@@cobbil Why are so many people obsessed with the idea that every major Voidsent character is an Azem shard? I don’t think it’s impossible, just not likely.
It fits with Golbez's character in FF4's The After Years content. He could easily hold his own physically even if he did better magically. But yeah, the twist revealed in the post story scenes (and can be picked up on via the memoria crystal right before the trial) really put things in perspective
Ah, the sheer hype I had felt for this inevitable masterpiece nigh eclipsed my anticipation for the fight itself. Needless to say, I am not disappointed. 🙂
I didn’t catch it until I bought the DRK PvP Frame, but Eventide is the DRK’s PvP limit break. Golbez used Eventide Triad/Fall and the animation is the same swipe. Kinda again hinting at “Golbez”’s identity.
That pose he takes before the fight starts, it's the same as one of the Heavenly Kings take and do in japanese and CHinese mythology, a really nice nod even though I do say so myself.
I stopped playing for the first time since Heavensward and they bring my favorite classic FF back T_T I hope I can make some extra money to come back before this content becomes dead. Thank you for sharing!
@@dye3355 Yeah, I know. I'll get the mount eventually lol Savage raids die so fast, I've never been able to do any "third" fight with PF, so I'm not missing anything there. I guess I'll save some content for the next expansion :D
So glad you uploaded this, the raid themes are all objectively bangers but this is no slouch either. Love how it incorporates Zero's theme (aka the ff4 overworld)
Literally there is a moment where in English version Golbez stays quiet where in JP he is talking This happens during transition when the dragon embreces his sword
Me: "Okay we're all gonna die." Reaper:"I'M NO FLOORTANK!!" Golbez: *PSYCHOTIC LAUGHTER* *moments later* "Okay so yeah I'm a floortank." Me: "I TOLD YOU!! I FUCKING TOLD YOU!! ALL FIRST ATTEMPTS GO LIKE THIS AND IT'S GOLBEZ!! GOLBEZ HAS NO CHILL!!"
Oh. Oh my god. This music. You all see my username. It goes without saying FFIV means the world to me. Holy crap this is just an amazing medley of FFIV music.
Hard to feel the full might of Golbez without his Organ filled theme 'Golbez, Clad in Darkness' considering he doesn't truly take you seriously until after Black Fang
I really DON'T KNOW how to deal with this theme!! At beginning it sounded like "meh another modern mess of what always have been good" and then the overworld map theme kicked in... my heart almost stopped! Since childhood, back in 1994, I dreamed to listen to this track player by an orchestra... Thought it never would happen. FF6 came, brought some with Celes opera... They gave another real step in FF7 and it never stopped - but they never came back to FF4 to give it the deserved love!! It was forgotten in the river of time, an old game left aside to give room to New stuff. Almost 30 years later, here is... and I'm happy beyond words. FF4 meant (and still mean!) so much to me, my fav theme is Overworld and I strumble upon amazing themes up to this day (from SE and others) but I always come back to FF4. Thank for this upload, it went through my heart like no other 💘
If we're able to get a special mount after obtaining all the others in this patch then we'll know for sure Golbez is the final one. If we however can't get a special mount for all the extreme ones that would indicate Zeromus as a possibility. Even so Zeromus could be a boss in a dungeon to close out Endwalker and lead into whatever the next expansion is.
@@OldSpaghettifactory89 To be clear, there have only ever been seven total mounts; three from the expansion's main story, one from its post-story, and three from a side story. That's not how Endwalker is styled; all six bosses have been part of either the main story or the post story. There is no Warring Triad or Sorrow of Werlyt. Plus, there are only six lynxes. We still need our seventh, and it'd be odd to leave off on Golbez when anyone that has beaten FF4 knows why.
@@MidnightWonkoMomBomb? Though I may be forgetting where we fought it in FF14, if it exists. And the 5 bosses of the Lunar Subterrane aren’t in either, to my knowledge.
4 is one of my favorites and while I think on the whole the fiends and other ff4 references were disappointing in execution. This is the big exception, the fight, music, and Golbez himself were brilliant. Even if they had to change VAs.
only thing i thought would have been cool is if the square platform rotated, and each side was a different kind of mech, but prob would have been too hard to rotate unless they gripped us in chains to move it like in zodiark. still a badass fight and i love it
Reminds me of Nergigante's Theme from MHW, where it just feels wrong when I don't hear its roar 3 seconds into the theme, it just doesn't sound right. Here, I feel like I'm missing Golbez's powerful voice lines during his attacks. Dude hit it out of the park.
