This video details how to Install a Fiamma 45s Awning on a tent trailer, specifically a Dutchmen 802 built in 1994. The awning is 260 cm but the roof is shorter than 260 cm. Unfortunately Fiamma does not have a presence in Canada. RV dealers in Canada must purchase through Fiamma USA. It is also difficult to find examples of installations of Fiamma awnings in Canada. Fiamma needs to start actively marketing its awnings and parts in Canada. This is a very good awning.
If you are trying to purchase one of these Fiamma awnings in Canada, I highly recommend the people in the Parts Department at 1000 Islands RV in Gananoque, Ontario.
There were no installation videos that I could find respecting installation on a Canadian or American tent trailer. There is a sales video at an Australian RV dealer at • Camper Awning Upgrade ... but there are no details provided as to installation methodology.
This awning has now been moved to another newer tent trailer. If you are a DIY enthusiast, installation of these awnings is not very difficult.

Unfortunately, right after I made this video, the roof lifting mechanism collapsed on that Dutchmen tent trailer, so I never got to see it fully set up. I had raised it and lowered the roof so many times while adding the awning that somehow I weakened my repair to the roof winch cable. (See also my video on RU-vid Dutchmen Goshen lift mechanism repair.) I thought I would have to scrap that tent trailer so I removed the Fiamma, but after the season my son-in-law helped me to install a new cable and now he and my daughter are using the old tent trailer and old awning. My wife and I bought a new Coachmen tent trailer, slightly longer, and so this Spring, post pandemic, I will install the Fiamma on the new trailer. I look forward to seeing your video to learn your ideas on mounting. The European mounting brackets are challenging to those of us who are used to North American awning tracks. Should we use the Fiamma supplied brackets or alternatively order one of the special ones (I got mine from the UK on EBay) that slide into a Canadian or US awning track? It is a challenge to position the bolts on the inside so as not to interfere with canvas and trailer door. I bought extra awning track from a Toronto aluminum extruder company.

@@StephenBiss I'll be installing mine on an Australian (where I am) '96 Jayco Swan (currently have an old torn and tattered bag awning). Should be very straight forward. The surface is flat and straight and I made sure I got the right size one for the roof. I don't foresee any issues.

Very useful video, thank you. Just one question, there now seems to be a slot for rain to get down between the roof of your trailer & the awning itself ? Is this the case ? Is it a problem ? Thanks. Chas

Yes, the Kit Caravan causes about a 1 cm gap. I haven't tested it yet in heavy rain. I will try to install the same awning on my new tent trailer in the Spring. I think it may depend on whether or not you can use the original trailer awning track - I couldn't with the old trailer (not straight) therefore short pieces of track added.

@@chaswarren7239 I tested your question camping with my new trailer last week. Yes, when there is a heavy rain, a small amount comes through, enough to lightly wet the screen below so we had to close the window. Prior to my next camping trip I will try to have a light plastic strip that is portable and fits into the gap.
