it doesn't feel as bad as the first two seasons of SF5 imo. And SF4 had so much vortex that it felt even more washing machine/set play/rinse and repeat than 6. It's that 6 returns to neutral... then you react to the green glow and it decides the game. I don't know if it's better or worse than any of the others, but players are just solving games far faster than ever.
lol this is by far the most balanced sf ever Ryu just won a major . Idom playing manon for content at this point the game is perfectly fine every character is viable to win a tournament besides manon and maybe Kimberly .
Honestly I feel you the only pro player who still complain the game mechanic after a year. And for the fact, this game has given more expressive and more option for counter play than SF5 which SF5 has very few option for dealing 50/50.
Bro theres plenty of top players that complain about this game. You can think it’s a good game and still point out things you don’t like about it. In SF5 half the cast couldn’t low forward,DR to wall carry , then just start 50/50 pressure. DR is essentially a neutral skip which is cool but I agree that the game encourages risky play. Anyway who needs Idoms opinion when they could have yours an online random plat 😂
@@ultragalacticlightkick862 Dont worry man. Just because some people dont like certain aspects of the game doesnt mean that you are not allowed to like the game.
That lies man, play how you wanna play. Obviously there's a more optimal way to play, just means to play how you wanna play you need to be better. Thats how it's always been, Thats how i've always played. Since i was a kid i've always played games in what i found was the coolest. You just gotta be better than the people abusing the meta.
@@LordHollow Can you give me an example of a fighting game where the characters don't have an optimal playstyle? That seems to be what you're suggesting. Some kinda fighting game where the developers just give you a bunch of random moves and don't actually check how they work and somehow the game is balanced by magic. I'm pretty confident that at tournament levels of play there's an 'optimal' way to play every character in every game.
@@SonicBoyster King of Fighters. Many characters can be played various ways and if they do have a specific playstyle, they have the tool to excel within that playstyle. Clark is a prime example. He's a grappler, but he also has bread and butter combos he can use to inflict damage. On the other hand, Gief without his command grabs are severely handicapped in SF6.
@@SonicBoysterTrue! My biggest frustration with this conversation is that most of the people that have this grievance about "player expression" aren't even playing at a competitive level where tiers and optimal play REALLY matter. Even in the hypothetical you posed, if devs created a game like that players would still eventually find the "optimal" way to play the characters. This is mostly just a consequence of competition. Players that want to win will find the best strategy to win.
All characters play practically the same too. Everybody has a drive rush overhead combo or low into a combo, every single character IIRC - even Bipson has an overhead now. Rarely do I see content creators having fun with the game. Idom looks miserable, Deadaces looks miserable, SonicSol looks miserable(lol.)
"Every character plays the same because they can combo" is certainly one of the takes I've ever seen in the FGC, lmao. Cammy, Dhalsim, and Ed have no overheads. Manon, Ken, Dee Jay, Honda and Gief all have gimmicky overheads that don't work that well with drive rush and are easily telegraphed. You might wanna expand your list of channels to watch too. Brian, Broski, Nephew, the birds, hell, even Punk all seem to be having fun. Or don't. You can just keep to those who think SF6 is bad if it makes you happy.
@@Raxyz_0 My bad, replace Drive Rush Overhead/low with Drive Rush button, Drive Rush Jab, or Drive Rush down back. Colossal difference in gameplay right there, point still stands - everyone plays the same. Game is homogenized to the point it's sterile, I wonder what Terry's main gameplan is...gonna be Drive Rush button.
@@ultragalacticlightkick862I’ve gotten away with wake-up level one supers with Kim so many times by abusing the invincibility frames it’s honestly hilarious
Reminds me of an old Sajam video where the point was something along the lines of: "At some point you have to stop playing the game in the way you want it to be, and play it how it actually is." I don't understand the reluctance against abusing Drive and wakeup supers. He was known in SFV as the "two frame jab" guy. It's an obsession with "perfect play" that is unhealthy. Abusing gimmicks, unexpected options in defense, just overall being unpredictable, those are core aspects of _any_ fighting game, no matter how technical. Even Virtual Fighter has its moments where a "fucking send it" is the correct choice to win. lol
I've shelved SF6 mostly. I think it's a great game but overall it just doesnt quite click for me. Watching this video made me realise something. Strive got me into Xrd and I've since been mostly playing Xrd, having also completely shelved Strive. Anyway, my realisation, flawed as it is I'm sure: button into drive rush is very similar to YRC slingshot stuff in Xrd. So....why do I failing to enjoy and make use of the SF6 version so completely whereas I use and enjoy it a lot in Xrd? Skill issue? Probably, I'm pretty mediocre as a FG player. Maybe it's the whole stack overload in SF6 just making it hard for me to pick an option? Feels weird saying that in comparison to a game as overloaded with optione as Xrd tho.... Man, it's just very confusing. I wish i could enjoy being an eternal casual in SF6 and Strive much as I do in Xrd but.... I I just don't 😢
I really resonate with this in a way. I've been pretty distant from most current gen fighters except Uni 2. I understand that the recent attention that fighters are getting is a good thing and I really want to enjoy the huge community games with everyone, but the niche fighters always have new ideas and fun mechanics that are always nice to come back to.
Same here. i'm not really a fan of the system mechanics (feels a bit heavy for a sf, also playing with 3 extra buttons on an arcade stick is annoying for me). In Xrd , most of Yrc on block or wakeup , u know that ur opponent is going to press buttons to keep his pressure. and he can't 50-50 wake-up throw. having a good defense feels more rewarding and pleasant than in sf6 ( sometimes parry and Di look random even for pro play) especially when your character doesn't have a dp. Also throw loops... Aside from that. I still think that sf6 is a great game.
We're zoomers now, social media made our brain melt, you can't have a that kind of title and no explanation at all at the begining. That's twice now, not a fan of the new formula xD
Every fighting game is about guessing in high lvl. Wake up super is strong in every sf too... I watched this video and among the great plays u did, you left so many chances (especially with Gief's charging HP) to pass unchecked.FFs even I the scrub DI them! At this point I wish you pick a top tier only to stop bitching about sf6 everyday.😅 Don't get me wrong I like you as a player and I think you got some incredible talent.
Every fighting game IS about guessing you're right. However, well designed fighting games place the guessing in the neutral interactions where better players can make decisions with less risk and more reward than lesser skilled players might. However, when the guesses are simply low skill and low knowledge requirements of throw loops and button > drive rush, it makes the "guesses" more volatile. I'd much rather deal with "guessing" what option my opponent uses in neutral when those options are character specific. SF6 forces system mechanics into the neutral and the game is based on it's mechanics at every level. Go play a game like blazblue and you'd see how the "guessing" is much more based on every character and their tools, not drive rush and throw loops lol
I think she’s low tier, you have to execute to make her qualify for the op title. Mind you she’s my main. I just like a challenge. But she can get there at 4 medals
Sf6 is a fighting gacha game. Gamble for your life and lose to set play by characters built to win. This game is a simulation. Ima watch pros play, but I’m sticking to Tekken and smash.
