I just ordered one of these for fun and of course in case of power outages. I'd never heard of the brand but immediately recognised the name as German and checked them out. There are lots of no-name Chinese lanterns out there for around £10 - 30% of the price of a Feuerhand - but I want something well made and reliable that will last for years.

The Feuerhand is the best oil lantern made today by far and worth every penny. The only advice I'd give to this video is your wick is way to high! Keeping the wick under the flame spreader will actually give you more light and keep your wick from burning up to fast. As air is ran down the air tubes it comes up from under the burner and feeds the fire with lots of cold air. Keeping the wick under the cone mixes that cold air with the flame and makes the flame burn higher and brighter.E very careful. Fire Hand is a Chinese knockoff and ain't worth a damn. The real German made Feuerhand is pretty expensive but the quality is the best. Dietz is also China made now too. If it's two words and says Fire Hand. It's not German made. If you are in the USA order from Lehman's Hardware or W. T. Kirkman. The real Feuerhand also uses a European style, metric wick. The standard 1/2 American wicks are to wide for the burner. Lehman's Hardware is the only place I know that carries the real Feuerhand made, metric size wick for the Feuerhand 276 Baby Special.

Recently ordered one after hearing dietz and finding out they were German named but made in China thin glass and thin metal. Looking like a good decision getting fire hand.

These lamps are brilliant but above all atmospheric and so cosy at night. They seem to burn forever on a tankful if the wick is not turned up silly high.. Had mine for a couple of years now and absolutely love it.

The wick is way too tall. Lower the wick so it is contained within the domed burner. Beautiful lantern. I have 4 but none in the olive color. Very nice

Nice. It's always good to trim the wick to make it perfectly smooth. Some also cut it into a upside down V shape but in real life it does not make a big difference.

I own two of these, a red and a blue, and they're beautifully made. Unusual to me because they paint their burner covers whereas others leave then galvanized or 'gold' plate. Of course, Feuerhand started by making a copy of the American Dietz introduced a few decades earlier. No matter, as there were several other great brands also made at the time. My biggest reservation with these is their tiny size. They're fine for one individual in a small room, but that's it. One needs to go to one of the large Dietz models, like the Jupiter (great) or Air Pilot (equally great) with a 7/8" wick and much greater output and longer run time. Fine review!

I've been testing lanterns for several months antique and new manufactured. I used Aladdin lamp oil and Kleen Heat kerosene alternative fuel. I love all of the lanterns that I have bought. The Feuerhand 276 that is a newly manufactured lantern seems to be my favorite. The Feuerhand is small and handy. It puts out great light with not much smell. I've chosen the Feuerhand to be my go to lantern 🔥

They're the highest quality ones you can buy so it will last you for many years with a little care. I have two that date back to before WW2 and they're both in perfect working condition.

@@mariohabits No, you push the glass up and blow the flame out, because turning it out might make the wick fall into the container below and then it is stressful to get it out and place it back into the turny thing
