All modern Eagle Versions are based on the Strike Eagle Airframe, thus the backseater, the QA in turn is the basis for the F-15EX. I think the last single seat Eagle was probably a F-15J built in 1997, so yeah it seems the Mudhen can dance.

The F-15E is based in turn on the F-15D adding the avionics, stations and usually the CFTs.. the one in this video doesnt have the CFTs so that allready makes it better for BFM than the Mudhen.. as Wombat says this bird is stupidly slick

@@sparrowlt They even removed the wing pylons. The E and following also have structural reinforcements, overall the Mudhen is about 1,600 kg heavier (about 12%) and I think that is the value without CFT. It also has better engines the F100-229 instead of the -220, the bring the TWR back up, but the wing loading is higher, does not matter for this high AoA demo and the fly by wire in the F-15SA and following certainly should help.

Its funny how many airframes are going dual seat by default.. the EX is suposed to be flown single but keeps the rear seat for when its flown in strike missions and could use a WSO.. similarly the MIG-29K is made as a twin seater only (short of.. same 2 seat fuselage and canopy.. but it has single seat version where there is a fuel tank in the rear seat instead , same as the SU-30.. they still make the SU-27 single as the 27SM (SU-35) but the "top of the line" flanker has been sold only as a twin seater arround for a long time

Don't worry, Eagle guys have not seen an Eagle move like that either. I posted this to Boeings twitter post, but 2D thrust vectoring would bring F-22-like physics defiance to the Eagle. As for the backseater, there was contention on 1 or 2 seats for the EX in the community. I personally believe the back seater will evolve into a SA + wingman drone operator when that tech matures, hence the pushback from BigAF requiring 2 seats for all EX models. In the mudhen community I hear you can teach the backseater to hit tankers if you bribe him/her with some good beef jerky but I can't confirm, I never flew mudhens. Anti-social C 4 lyfe.

Back in the early 90s there were thrust vectoring prototypes tested for the F-16 and, I think, also the F-15. The performance achieved was mind boggling, allowing the aircraft to literally achieve -180 degree angle of attack, which is flying north and pointing south. These were 3D vectored systems, too. I have always been disappointed that the technology wasn't adopted for production back THEN. It was "relatively" inexpensive, costing about 1 million more dollars to integrate to an F-16, and a bit more for an F-15.

It's for VIP rides since every USAF fighter since F-22 is a single seat. The last incentive or VIP fighter ride will be done in either an F-15EX or F-16D, sometime in the 2050s if we make it there. Unless NGAD-A has a tandem seat arrangement.
@TheJustinJ

The New Eagle must have fully modern fly by wire. And almost certainly a further aft CG, closer to, or beyond the Neutral Point. This would be a logical improvement from a physics standpoint, given computer augmented stability. A more aft CG than required for natural static longitudinal stability is going to give an improvement both maneuverability and also fuel efficiency and range. Going from +10% Margin to 0% will likely double it's pitch authority and cause a divergent pitch rotation, only prevented from loss of control with the fly by wire system. It will also increase range by at least 5%, possibly 10%. Ditto for payload. Because You don't have a tail down-load to balance the forward CG. And therefore all of that tail down force is gained in additional lift at no cost. Great demo. Love the Eagle. Glad they are keeping it alive, as its the perfect platform for unescorted precision strike missions where a Wizzo can handle the targeting workload.

How hard would it be to add thrust vectoring to the F15?
@LRRPFco52
@LRRPFco52 7 месяцев назад
It's the original fighter platform TV was tested on, the STOL/MTD F-15 at Edwards in the 1980s-1990s. They did 2D and multi-axis nozzles. Multi-Axis was later installed on the F-16 MATV. F/A-18 HARV also had paddle TV deflectors installed on it for TV research. X-31 also had a paddle TV nozzle. TV adds complexity and weight, doesn't do well in extreme cold from a mx perspective, and has limited use outside of BFM and pleasing crowds. It was supposed to be used on JSF originally, but was dropped because they were able to achieve high alpha performance without it, as well as 28°/sec yaw rate.

@@LilSebastian_ "Reading is fundamental." yes, but clearly you lack reading Comprehension. Otherwise you'd understand that they'd already adapted MULTIPLE types of thrust vectoring to existing F-15 and did successful testing (both F-22 style vectoring and Russian style vectoring). They also did it with F-16s more recently (russian style vectoring). This MEANS that they could very easily upgrade existing F-15 to have thrust vectoring today if they wanted. And if you knew anything about thrust vectoring you'd know the nozzles are part of the engine, thus making it almost as easy as making an engine swap to add thrust vectoring. Try using your brain next time so I don't have to spell it out for you like a child. Logic is a great skill to have, you should work on developing it.

