Ferret Owner: Deep Cleaning the Ferret Room 

While being a ferret owner is fun, it is also filled with a lot of responsibility. Deep cleaning the ferret room is just one of these tasks. Ferret are pretty clean animals, just like cats, they don’t appreciate a dirty litter box or sleeping area. And even though ferrets do a good job at keeping themselves clean, that does not stop them from being a bit smelly. Yes, I said it, ferrets smell, personally, it doesn’t bother me, but even ferrets who have been de-scented, smell. This is because scent still comes out from the oils in your ferrets skin. It’s kind of a musky smell. One of the best ways to control ferret odor is to keep their bedding and the area they stay in clean.
Giving your ferrets a bath WILL NOT help them smell better. In fact, it could make them smell worse. Over bathing a ferret will cause then to over produce the oils in an effort to replace the natural oils washed off in the bath.
