Technologically inferior yeah, but they are better pure race cars, smaller, move less "dirty" air around, more open space on the track, carry less kinetic energy. Unless the FIA planned to americanize F1 all along, allowing the cars to get this much bigger goes against the spirit of the sport. They should have made size and weight reduction goals as soon as the hybrid systems were implemented almost a decade ago!
But the old records are made with the 3 rails in the slicks. They were made to reduce the cornerspeed. Look how fast the 2004 Benetton without rails in the slicks are like in Spielberg 2022. Ralf Schuhmacher drove in 10 rounds fooling around a top3 time in the training.

Man those old F1 cars are so fantastic. Just like the old CART Champ/IndyCars were the best in the early 2000s compared to today's IndyCars.. Engine sound of those F1 cars was soooo cool!!

That Renault Platform with Mass Damper was just too OP in 2005 and 2006. it was fun watching Michael drive the wheels of what basically a downgrade from the 2004 just to keep up and snatch some races. I think those are the races where Schumi shines most and where his bad habits also shows. He can win races and championship with a car that has a lower potential than the rival's car.

SDD Ferrari is a bit slow and doesn't do F1 - 75 justice, try the RSS FH2022, VRC Formula Alpha 2022 or MSF F75 Hybrid, all much better Representations of what the 2022 Ferrari can do, especially the MSF car as it's based on the Ferrari F1-75. Also keep an eye out for the coming release of Synapse's F1-75, should be very good!
With slicks, the mid 2000s V10s beat the 2022 cars easily. It helps that they have all of their power available to them, instead of worrying about the battery deployment, and are considerably lighter

Not quite that simple. Tracks have been repaved in this time as well. The current tyre is 25% wider than the 2004 tyres. That's a LOT of extra tyre to use. Current cars have DRS, which allows them to run quite a bit more downforce. Ralf Schumacher recently drove his 2003 car at the Red Bull Ring and in the 5 laps he did he was only 3 seconds slower than Max's qualifying time. Despite that this was a 2003 car (some 1.5 seconds slower on conventional tracks than the 2004 cars), the engine was detuned by roughly 100hp as it wasn't run in ages, had a skeleton crew operating it (only a demo run) and on top of all that, an out of shape Ralf driving the car he hadn't even seen for 10 years.
While that is true, the older cars had a lot more advanced driver aids that current cars don't. The tracks also changed a lot because they didn't want big kerbs in corners to help motorcycle riders. Not to mention the asphalt is a heck of a lot better as well. Kimi's V10 Mclareb from 2005 would kill any car if it ran on slicks. That car was an absolute monster but totally unreliable.
the crowd is very nostalgic. gets weepy because of the sound of the V10 engine and think the 2004-2005 cars would beat the current ones in a quick lap based on the game where they edit everything. the cars of before don't curve like the ones of today, which is where they have a lot of advantage. hahahaha
Do this for the entire race distance and you'll see V10 cars lapping the hybrid V6 multiple times, because V10s don't need to worry about fuel saving and be able to run qualifying pace in the race, while the V6s have to save fuel.
These 2004 and 2005 cars were the pinnacle of performance with the better tires. I knew they would smoke the 2002 car, but even more than I anticipated. I think the 2004 Ferrari would have eventually passed the 2005 Renault but it would have been a close race, probably only a few seconds difference over an entire race. The 2022 car would get lapped at least once over an entire race distance and that is taking into account having to refuel the older cars. The 2022 would still have to pit for tires an equal amount of times, the pit stops would be faster by a few seconds because of no need to refuel. Guessing 3 stops, it would only gain maybe 20-25 seconds during the pit stops. Not nearly enough to overcome the massive speed difference.
This is not representative of actual speed of 2022 cars, specially in the launch, they will launch much faster due to Electric motors and much thicker and grippier tyres

This is not realistic. Not even close. Imola's all time lap record has L. Hamilton with 1:15:484 with a 2020 car. 2022 cars are only max. 2 seconds slower, so it would be about 1:17 - 1:18. That 2004 Ferrari has record 1:20:411 by Schumi. So... yeah, that is absolutely incorrect.

Also, in the video the older cars are put on modern slicks, which are way grippier than the grooved tyres used back then. Although not perfect, it's probably way closer to reality than you would like to believe.
that´s so wrong, in real life the best lap time in 2005 imola gp are 1:21.8 by schumacher ferrari, f1 2004 imola are 1:20.4 by schumacher ferrari again and f1 2022 imola gp are 1:18.4 by verstappen rbr, so yes, f1 2022 cars are 3 seconds faster than 2005 cars and 2 seconds faster than 2004 cars
@@isaelmarte3073 They took out the last chicane from the 2004 layout and they didn't use slick tyres in that era. Those cars were about the same fast as the current ones. Well... actually I am sure the 2004-2005 cars would be faster on slick tyres than the 2022 ones. The 2020-21 cars might be a bit quicker, but only in the fast corners and at the acceleration stage.

If given slick tyre's, yes they would. But they didn't have that back in 04-05. They used to have three big grooves to reduce grip because the cars would have been too fast otherwise

Change of regulation, in 2005 they wanted to stop the Ferrari"s dominance, so they were forced to change the perfection of the Ferrari, some sort of "ballast" and then they change the regulation about the Pit Stop, you couldn't change the tyres, you could only do refueling, so Schumacher that was very fast and don't preserved the tyres, had problem, also 2004 Ferrari was made for exploit the components of the car such as tyres and engine, so it was very bad for them in 2005

A 2022 f1 car is 2 seconds or so faster around imola than the 2005 car this isn't accurate. F1 2022 car has done 1.19 around here, the fastest lap for the 2005 car was a 1.21. if this video was right the 2022 car is 10 seconds slower which is nuts.

it's mostly because the old cars were put on modern slicks. 2004 cars are nearly, if not already as fast as the 2022 cars on certain circuits, and the slick tyres makes them even faster :)

Nada faz diferença nesses "simuladores". Os caras puxam a sardinha pra onde eles querem. Um carro de 2004 perde muito pra um carro atual em uma volta rápida. Mas o pessoal é saudosista só por causa de som de motor, daí nos vídeos eles puxam saco pro mais antigo
