Thanks for setting off my Google Home mini when you did your math. 😉 Also, on a more serious note, is Connor alive??? Merry Christmas, friend. Looking forward to next year.
Thanks for providing me with great content this year. I look forward to meeting you next year! Have a great holiday season, and I'll see you on the lawn.
Watching you do all this work and thinking, you probably think we are jealous of your warmish weather. All of my stuff is dormant, so I don't have any work to do. Merry Christmas! :)
Well after a long day of yard work I was relaxing with a Troegs Mad Elf and what in my wandering eyes did appear? A new Lawn Care Nut video! At first I thought the title said Palm Farting Lol. You are quite the artist might I say. There is so much great content to comment on so let me just say Merry Christmas my friend I hope your holidays are as merry as you have made mine!!
Looking good Al, Great video .Merry Christmas and a happy and safe new year to yourself and your family from myself and my family .Safe travels. Looking forward to seeing some great content next year. 😁👍👍
I promise you, you will rue the day you installed Areca palms... As someone who used to think they were kewl especially as a visual barrier, wait until you have to deal with the miniatures (dropped seeds) encroaching in your turf grass but also every time the wind blows you’ll be picking up dead fronds and seed pod holder skeletons (you’ll learn what they are) not to mention the fronds shading the grass during parts of the year (sun angle dependent) killing the turf. Do you like bamboo, I hope so, Arecas are Floridas bamboo!!! (15 years experience with Areca dividers on both sides of back yard) Same with junk##s Queen palms BTW! THROW ‘ER DOWN!!! 👍
Allen, if you wet your patio down before you pour fertilizer I bet it wouldn't stain. Or it would certainly help the fertilizer come off in the event you did spill it.
WOWIE! I just subscribed to your channel!! You are soooo thorough! The absolute BEST video on palms and fertilizer!! I am very impressed not only with your video but your palms are absolutely BEAUTIFUL! KUDOS!!! quick question..I have one queen palm that I grew from seed..I brought seeds back from Puerto Rico last October although only one plant survived..I am definitely amateur in the garden period! will this mix work for my 6 inch tall baby queen palm that is growing in a pot???
Merry Christmas Allyn! I just bought my first house a week ago in Texas. Already been watching your videos for months so I can prep for a fresh start. Thanks for everything!
G’day Allen! Not sure if you have done one before but could you please please please do an episode on seeding in St. Augustine. Would be such a good aid for me.
The Lawn Care Nut sorry I meant when the grass itself goes to seed and sends up lots of seed heads. Not sure if this is an issue where you are but here in Aus it’s horrendous.. thanks in advance!
John Perry should chat with his container manufacturer and have them provide a pump assembly that screws on his bottles. It certainly will make things easier and eliminate those 'oh shit' moments.
Not questioning you, but most literature I have read over the years and gardening so-called experts have told me not to fertilize palms during the months of December, January and February due to the possibility of a freeze. The growth stimulated by the nitrogen would be tender and any freeze could weaken the tree by zapping the bud.
OK. First I was hyper ventilating when I saw the video. Thanks for giving this to us. Question... Potted plants. The super juice... How do you keep the super juice from draining out the bottom of the pot and staining the concrete/pavers?
Do u use any granular as well? Flora Greene isn't enough N or K as recommended by U of F. I use Palm Gain or Sunniland Palm. Any plans on a Yard Mastery palm fert?
Allyn, is it possible to make a video on cold dormancy (not summer heat)? We in Southern California have been having really cold nights (45ish for the last month, and doesnt look like it will let up for at least another month), my lawn completely shut down, I have never seen it like this before. Ive yet to mow in 4 weeks, it doesnt grow at all, just standing still (i have tall fescue (Marathon II turf)). Can you make a video on how to nurse a lawn like that to make sure it survives? Im reading to avoid fert because it will/can cause fungus? What can I do to keep the green? Its starting to yellow.
nothing you can do to stop it, just let it go. It's a normal stress response. The soil will not be dormant so putting down Humic Acid is a great idea. That's all you have to do.
Hey Allyn, I'm going through your videos, and I have a palm tree with rubber mulch around it. Is it okay to pour the liquid around the base of the palm? Will the rubber mulch be an issue? I've seen others use rocks instead of rubber mulch for "decorations."
22:00 I wonder if a 3% Hydrogen Peroxide spray (or directly) might lighten/oxidize those dark spots??! H2O2 depending on the percentage kills/lightens EVERYTHING. Just start with a few drops of 3% right on the dark spots. H2O2 becomes inert/nonreactive VERY quickly so you’ll see what it does ASAP
The NEXT products are already complex enough but damn man, you make the calculations so drawn out as if you’re sitting in calculus and way too over thought.
Hey Allyn! I’ve looked around but can’t find a local store for nice tall planters like yours. Where do you shop at for such? Plan on transferring some sagos and windmill palms into potters.