I like how his music isn't even really trying... it's always holding back. amazing job. There are some major key stuff in there and even the chanting earth theme. yeah... well done. You deserve some bobels.
I even named my son after Golbez' real name, Theodore. And this majestic Golbez vid really brings back my childhood memories. Well. I hope my son won't be upset if he knew his Mom named him after her fav video game character. 😂
I friggin love this theme! It brings together three of the most iconic themes in FFIV together in a single piece: Battle with the Four Fiends, FFIV's Crystal Theme, and the FFIV Overworld Theme. Every time I hear the Battle of the Four Fiends in this fight, I can picture the first fight with Golbez with the Shadow Dragon. And then, with the overworld theme, I picture traveling through the overworld with Cecil as the sprite in charge. What a great way to pay homage to one of the greatest Final Fantasy IV titles ever made.
They could've done a bit more of the Golbez battle by having the organs of 'Clad in Darkness' play until after Black Fang finished, since that's when the music changed in FF4
I would've loved some version of Golbez's Theme in here somewhere, or am I just not hearing it? the two I pick up clearly are the Four Fiends Battle Theme and the FF4 Overworld Theme
Spoilers for the patch below but first a fun fact: Golbez has a sword in his Amano art from 4, conveniently the same one used here. So, with Durante being the current Golbez in honor of the original one falling and being turned into Memoria, they conveniently explain how come a mage was wielding a giant sword and how come someone else other than Golbez himself had the design of Golbez from *Nearly Throws Up* The… After Years… On top of this, given their aptitude to help those in need and even feel sorry for the hopeless, praying for their souls after their deserved demise, not to mention their odd lack of voice and first person perspective not done before in voiced echo cutscenes, odds that Golbez, the original, not Durante in his stead, is a shard of Azem now fused with Zeromus are pretty high. Very excited to see where we go in 6.5 and beyond!
This might not be the case as the WoL across his reflections is always going to be midlander male hyur, this applies to Tenzen too, and it’s heavily implied Unalkalhai the child hero from the 13th is the WoLs counterpart
@@shadeofred7442 This would not line up at all if you’ve done the Shadowbringers role quest and met Unakalhai’s first counterpart with him. Likewise, while Golbez is really really tall, Durante in the armor is ironically around the same height. The armor seems to give a boost. And yes I’m referring to the form we see after the fight that’s smaller.
@@shadeofred7442 So, not hard, but there’s so much circumstance that it would be genuinely shocking if not the case. Tl;dr, near identical appearance, both were strong mages, Unakalhai was able to learn the spell just from the aether Taynor was putting out, and both say that their aether seem extremely similar yet they can’t piece together why.
man it would have been nice if my friend didn't spoil the entirety of ff4 before patch 6.1 dropped I don't know how to feel about this trial at all even after doing it :c
It's supposed to be threatening with emotional hints (FF4 main theme) and fit Golbez n his story. Not all boss themes in videogames are made to pump you up or be catchy beats to listen to on RU-vid. They're supposed to serve the purpose in-game. A lot of FFXIV fans forget that lol Wait until you find out Golbez's boss theme in the original FF4 was not upbeat at all and mainly just an organ playing his theme.
I'm very aware how it's supposed to be but I just found the music overall to be very lackluster this patch and that's something I never say Game feels kinda stale atm
Nah you crazy. This theme goes so hard. I can understand the game being a little stale but the music is one thing about the game that hasn’t lost its touch whatsoever. I’d argue it’s burnout as well. Take a break and come back
@@teraniel2500 Why do so many FFXIV fans think that all music need lyrics?? Just because a track doesnt have lyrics doesn't mean its worse. Do you hate Zodiark's theme?? Like literally the entire Final Fantasy franchise is orchestral instrumental music with choir here and there. This Golbez theme screams Final Fantasy lol... not everything has to be a cheesy rock or pop song. Wait until y'all realize Soken's FF16 soundtrack will also be mostly instrumental + choir because its FINAL FANTASY.
