FFXIV Mount Ordeals Extreme: Purgation Made Easy 

For some reason my brain just cannot process the rotations and patterns fast enough to find the safe spots for some of these, but this guide practically makes it brain dead, thank you so so much!! You're a life saver!!

I've been using another method for 4. First I identify which of the two lines connected to Rubicante is surrounded by two straight lines, as the square directly in front of it will always go off. I make that square my north then position myself slightly south of center so that I'm safe from that square. After that, I go west if there's a clockwise rotation or east if counterclockwise and I'll be safe from the other square as well.

Best guide for a safe run yet. Because of hitbox size, i think melee can still get uptime too if they learn the lines of the aoes well enough.

Having a little trouble understanding 5. By ''orient yourself with the boss'' does that just mean facing the direction the boss is facing, and then just going east from there?

My brain doesn't do rotations, so this is a godsend! I wish I could like this 1000 times.

I want to say two things: 1. THANK YOU for sharing this and allowing me to even guide the parties I've been and feeling smart for once when it comes to these types of mechs, I can't do Zodiark in a reliable way no matter how much I practiced so thank you. 2. I learned this earlier but the two Purgations you get after Purgation 6 are the same from the 2nd segment, so you will be doing again Purgation 3 and 4 (blue cones and M).

Love the guide! For purgation 6, I am unsure if that is always a viable safe spot though. In your example, it works because of where the blue and red are. If they were swapped though, that wouldn't be safe and people would get clipped. Are the outside runes static for each purgation?

When you say orient yourself to the boss for P5, what do you mean by that? I'm finding it a bit difficult to know how to 'orient' myself on the video alone. Also in P6 would your example be shown be considered 'left' to the intersecting lines? If so what would a 'right' orientation look like?

Thanks for making the great guide. However, purgation 1 and 5 don’t seem to work all the time. What I found out works was from discord: Purgation 1: find the straight inner circle line. If inner circle is clockwise, directly north of the line and outer purple ring is safe, if counterclockwise then south and outer purple ring is safe. Purgation 2: same as video Purgation 3: same as video Purgation 4: same as video Purgation 5: find the straight inner circle line. To the southeast of the straight line and outer purple ring is safe. Purgation 6: same as video.

Are 1 and 5 boss relative SE/ENE or absolute SE/ENE?

for purg 6, at that part where you said the safe area is just past the straight line. in my pull that blue triangle was actually a red rectangle. so when it rotated and the straight lined connected, that whole half was unsafe. so it didn't work for me :(

Can someone clarify Purgation 1? Her explanation of Purgation 1 is very confusing. She's saying one thing, and showing something else. She says "A small pie slice directly SE to boss will be safe" Yet she's showing them standing in SW. Again, Purgation 5: She says east of NE is always a safe spot, yet you can clearly see the party move SW and not SE in minimap... If any of these are boss relative position and not "true" position according to minimap, then she should clarify this.

Unfortunately you're missing a few patterns which conflict with your suggestions for the final resolution.

fyi, I have seen some isntances, rare, but some where P1 and P5 strats will not work.

What are you saying at 1:09 I've listened to this part at least 20 times and still can't make it out. "For purgation five, orange resolve to the boss" ........what?

1st one is wrong. There is at least one scenario when a square is lighted south, so all south explode.

There's a method for 4 that someone told me that was even easier: Look for the fuse that will be a straight line after rotating. Go opposite side of it. Rotate with the arrows until you end up on the pie slice closest to that side of the semi-circle you're in.

This is not entirely accurate. Purgation #3 has two possible outcomes (symbols are adjacent, or symbols are 90 degrees from each other, and so does Purgation #5 (symbol can be triangle or square). These areas described here are not always safe. Here is another verbal guide. #1. It can be ignored assuming you are at full health, which you should be. If you wish, go ahead and trace the line in order to attempt to find the correct symbol getting hit. You can ignore this one because #2 is very easy to determine. #2. Find the V. The two pie slices directly behind it are always safe. #3. Find the V. If the rotation is CW, the triangles being hit are 90 degrees and you should stand in the middle of the V at max melee range. If the rotation is CCW, the triangles being hit will be next to each other on the right pie slice. Stand at the edge between them if you are ranged. If you are melee, you can stand at max melee range at the very edge of the left pie slice. #4. Think of the points on the purple circle as 'cat ears'. One ear is safe the other is not. The safe cat ear is the one that the arrows are going into. #5. Like #1, it can be ignored because of how easy #6 is. Assuming you are at full health. You can trace the lines if you wish to try and avoid getting hit. #6. Find the V. Similar to #2 the entire half of the arena that has the V is always unsafe. The easiest way for me to describe the safe spot here is just outside of the unsafe half of the arena, one line is straight, and the other is squiggly. You want to stand just outside the straight line.

Great video, but it's not 100% safe for purgation 6. Sometimes it'll work, sometimes not.

The strat for purgation 6 doesn't seem to work at all. The others were really helpful but the wording could have been better.

I tried all the strats in this video over the course of 20+ fights and I haven't found a time where they didn't work.

The Purgation 5 bit makes no sense.

If the square is north? Took me a while to realize the “fire/orange” is the “Square”. Guess this is for the colorblind players? Be nice if a team do the strats on the video footage… would be much clearer… 5-10s quick random video snippets with 0.1s of quick line identifiers with mismatched voiceovers Took a lot of pause playback and a lot of guesswork… to finally decipher what the guide is about 😢 somewhat frustrating
