will it go away after time? Its frustrating

When we got 2 female sisters at 8 months old, one was clearly the dominant and she tried to dominate my male with her sister and at first he was scared but he got enough of it and showed them their place 😂

We have this issue with are adult female since we got a pup female, the adult female German Shepard tried to kill our pup female but not are male pup, she grown now 11 months, and the adult German Shepard again tried killing our female 11 month old! I’m talking it heaved it’s neck at one point want to shake her! I managed to put my hand between its jaw and my hand in its mouth into a fist and I pulled her out by pressing my arm deep in her throat! I litreally had to grab her onto the ground! Regardless what we do now we can’t keep them together at all! She will kill my pup! If I leave her out with her! So I lock one in and let the other out! I would be careful even with your other pups that same type of dominance is what we noticed but when we walked away, she want full attack to kill! Not to show dominant.

You may have to be more assertive. One of the Pillars of Success in my Puppy Training System is Project Leadership. Work on that. My gsd Gertie trys to dominate my friends male border terrier but to be honest he won't have any of it and gives as good as he gets they can be funny together as well.

I have a 10 yr old female German shepherd. I would like get a puppy. I would like to get another female. Do u think that would be ok.

I would need more info to advise, but usually I would say to get the opposite gender of what you have...takes risk out. GSM

Males are more territorial and females are more people oriented from that perspective in my opinion. GSM

I have problems with two males the brother of my sweet girl and my sweet girls mate...I have to keep my female bro in a kennel cause her mate keeps attacking him... right now I have her inside cause she watch both her bro and get into it..and she pushed herself inside...can you give me a ideal why...or is it because she tired of the conflict between her bro and mate...got any suggestions

Most of the time. I had one female that couldn't take the top spot but WOULD NOT QUIT!!! I spayed her and gave her away to a wonderful home. GSM

I have a 1.5 year female who is extremely friendly with other dogs, honestly she needs checked, but she's big so she isn't intimidated. I'm thinking about getting a 10 week black female and I was so excited until I read about all this female aggression...should I really be worried? I love my current dog and she has lived with us since she was a pup and is an angel.

We have a bitch round here that hates other bitches. causes huge problems. When I had my all bitch pack I was boss and never had any issues. Important to have a solid foundation dog to begin with. Sorry you got lied to Charles. Not a nice thing to do. I have so many photos of my 2nd in command watching over the younger bitches. Lol, naughty little pup , made me laugh. everybody knows or at least most people know that having two dogs should be a male and female not two females or two males...they will fight...and as an expert in GDS, you should have known about female aggressive when you went to buy that female...elementary question to ask the seller...my opinion...
