The video really should not suggest a gap closer at Heart of Nature #4, as it WILL get you killed unless you wait for the exaflares to snapshot in the middle first. I trusted this guide and got killed by this advice.
Do you know if you can invuln his taste of blood (in case you freeze up on which way to take during that one)? The way he does it I the video makes it look like a small issue as he just walks through the middle easily but you never know.
I keep choking on the stupidest parts on this fight. I could flare star, yeah but I've seen it all and I know I can do it. I can't imagine how frustrating this must have been before Notoriety. Thanks for posting this though, it's been helpful. UPDATE: Finally got it!
So, yesterday, I was THAT guy. Ya know, the one who gets into the duel, gets ready, and then completely whiffs it right at the beginning. I don’t know why I froze, or hesitated, but the first taste for blood ended me, and I felt so embarrassed. I studied the fight, knew what was gonna happen, and then just failed miserably.
I feel that so much. That was me the other day too. I guess seeing everyone else watch me literally gave me stage fright and I whiffed it. Felt so embarrased I instance hop and hope they didn't remember me lol
Happened to me with Sartauvoir. I somehow forgot about the backdraft that comes after the first flashover. I made up for the mistake a couple days later, beat him on Dancer without a single reraise.
@@cruzh7171 Speaking as a player who lost out on the duel to people like you, DON'T sweat it. It's almost a relief that someone else got the fight, and I'm rooting for you from the sides!
I beat Lyon tonight. Thanks for the guide and the clear video. only thing I have to add about this guide is a consistent way to dodge hearts nature 4 without gap closer - bring swift and swift your way between two of the exo quakes on one side of the arena after dodging the expanding aoes. Turn around to see which side Lyon jumps too and continue to swift around the edge of arena once the exo quakes start going off to get behind him. Swift lasts long enough to pull this off if you press it as the expanding aoes appear at the end of the hearts nature cast bar
I finally managed to beat him. On the Heart of Nature where he immediately jumps for taste of blood, I don't know if its my connection or what, but every time the quake would get me no matter how fast I used my gap closer. I wouldn't even see the aoe physically hit my character. Just got super lucky with re-raises. I thiiiink for that one its safer to go around behind one of the exa-quakes instead of going through.

Superbolide does *not* work on Twin Agonies. I’ve watched this and another video over and over to where I know the fight quite well and I popped Superbolide well before his cast went off, then he straight up kills me with Twin Agonies. Time to wait to fight him again..
Feels like the recent changes made to Red Mage in Endwalker might actually make this somewhat easier for people who main that class. Now, we've got two charges for both Corps-a-Corps and Displacement.
This seems kind of silly. I'm all for challenging solo content like the mage tower challenges from WoW in Legion, but the number of mechanics in this video that were "do this or else you die" seems like bad design when attached to a fight you have a random chance of being able to participate in. Not to mention you apparently need some extra abilities which you might not even have when you get randomly picked to do the fight. Definitely not a fan of how trial-and-error figuring out this fight would be without a guide when it's on something that you have no control over when you're allowed to fight it.
@@rijsmiddel8765 Most likely it was people working together to figure out how the fight works. Which is valid, but I still don't like that design for something that's supposed to be a solo challenge. The fact you can't get hit by any avoidable AoEs to get selected is fine, but some of the mechanics in this video weren't avoidable, they were "know he's doing this ahead of time or you die" which is why you need things like the extra sprint and the invulnerability and the dispel.
@@RockR277 The fact I can refuse doesn't mean I can't say I think the design was bad. I thought the idea of a solo challenge was good, like if you know what the mage tower was in WoW you would know those were even harder than this fight, and I liked those. But a solo challenge you have little control over being able to face which also has trial-and-error instant death mechanics is not a good design, in my opinion. The mage tower had infinite re-tries.
@@Zakon673 I never said you couldn't say any of that. I was just pointing out that someone who isn't prepared doesn't have to put themselves in the pool. As someone going for the title, I agree that just getting in is a huge pain.
