ehh the correct way is to never use double sided tape. i change out dozens of windows a day and the ones with tape are always leaking. if I have to use tape to make up the OA dimension I wet seal the outside.
Isn’t that the way most windows are manufactured with glazing tape? What do you mean by, wet seal, do you apply a bead of caulking to the glazing tape before you set the window?
@@thomassemich4627 no you shouldn't apply silicone caulking to the tape. very cheaply make windows use foam glazing tape. if i have to use tape(to make the glazing beads snap back on tight and stay in), I apply a bead of silicone to the outside perimeter of the glass to the frame. this prevents rain from getting between the glass and the frame. which is known as a wet seal because you're using silicone or caulking to seal it. that's just what it's called. insteaad of using tape you can use silicone sealant in the frame then set the glass into that bead. then put your glazing beads on. that is also known as wet seal/glazing. dry glazing is when you use foam tape, rubber spline(like commercial windows in stores) or a wrap around gasket.(used a lot on patio doors)
I have aluminum smudge marks on my glass. Does anyone know how to remove those smudge marks. I have tried everything including compounds to buff it out but they will not come out in that the aluminum smears and doesn't grind off.