Can't have one. It is just too worthwhile. The USA wants worthless jets that cost hundreds of billions to develop, then it does not work when it shows up. What good is a F-35 if it has to have a F-15 to carry weapons? My opinion, we had then beat without the F-22 and F35. All we did was enrich the militarized industrial complex and got zip in return. I guess you could say that the F-35 gave us the F-15EX, so with that, it did serve a purpose.

Just a couple of cents worth of opinion if I may.The F-15 Eagle is one of the most successful fighter jets in the world, and it has been in production since the 1970s. As the decades have passed, the jet has seen many improvements to its design, including the addition of modern avionics and advanced weaponry. The latest variant of the F-15, the F-15EX, is the most advanced version yet, and it has been outfitted with many features that make it almost as capable as the F-22 Raptor. The F-15EX has been designed with improved speed, maneuverability, and range, allowing it to perform maneuvers that are very similar to those of the F-22 Raptor. It has been outfitted with modern avionics and advanced flight computers, allowing the jet to perform more complex maneuvers and operations. It also has the ability to fire long-range missiles and air-to-air missiles, making it a formidable air-to-air combatant. The F-15EX has also been designed to be more cost-effective than the F-22 Raptor, making it an attractive option for the US military. With its improved capabilities, the F-15EX could potentially replace the F-22 Raptor as the US military's primary air-to-air fighter. This could save the US military billions of dollars in the long-term, as the F-15EX is much cheaper than the F-22 Raptor. Overall, the F-15EX is a very capable fighter jet that is capable of performing many of the same maneuvers as the F-22 Raptor. With its improved capabilities, cost-effectiveness, and advanced avionics and flight computers, the F-15EX could potentially replace the F-22 Raptor as the US military's primary air-to-air fighter. Just a few irrelevant comparisons between the two aircraft. If I had to pick my weapon of choice. I'd find this to be a dilemma. Despite the stealth capability of the F-22 Raptor vs the F-15EX Eagle which has none. I'm glad you have 15 is on our side. The comparisons are as follows: The F-15EX Eagle has a turning radius of 3,000 ft, while the F-22 Raptor has a turning radius of 2,400 ft. The stall speed of the F-15EX is around 116 mph, while the F-22 Raptor has a stall speed of around 120 mph. The climb speed of the F-15EX is around 44,000 ft/min, while the F-22 Raptor has a climb speed of around 50,000 ft/min. Turning Radius: F-15EX Eagle: 30.1 m F-22 Raptor: 15.2 m Stall Speeds: F-15EX Eagle: 134 knots F-22 Raptor: 118 knots Climb Speeds: F-15EX Eagle: 66,000 ft/min F-22 Raptor: 57,000 ft/min Other Comparisons: F-15EX Eagle: - Maximum speed of Mach 2.5 - Maximum takeoff weight of 81,000 lbs - Maximum altitude of 65,000 ft - Advanced avionics and weapons systems F-22 Raptor: - Maximum speed of Mach 1.82 - Maximum takeoff weight of 83,000 lbs - Maximum altitude of 65,000 ft - Extremely low radar signature - Ability to air-to-air refuel and carry weapons internally I love you ! Thank you so much for what you do. I can't thank you guys. I am a fan of you all forever!!❤

Nope. The F-15EX will never replace the F-22 raptor. The maneuverability is due to it being slick. F-15s never fly slick in combat. When you put CFTs and external fuel tanks on the EX, it is heavy as fuck. Additionally, it doesn't have stealth, which stops it from being a day one first wave fighter. It's not going to replace the F-22.

@@Anderson_Hwang I'll go back over and reread what I typed. But I am sure I did not make that inference. Please explain to me where did I say that it was going to replace the F-22 Raptor. I made it explicitly clear that my opinion was completely subjective and made no inference to the F15EX Eagle replacing the Raptor BTW. I covered the differences in the stealth spectrum of capabilities.

The "And you're out of gas" comment is comical. The F-15 can haul more payload and gas that most any fighter. Who takes off first, more than holds their own in the fight, bingos out all the other jets and lands last at Red Flag? Who hit all the targets in Desert Storm that the Viper could not reach?? Answer - the Eagle. Who achieved Air Superiority? Answer - the Eagle. Nice swipe at the WSO. I'm sure you F-16 guys are all great fighter pilots and graduated in the top of your class. It's just too bad there were not enough Eagles on assignment night, and you had to settle for lesser jets! And Hornet drivers...what were you thinking flying for the Navy and Marine Corps? Spend a large portion of your life capping the fleet (very little tactics or training. How's the gas? how's the wx, hit the tanker)) and living with a bunch of dudes.
