I learn something new, ferrets can have implants just like humans.

Thank you for responsible breeding. We are a rescue and have recently had two kits dumped. We had to euthanise the boy, Maverick. He was so bad. Osteoporosis. Badly healed breaks in both back legs and active breaks in his fronts.

😁 IKR?! YT doesn't think so. They gave me a warning, removed monetisation, and stopped pushing the video out to viewers. True nature is obviously too ghastly a thing to be seen!

Hello I have planned to breed my Ferret, the males is on season well he hasn’t breed since he’s born. Right now am trying to find a mate for him. I have a question when the kits are born and about 5-6 weeks old is it okay for full grown males to play or released in a same area with the kits? Or it’s best to separate them when the kits are mature? Thank you.
@kingsdownferrets8485
@kingsdownferrets8485 5 месяцев назад
Yes neutered males can be around the kits, but it depends on the individual. Some will be fine, some will not like the kits. You just have to see how it goes. You need to slowly introduce and get the male used to the kits. Can't just lump them together overnight on the first day. If the male is not neutered then he will need to be kept alone and not kept with the kits or with the mum.

What country do you live that you can have your ferrets outside?
@kingsdownferrets8485
@kingsdownferrets8485 Год назад
We're in the UK. Southern England to be more specific. In the UK the majority of ferrets are kept outside, which is fine as ferrets derive from Polecats which are native to UK. 🙂

My boy (Gib) is 1yr old and being a Marshalls ferret he is used to dry food. I've been trying to feed raw for some time, and most of the time he'll eat it but, I have to hold him over the food. I feel like I'm doing it wrong by forcing it to him. I of course am gentle with it but, I'm sure there's a better way?? Love how big yours are by the way..
@kingsdownferrets8485
@kingsdownferrets8485 Год назад
Hey, I'm not an expert at food conversion as mine are already brought up eating all types. However the fact that he will eat any at all is a positive step. They are imprint feeders which means they're not being fussy by turning raw away, it's that they can get to the point when they simply don't view it as food at all. If he's eating it then he has the mental link that it is food, and so now its about making it his preferred option. They all have likes and dislikes, so you might investigate different proteins, beef/chicken/lamb/rabbit/pigeon etc, as well as trying different consistencies, like whole chunks, fine chunks, minced or soupie consistency. There are forums out there dedicated to raw feeding which should give you great advice. Last point is that all ours eat a mix of raw and kibble. We ensure the kibble is high quality though. Good luck

@@kingsdownferrets8485 Well.. This made me feel better. I guess I'm going in the right direction because I have tried chunks & now I'm working with watered down minced. I'm going to try soupy feeds with kibble and meat. I like your ideas.. thx you for taking the time to help the best you can. Also.. Do you sell any of your kits? I'm in NYC, so it's illegal to sell any. I had to rescue mine from Pennsylvania.

I have one more question so I keep my male and females ferret on a separate cage but same play room, so after they male and female successfully mate is okay to still let them lose and play in the same play room? Cheers

If the male is still in rut, he will constantly pester the Jill and try to mate even though she is not in season. This will cause fights.

What age do you wait till to breed a jill for the first time?
@kingsdownferrets8485
@kingsdownferrets8485 5 месяцев назад
We breed from 1 year old. And less than 4 years old. Max 2 litters in a lifetime. All ferrets are pets, so spend their life here; we don't sell on the jills we have bred from once we're "done" with them.

You can use the same milk powder that is for orphaned kittens 😸

@@kingsdownferrets8485 I have five ferrets (can’t say anything but…….they are polecats), including three jills….hobs love me very much but those jills hate me and bite me….any suggestions for the milk powder brands and jills please??? Thank you 🙏
@kingsdownferrets8485
@kingsdownferrets8485 Год назад
I'm not sure of the link between the biting you mention and the interest in milk powder, as milk powder is only really for orphaned kits under 6 weeks old. Otherwise they can be fully weaned. The brand we use in the UK is Beaphar Lactol. As with the biting, its not unusual for jills to take longer on the nip training journey, but time is key here. You need to put time into your relationship and they should progress, but progression is not always as fast as we would like.

@@kingsdownferrets8485 Thank you. The jills started biting me from Day1, and worst when I gave them the first bath….they perform better now. I was in depression condition previously but now more playtime with them. Only my angora jill still thinks that my fingers are sausage but others know can’t eat them😂

I want to ask... How old ferret can mate
@kingsdownferrets8485
@kingsdownferrets8485 8 месяцев назад
In the wild in northern Europe a Polecat will be born in spring and will come into season and mate the following spring, so just under a year old. In captivity, they can be induced with artificial light, to breed much earlier, but this isn't recommended.

@kingsdownferrets8485
@kingsdownferrets8485 8 месяцев назад
@user-dn7ld3xj6k we live in the UK so ours come into season same as in wild, in spring. And I think they are OK at 1yr old. Some breeders even prefer to leave it to the next season, so 2yrs old.

So I have a newly vasectomised hob it's also his first season as well as the girls I not sure if he's taking the girls out of season or not they don't seem to be interested in mating anymore but her parts are still swollen
@kingsdownferrets8485
@kingsdownferrets8485 5 месяцев назад
It can take upto a week or 10days before you see the jill start to reduce swelling. How long have you left it? If left together, I'd expect the hob to continue to try mating with her, although she will become less receptive and fight him off more over time. Is the hob fully in season, and how long for?
