This was a GREAT GREAT instructional video that explains very crucial settings needed to configure ANY sort of portforwarding for applications. Great Job
Common ports are from 1-1024, so it is suggested that you pick something over 1024. I randomly picked 2050 because it was easy for myself to remember. The 2050 is arbitrary and you can use ANY port there, but I do suggest something over 1024.
Yo. Thanks for the vid. I needed to allow FileZilla through Windows firewal.. whoops! Your video helped. Also, I didn't need the port range 5000-51000 in my router settings. Just the port forwarding for 21. Thanks!

You lost me when you said "now you are just going to go to your router interface for port forwarding" . Sorry, I don't even know what a router interface for port forwarding is, much less where it is located. Whether it be Cisco, Juniper? Where is this gotten from? Off the modem?

I think if you don't have a port forwarding option like the video dude does (I notice that guys doing these kinds of videos always has a simpler set up than you do and naturally they don't include the additional steps needed, I think, to ensure maximum confusion.)In my case I'm using an Arris modem tg1672g, and it does not have a port forwarding option. So I selected firewalls and found a port trigger option. I selected add a port trigger. Name the file Filezilla. When it asks you what service type, TCP or UDP,? If you are like me you won't know which so select both. At 2:34 into his video I'm not sure if he said listing port or listen port. Sorry he definitely said the listen port--had to zoom in on his typing. At any rate the custom port trigger does not even have a listen port option anyway, It just lists input and output ranges. Maybe the best advice would be to try to find a video for port forwarding with your particular router.
+Kishara Brownlee I haven't used the program in awhile, but I just installed it now to check. It still has the exact same interface, with passive mode settings. Are you sure you have FileZilla server?
Can you make a video showing the configurations for the ARRIS SBG6580 I either don't have some of the settings you are showing or they are named differently and obviously look different. THanks

Yes, it is not recommended to leave the anonymous account enabled, and have a strong password for your FTP user account. You can also use a non standard FTP port as I suggested in the video, to increase obscurity.
Layerone thanks for replying, After i did the port forwarding with strong password and anonymous account disabled, Still can anyone connect after entering the password which is not on the same network?
You need three things to connect to an FTP server, #1 Address (IP / URL) #2 Username #3 Password. If somebody knows those 3 things yes they can connect to the FTP server from the internet, if you have your ports correctly forwarded.
2050 was just his personal choice, for no other reason other than it wasnt port 21. It was just an example. Any other number is fine too. Over 1024 is better.
