Bullshit. People do bad things, because they are bad people. These "situations" aren't created by themselves, out of the ether. People create the environments they inhabit. You don't come from a "privileged" family. You come from a family full of people who made decisions in their life that benefited them. There is nothing wrong with "privilege". You need to start THINKING, instead of repeating stupidity that's in vogue in current year. "Privilege" has a definition, and it's not a bad thing. People are poor, because they choose to be poor. People are in "bad situations", because they make piss poor decisions. No one "does it to them". They do it to themselves. You're naive, and you allow other naive people blow bullshit up your ass. This man's "story" is just that, a story. We all made fun of these types in prison. They are stupid, and have nothing going for them, so they make up stupid shit, so people with think they're interesting, or "tough". They're just idiots full of shit. They take stories other idiots tell them, and make them their own. Nothing this dude said was true. Bottom line, people are successful, because they make good decisions. People are not successful, because they make bad decisions. I've wallowed in the gutter with this trash, when I was young, making bad decisions. When I decided I wasn't trash, I stopped making bad decisions, and now I'm "privileged". I wouldn't trade my "privilege" for anything. Stop feeling guilty, because others are worthless. It's fucking stupid.

A man crying in front of strangers or on TV is not strong. You smash that shit way, way deep down inside. Put your work boots on and pull your shit together. Cry in the bathroom where the wife and kids can't see you. A man's job is to assure your family that everything is ok and to look strong and confident even if life is turning to shit around you. If the person who is supposed to be the rock or foundation of the family is sobbing like a teenage girl what kind of message do you think that sends your woman or your children.

Royal has lived a life that is unforgettable. It’s a shame addiction is whole-hearted and a stubborn dependency. We all suffer from addictions and they seem impossible to break because all addictive substances actually intercepts our will-synopsis in our brain and the toxins also deteriorate our grey matter and prefrontal cortex for reasoning as well as tap into our natural resources for a boost of dopamine, etc. as the bodies main purpose is engineered to heal itself. I have been a phlebotomist for over 30 years with a lot of experience with iv drug users. He is right handed and does most of his needles in his left arm. His left hand is swollen because of how all the needle sticks have restricted proper blood flow in that arm. I hope he doesn't want to die but even if he doesn't overdose blood flow restrictions are the beginning of infection then death. Please try another path my brother. In the beginning of my recovery there would have been no way that I would be around users, but I'm well past the hard parts. Royal says quite a few times that he would like to get clean. In my experience most addicts are constantly holding on to loads of trauma and sadness they want to be able to let go of. When you get someone like this who genuinely wants to hear everything you have to say, it just comes out like a flood. Addicts who live on the street are very closed off and defensive, because they are constantly in fear of what can happen if they let their guard down. But inside of themselves there is so much pain they want to let out.

I cannot believe how many people buy his stories, he is a fentanyl addict and he is rocked. I can guarantee if he was interviewed the next day his story would be completely different.

Seriously. The Jack Kevorkian bit is odd. Lots of naive enablers in the comments.

damn dude. that was a story and a half. i love how he said at the end he was sick and could have told the story better... amazing man. what broke my heart is through everything clearly not seeing his son breaks his heart the most. I am in recovery and haven't seen my two daughters in a few months to get better. the heart break from even just that is immense for me.. awesome man

My heart goes out to you! You actually have heart unlike some people in these interviews. Fentanyl is a trap I thought I knew addiction then relapsed and got addicted. It’s a miracle I’m alive and clean a year now. It’s possible!
