Hello, I just bought a 3 1/2 inch tall fiddle leaf fig tree & it’s pot bound like yours was, & leaves circling & some out the pot .Thank you so much for this very informative video , this is the best I’ve seen on this kind of plant. Now I’m going to cut the roots as you did & I have a larger pot. & better soil , then what it came in, because it was bone dry & I just watered it & the water keeps running straight through it. But it’s a very Healthy plant. Happy growing. Happy growing 😊🪴

Hi Tonia! I hope the repotting went well and happy growing to you and your FLF! 😃

This is beast fig repot video I’ve seen . Just one thing, did you continue to cut roots or did that one cut loosen them up?
@greenhousestudio
@greenhousestudio 2 года назад
Thanks Wo! When I repot a really underpotted plant like this FLF, I will make 3 cuts going up the sides evenly spaced from each other, and then loosen the roots with my fingers when I repot. The reason is to force the roots to grow in different directions. Otherwise they may stay in the tight circular growth pattern of the original small pot even though they've been repotted.

Learnt many things, e.g. why not to put gravel at the bottom of the pot. Thanks!

Hi! What a beautiful plant you have and the leaves are HUGE! I hope my plant grows big like that!! I have a FLF that I just repotted but my question is there are 2 plants held together by their roots (this is how I purchased it) If I tried to separate them would this cause too much trauma to the plant or should I leave it as it and just let them grow together?

Great detailed information. I think I can actually do this! Did you place a taller stake in the bigger pot?
@greenhousestudio
@greenhousestudio 3 года назад
Thanks! No stake. My FLF is free-range (in it's pot anyway :). I decided it was time for it to stand on it's own two roots so to speak. 😉

Mine is a year 1/2 too and 7ft tall. Can you please share the link of your beautiful basket? Also, at the beginning of the video you said you cut 6in on the top of it, I’ve never done that, any technique? Thank you so much!

Hi Diego! I bought the basket from World Market. Here's the post you need for pruning technique: www.greenhousestudio.co/home-garden/fiddle-leaf-fig-propagation. Scroll to "Taking the fiddle leaf fig cutting." This one's also helpful for getting your FLF to branch: www.greenhousestudio.co/home-garden/fiddle-leaf-bush-branch-trees.

Great information for repotting fiddles! I know this is completely unrelated, but your hair is beautiful! I was just wondering what shampoo/conditioner/products you use. I have a similar curl pattern to yours, but have a hard time getting my hair to look nice when I just let it air dry. Any tips or tricks?
@greenhousestudio
@greenhousestudio Год назад
Hi Paige - I somehow missed this one til now. Thanks for the compliment! Yes curly hair can be a challenge. I constantly rotate the products but honestly I've decided I like a basic Pantene conditioner because it has a touch of silicone that smooths it, especially for the back-underneath part. I use a light spray-on gel by Paul Mitchell, (Amazon) let it mostly air dry, then I use a curling iron to "de-frizz" - define the curl.😁 It doesn't take long at all since I only blow dry for a couple minutes to get the last of the water out.

My fig is producing babies she's root bound should i repot it? Please help
@greenhousestudio
@greenhousestudio Год назад
Hi Mell - sure go ahead and repot if you want to. You can also separate out the shoots and pot them up on their own if you want more!

Hi there! I'm still really confused as to what soil i need to replant my FLFs. Do I have to make a mix of my own and if so, would you kindly provide links to what you suggest? Otherwise I see a big box store selling FLF soil for $19 a bag and i'm going to need several so I'm trying to find a less expensive route. Thank you so much in advance!
@greenhousestudio
@greenhousestudio Год назад
Hi Michelle - there is no need to mix your own or buy a pricey "FLF special soil." Any indoor plant potting soil is fine. So long as it has some perlite in it for aeration - and they all do.
@angel.heart007
@angel.heart007 3 года назад
What soil mix do you have your FLF in?
@greenhousestudio
@greenhousestudio 3 года назад
Hi. I pot mine in whatever "potting mix" I buy. Not a landscape type soil, those are heavier, but potting mix - meaning it has some perlite in it, peat, and is well-draining.

@@angel.heart007 Exactly - keep it simple. 😀 And thank you. I didn't do anything special with it - didn't even fertilize. The biggest factor with house plants is good light, which I do have.

I've actually had to destroy the pot just to get the plant out safely without harming the roots too much.
