@93abm thanks! im trying to do the same thing in my car cause i want some trunk space..good video i had a different way of doing this but your way seems much easier! very helpful video!
@calibraladzz We welded some bolts behind the carpet on the car, then we cut a hole in the box so the bolt could go threw it and we just put a washer and nut on it, and they don't move for shit now.
Hey I'm still learning this so did you use fiberglass matting or the kitty hair stuff with the resin when making your mold? This video is very helpful thanks a lot I'm going to make a molding out of my backseat area in 99 Eclipse Spyder
@AbeGoesHam Yea the car had some holes behind the carpet, we just stuck a bolt on it and welded it on then cut out the hold on the box and put a washer and nut on it.
Okay so I'm getting ready to build two 12in enclosures and an amp enclosure in the back of a 99 Eclipse Spyder in the back seat area. So I want to make a molding for the whole thing or HP separate I'm not sure but what did you lay down to get the molding? You know before you started putting the fiberglass in the back trunk area to make your molding what's underneath of it is that just tape is it foiled? I appreciate your help this will be the first time I've done my own custom moldings I want to do a good job thanks for the video
one thing that wasnt shown i this pic video is who u secured the fabric to the back of the mold u made after stretching it... thats were im stuck at???
yeah I was wondering how you'd go about tuning an enclosure that you can't measure. is the fiberglass/body fill water proof? yeah? could you use water to find the volume?
Sadly the car was in a fire and is now gone, I was told that the boxes survived tho, but insurance company wouldn't let the guy take anything out of the car.
I'm doing the exact same thing for my 2 x 12" Sony Xplode 1000W subs I want to also get 2 x 8" JBL GTO804 and make a custom fibreglass box mounted to the rear parcel shelf ( I think that's what It's called)
someone said that if you fiberglass 2 woofers facing eachother like that, they will cancel eachother out a big and kinda kill the sound. I wanted to do this until I heard that, I had 2 woofers in a prefab box and was gunna switch them to a side-fiber glass enclosure like this. Did you notice that they sound alot weaker like this or are they still just as amazing? I"m wondering if I should use one sub on one side or do 2 like you! looks awesome though, what do you think?
DanVerona89 it depends on the size of the speakers, the frequency, the box tuning. just cause they are facing each other doesn't guarantee that it will cancel each other out just like them facing away wouldn't guarantee that they reinforce each other. there are many factors that decide if that would work or not. also if they are set up to cancel each other out then you would switch the polarities on one of the subs and boom problem solved
Nice work, I'm currently building one for my Beemer as well. Why did you sand them and cover with filler though? No need for that, if you're gonna cover them with carpet...
@TheNerdSwagg ight im down! dam you gotta hear the box i made for the truck, for 2 15"s they hit fuckin hard! next time your over here by joes house let me know so i can give u a demo, you will be like OMG!
1st I didn't want to put ports because I had no idea of the volume since the guy didnt want to take the time to measure it and everything. But he still wanted it ported so i just threw in some little ports i had laying around. then later he cut the hole bigger but it still sounded good
@TheNerdSwagg Well I didn't know that there was a law against this, you do know that this is USA, we are free to put videos or pictures. If you don't like it, then don't watch it and complain about how you didn't like it. Just leave dumb shit.
it was a good try ill give u c- for effort not bad if its the first time youve ever made one and the first time your used that type-r... if not, then u know u skipped a whole lot of shit and u would have know that not enough air space for that speaker...lol.. but i looks cool. ;)
