RJ I really like your intro track, so period correct and fun. I could listen to albums of that stuff from you. Watched Matthew Scott’s demo too. Both of you make them sound so good and showcase the versatility of strats.
What intrigues me is not just the sparkling chime but also the lack of any noticeable single coil hum in audio I'm hearing of these 54 replica pickups. I love my Am Standard Strat with Fat 50's, but they hum so loud I only play in the 2 & 4 positions. These almost seem noiseless, and yet have the best tone (especially in the middle position).
RJ, what i love about all of your videos is that you cover all of the bases. As a life long Stratocaster player, this is a perfect representation of why this guitar is so iconic. Well done, my friend.
It should be pointed out, that the first part of your video sounds perfect, and unlike any other recent models, its tone present a real american vintage strat ever made by fender !!!
Maple FB, yes. It also makes a difference in high-end sparkle if it has a thick hard finish over the frets, like they did originally, and on some current models. I have a 3rd party roasted Maple neck with catalysed poly sprayed on b4 the frets were applied. It's a tough enoigh finish so it won't crack under the frets, and also has good sparkle. Unfinished or oiled Maple absorbs more highs.
Way too much $$ buy a mim and upgrade the pups.this is for collectors not players.Get a Classic Vibe 50s mine was perfect never goes out of tune and sounds great.I’ll take a hit selling though
I hate this Color...since the first time is see a 54 Strat... but this sound... nothing compares with that... i need a good one and if she keeps i will paint the Body in something more beautiful... but the whole guitar exept the color is just amazing
There was one thing about playing a strat I didn't like, I was always hitting the selector switch down when playing, mainly play Gibson's or telecasters
Happy Birthday Strat! You know you're getting old when electric guitars celebrate their 70th anniversaries ... I can remember, not when they were new, but when they were still new-fangled. (And welcome back RJ's hair.)
I love Fender but I don't understand the hype about these anniversary series. Nothing special about the wood and the finish apart from nitrocellulose. You can easily get '50's style pickups from Seymour Duncan or Bare Knuckle. Fender comes up with an anniversary series every 3 years or so now, it's ridiculous.
Guess what Fender...it is still a strat...and a strat is a strat.. ,,,an assembly line guitar with a bolt on neck. Oh, but wait... this one has the 'bonus features' of a 1 ply pickguard, 3 way switch and rounded pickup covers.
Just what we need one more strat that looks, sounds & plays the same as the rest. Its like Ford reproducing the Model A over & over because that's the way we made the first one
👎nah... I humbly disagree , this don't sound like the others, esp w/ those 54 almost jaguar bright pickups & ash body... best review of this new 54 strat rj..
They really nailed the vibe of the original. My luthier friend and I were just talking about the back of vintage strat headstocks and it does offer a different timbre than more modern designs. Very cool, @Fender ! Nice playing, as always my friend. 🤘😎
Wow... take slightly better wood, run it through the exact same CNC machine that made your $400 Squire, upgrade the hardware & pickups, spray nitro instead of poly, and add about an hour of extra human, hands-on finishing. If Fender charged $1k i'd say ok. $2600?!?!? F off Fender. This is just an obnoxious cash grab. Sorry, but the entire POINT of Leo Fender's designs was to make an assembly line manufacturable instrument that would keep costs down. Jack Pearson plays a Squire, enough said. Oh, and this is no Knock on RJ, he's probably my favorite player on youtube.
@@flybynight1929 Stratocasters were priced at $249.50 in 1954. $250.00 1954 dollars are equivalent to over $2,800.00 in 2024. Instruments were always expensive and were often bought on payment plans.
Gee, another Strat. Still have to play a hundred of them to get one kind of okay, but still with that awful bridge/trem design that tears your skin up, a front plug jack that gets in the way, and ugly paint job that hasn't changed in 70 years. At least it doesn't still have a horribly designed neck joint that is going to snap at some point, like a LP.
Sounds like a “you” problem. 😂. Jesus, what a nitpicky, complainer. Poor thing…. Hown do you have any HANDS left after all the damage that mean old Stratocaster did to them?