@@RockR277 Yeah but there is my problem. Without watching a guide like this, someone who is unprepared would have no way of knowing they're unprepared until they get wrecked by an instant death mechanic. And then they have to actually think about what they could do to prevent it and put it into practice, but who knows when they'll be able to do so again? Meanwhile everyone gets screwed out of the buff.
Ive seen casters and tanks that have ranged rotations like Paladin with Martialist clear this but I dunno what would be the best method for a MNK, DRG or SAM to clear this. Would Platebearer be better than Irregular here? Do melees do enough damage in the windows they have for uptime to not matter? I see Martialist Warriors doing more damage in a smaller amount of time than DPS, absolutely chunking bosses and mobs. Maybe Warrior is the way to go if you wanna clear this melee?
Warrior is an excellent choice, as most DPS lost actions (banners and slash) line up perfectly with inner release and martialist/bloodsucker give it huge damage equal or greater than most DPS
Probably shouldn't be recommending tank invulns when you haven't seen for yourself they work or not. I haven't tried them, even though I've been playing WAR, but it sounds from others' comments like they don't work here. I assume that means they also don't work for the other fights' "manawall this or die" mechanics. Bring manawall tanks!
Tanks can actually use invuln for Sartauvoir and Gabriels manawall mechanics but its just safer to use manawall and have invuln as a panic button if you screw up something else later on
Gonna leave some piece of experience here: I've read somewhere that you can use heavy tank cooldowns for Twin Agonies. Well, not really unless you're using another sort of defensive essence or something. Went in as a PLD with regular martialist essence and Lost Protect, popped Rampart/Sentinel/Reprisal/Sheltron and still took ~160k one-shotting me instantly.
so the thing about tank invlun YOu can't holmgang it because i tried it and it just straight up killed me LD ??? don't even try it. the safest way is just use manawall
This would be a great fight if the exaquakes had less awful hitboxes. As it stands the exaquake + ToB thing is not something I want to do again. Either ToB or an Exaquake would catch me while I was behind him every time on my clear. Also as a bunch of people have said, tank invulnerabilities do not prevent Twin Agony from killing you. They do prevent Taste of Blood from killing you though, so... maybe just use it to not do one of the ToB exaquake combos. P.S. Winds' Peak knockback goes through transcendence. Which is a good feature. If I didn't want to get thrown into a deathwall I wouldn't have been killed by doing Ravenous Gale placement RNG.
Damn, a comment that holmgang doesn't work on the tankbuster woulda been nice to know. I just did the duel and my plan was to just holmgang the tank buster and it killed me through holmgang with 3 full seconds left on my holmgang. I clipped it and watched it back. I die with 3 full seconds left on it. I can't tell if this was a bug or just overlooked in the guide. Edit: Nevermind, I now see it in the comments already. Edit an annotation in homie. RIP my notoriety.
Man I love this fight. It's amazing on how brutal his attacks are..from the Heart of Nature attacks, the Dynamic Flames and how they not only get planted but come at you in a directional dash like attack, how you can be pushed back when he's spinning his weapon. Plus he's a beastmaster who has tamed a giant monster named Dawon. Hope we see more.
@C V you're actually insane, they've confirmed there will be more limited jobs and these are the most obvious options. this is an objective truth its not really to be argued
if for some ungodly reason you still don't have the field note after a year since this comment has been posted, there is a set of lost actions you can use to deal a ton of damage to the boss, if you can survive about 10 seconds then you can complete the duel
Indeed it is. I used to use NIN in Rabanastre specifically for that mechanic. A skilled NIN would make this guy look like a joke. Just have to bring along the right lost skills.
@@anthonyburnette8980 I think it's going to be limited, with how much bozja is throwing beast masters at us. Idk how'd it work as any other class with it feeling like smn tho, itd be cool to have a bell as a weapon tho. There's no telling what's in store.
