I dunno, dude; Dave Wittenberg did a pretty good Kefka in Dissidia.

*+BHowardify* I don't particularily like, well, _any_ of the character portrayals in Dissidia, either, but I do realize that those representations were due to necessity: Square couldn't really put as much time into fleshing out the characters in Dissidia as they did in the mainline games, so we only get framework versions of them... (I also actually kinda _hate_ that they've increasingly made Kefka a source of potty humor...) That said, I also think Dave Wittenberg did very well with the abridged version of Kefka that he got, and he demonstrated that he could work a pretty wide voice spectrum into a character without a hitch. As someone who was initially bummed that we didn't get a Japanese voice option for the first Dissidia game, I was pleasantly surprised by Dave being able to do Shigeru Chiba's performance justice, and both of them were able to pull off Kefka's "Uwo-hoh-hoh-hoh--hoh-hoh-hoh!" laugh really well. That said, if you feel Kefka's psychopathic manchild tendencies was the problem, then your interpretation of Kefka is actually a bit off here (through no fault of your own): In the original Japanese version of Final Fantasy, both 6 and Dissidia, Kefka refers to himself with the first person pronoun "Bokuchin," a cutesy variation of "Boku," which is the pronoun little boys use when referring to themselves, giving off the impression that Kefka is, well, a manchild. Those kinda linguistic neuances were unfortunately not possible to properly translate into English, so we got a slightly more mature and probably also a slightly more menacing maniac as a result... But yeah, anyway, slapping his ass in the face of his opponent? Is actually pretty much in-character for Kefka if we're to take his implied immaturity into account.

...How is Zidane's voice "goofy", and when exactly did the light-hearted, humorous tone to him get sucked out in your timeline?

I mean, how am I even supposed to answer that first part? Sounds goofy to me, simple as that. I can't stand his voice actor anymore, does that same voice for numerous roles and it gives the impression that Zidane's less mature than he actually is. Of course Zidane's humorous - but you'd be dead wrong if you believed that was _all_ his character amounted to, which is all Dissidia portrays.

@@Dragoseye It'd be something along the lines of the one mid battle QTE segment in XIII-2' where Caius turns into Chaos Bahamut and starts flying around, not sure which fight against Caius it was though but I clearly remember it happening. TFW a game wants to be a movie (and while the story was garbage the animation and cinematography were f*cking AMAZING but that's Final Fantasy for you I suppose, graphics are one place the main series and its remakes and sequels never really disappoints (aside from that one FF6 remake that the pixel remasters replaced anyway)).

The cadence of his laugh was actually written by Nobuo into Dancing Mad's sheet music. Kefka's laugh is quite literally part of the track and I love that. ♥

@@DraconicCatgirl I wouldn't say rough. With good DPS you could skip most of the hard parts of Forsaken II. Forsaken I was "rough" but not really anything hard or being that way when it's the 2nd tier capstone of the raids. It's sad because now you skip all of Forsaken I and kill him before Angel Heads

For those that don't know or can't read the fight, it's STILL hard in unsynced level 90. Then again we had... maybe 4 people when me and a few friends tried to clear it.

No kidding! Right before 5.4 my static decided to mess around and see how far we'd get in the Omega savage raids with just six people unsynced (our SAM and DNC were doing real life things). In one day we got through O1S-O7S and had to come back the next day with two more people because it was just kicking our ass that much.

The whole theme was just so stunning every bit was not evil sounding but gave those god vibes because kefka believes him self a god above all else
