I cried at the end of this… cried because all these years docs haven’t told me any of this! All these years taking the pill, not knowing anything about my body! I recently went to a doc to say I wanted to get off the pill and she then tried to force the mirena. When I told her I didn’t want something foreign sitting inside of me she laughed and made me feel like an idiot! Now I’m more informed I’ll find another doc and ask for help. Thank you so much Mike and Dr Elly for this!!!! Thanks for educating us!!!

The Mirena wreaked havoc in my body, and it took a lot of effort to detox/ rebalance my system. Also, my doctor refused to take it out, so I had to find a doctor that would. A healthy human being isn’t business for the medical establishment.

Although men don't have the type of hormonal fluctuations that women have, it would be good for us women to know what impacts male hormones, for fertility at least. Maybe how to lower prostate cancer risk could also be included.

As a trans woman who's been on HRT for a couple of decades, I found this really fascinating. Once I learned more about hormones, and did my own research I only used bioidentical estradiol and progesterone. I also think it's really horrible that most women on HRT whether they're trans or cis are not giving a cycle for their hormones. This is something I had to learn how to develop myself. I have some videos about it if anyone is interested.

I'm not really "young" anymore and we have 4 beautiful children and It's going to look like I'm trying to have babies but I think it's just such an amazing marker for women's health that it can't be ignored and to build muscle and have strong bones as I age. I think it's the best way to go!

Thanks for doing a segment like this. I know your analytics might say that you have a mostly male audience but lots of women watch your content and this was so educational. I wanted to ask if there are times during our cycle when fasting is not ideal?
@Car-jy8pw
@Car-jy8pw Год назад
Depends on your body, but in general, the week before your period. That’s when you definitely don’t want to fast and don’t want to over exercise. Moderate exercise you’re used to is ok, but if you go too far during that time you’ll gain weight instead… and it’ll wreak havoc on your body. I used to get what felt like a flu in the last couple days until I found out about this. Edit: I forgot to mention that’s the time when it’s also better to eat a little more root vegetables. 🥕 You crave carbs and mineral rich foods during this time for a reason.

0:00: 🩺 The menstrual cycle consists of the menstrual phase, follicular phase, ovulation, and luteal phase, with ovulation being the most fertile period. 7:24: 🔑 Understanding ovulation and tracking menstrual cycles is important for women's health. 19:11: 🩺 Low progesterone can cause bloating and GI issues, while estrogen dominance can lead to imbalanced estrogen and gut microbiome. 22:04: 🔬 The speaker discusses her experience with birth control pills and the potential long-term effects on hormone balance and overall health. 29:13: 🔬 Testing hormone levels in women is important for understanding their reproductive health and overall well-being. 35:58: 🩺 The menstrual cycle can vary in length, but a cycle shorter than 24 days or longer than 35 days may indicate a problem. Tracking basal body temperature and cervical mucus can provide valuable information about ovulation and cycle health. 43:47: ✨ Estrogen plays a crucial role in building muscle and maintaining muscle mass in women, and it is important to recognize the connection between estrogen and body composition. 50:21: 🌱 The speaker does not specialize in fertility but focuses on general hormonal health and increasing vitality in women. AMH should be used as an indicator of IVF success rather than overall fertility. The speaker prioritizes protein and carbohydrates in her diet, and her digestion improved after incorporating animal products. Adaptogens can be useful but are not a magic fix compared to lifestyle and nutrition. 57:37: 🌱 Taking responsibility for our own health is crucial, and while supplements can help, they don't address the underlying lifestyle factors. Hi Mike, thanks for all the great content. I'd love to see a short video regarding progesterone, estradiol and other typically considered "female" hormones and how their varying levels in men can also affect men's health. It's fairly well understood how "male" hormones affect women, but men have these "female" hormones naturally too and it's not as widely understood or communicated as far as I'm aware. Just an idea, thanks again. 👍

For me Literally a week before my menses I have a lot of energy, from what I was told and read about does not work for me. My luteal phase is when I am super energetic, but I naturally have a lto. Of energy and I don”t do caffeine, i do drink a little ceremonial matcha tea around 3pm and after workouts just for health benefits but I just don” like it not care for fake energy IMo is what coffee and teas are, but healthy benefits, so I’ll try to get it in depending on how my body feels. Many benefits w pu’erh, clean coffee and yerba mate but I just don’t need caffein even though my dna gene results show i metabolize caffeine last, i’m naturally wired with a lot of energy even at 46. It’s lessened since i was younger but I’m still have more energy than my 20 year old daughters. I have to force myself to Medictate and activate mindfully my parasympathetic Mode with yoga and the like. 🤦🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️

Naw, the cycle tracking app is a very useful tool. Also: the app never says you are definitely going to ovulate on a certain day or that your cycle will definitely be x amount of days. You have to pay attention to your body in any case and these apps help.

Sorry, not a fan of so-called "doctors" or other woman's health "experts" who frame the menstrual cycle in terms of oestrogen fluctuations. Testosterone is the parent hormone of most oestrogen in the body - in both men and women. It is on orders of magnitude higher in concentration than oestrogen at any given time - in both men and women - when you convert them to the same units, and it also fluctuates depending on the phase of the menstrual cycle. Hence why you ultimately also get higher/lower oestrogen, given it corresponds to the changes in testosterone. Birth control use ultimately can result in hypogonadal or menopausal symptoms besides the intended effect of cessation of the menses because it slam dunks testosterone right into the ground with either progestogenic compounds or super-strong synthetic oestrogens. I anyways take exception to so many people not correctly emphasising the importance and predominance of testosterone to women in that I pretty much destroyed my health - worsened my autoimmune conditions exponentially, made most of my hair fall out, premature, extreme wrinkling, vision loss, mental instability and memory loss, and so forth - by getting on oestrogen replacement because of buying into dumb doctors and researchers who frame oestrogen as a good, "female" hormone responsible for all the "positives" of femininity instead of the trash and toxic metabolite that it is (outside of a tiny amount needed for certain growth processes). I was only able to fix these issues by getting on testosterone replacement.

That's so interesting, the emphasis you make on testosterone as a parent hormone, and how much it controls the balance of women's hormones. Thanks for sharing this

I know that bloated and fatugued feeling. I also can't train harder during that time. And if I do, my period just stops.. Recently the only thing that did work was when I tried doing some exercise "snacks," but it has to be LESS than 10 minute walks outside. I try to do that during day 27, day 28, day 1- day 3 of my cycle. Getting those steps in during my period is really hard but I do notice that when I do, especially during day time, I feel fatigue lift. But if I do sprints or any training during those days, my stress goes through the roof and I lose my period :(
