The 400i, having been maligned for its appearance for a long time, really is ageing gracefully and looks so understated and elegant now. Plus a manual gearbox and a V12 will never get and will probably become increasingly desirable as we shuffle our way miserably into the electric era.
i have one in m,int condition ,it´s a V12 but i only have it for the reason that no one wanted them ,and i´ve seen perfect cars from this model beuing destroyd because they weren´t real ferrari´s but what a car it´s a pleasure to drive it as the second Dino wasn´t even considered a Ferrari ,i also own one i think i paid for it in perfect condition what today is 2.000€ ,the 400i i paid maybe 1.500€ normally the reason was it´s high comsuption and not being liked by anyone, but love it love it so i can make some money with mine as i can´t also spend so much money in gasoline, as the first Dino the TV some around 20 years ago in tv shows told that wasn´t even a ferrari and with shame they didn´t gave the name ferrari to it, but in reality was the reverse ,it was a homage to his lost son for a sickness who took him very young and was the car that showed the future of Ferrari as today aren´t there midle engine ferrari´s or am i confused, normally ferrari´s were all front engine with long engines ,i do like the Daytona but just compare them , some don´t like the Mondial but i remenber when i first drove it was the best handling car for narrow mountain roads with manual gears this of sport cars with automatic is an hazzard and many died most of them young menthat weren´t supoposed to drive such powerfull cars ,first because they didn´t knew how to really drive a car
I never really understood why this car is so generally unloved, because through my eyes it's such a desirable car. Elegance is underrated when there's a Ferrari badge on it. Same goes for its predecessors 250 GTE and 330 GT 2+2, of which many were converted to look like a SWB or other sportier models.
@@Schlipperschlopper not sure what you mean by cheaply made, but I'm sure you can give me examples. As for the V8 swap: that will not make it better at what it is and it will devalue it considerably.
@@Schlipperschlopper the Mercedes has a great build quality reputation, but that doesn't answer the question. When you say they're cheaply made, what exactly are you referring to?
@@Pietervdv There are many Ferrari made with low quality-control. The company has experienced hard times through periods, and Italian cars are known for doing great engines while the finishing work isn't always great. This is true of Lamborghini as well. The special models had more attention paid to their builds form what I understand.
I have always these cars and their earlier versions. They are high maintenance a fine choice for the deep pockets of an older gent with nothing to prove
