This video was shoot separately. I send question that Maru can choose whatever she's comfortable to answer.
I haven't put translation to vernacular words that she said so let me do that here instead.
Bastos - rude / a bad thing that is forbidden to talk inside the house like a topic of "sex"
Malaswa - obscene
Thanks Ru for sharing your experience and for answering these questions with all honesty! 😊 Appreciate you so much!
Hope you enjoyed this :)

I would agree with the mother comment, but although she said 'she doesn't have many requirements' she actually made it clear at the start of the interview as to what they are. I think the order is round the wrong way. As a single parent, my criteria is 1. Good for my son 2. Good to me 3. Good values. If you start with superficial stuff like "tall, skinny, handsome" etc, you're going to join a long queue which you may never get to the front of. Personally I would only date a single mum, because how they treat and prioritise their own child tells me 80% of what I née d to know about them.

I believe this young lady is right. A man who treats his mom well will most likely treat his wife well... as long as it is him taking care of his mom and not his mom taking care of him! I also agree with you both... It is a God-given responsibility for a man to be the provider for his family. Sometimes, it might be necessary for both parters to work, but especially, if small children are involved, a mothers care for them is so valuable. No one else can teach your children the values that you want for them... not even the grandparents, although sometimes there may be no other option. 😊

Please ask the same questions to older Filipinas. It would make for an interesting comparison.

Good follow up topic to your previous video. Maru was a great guest to interview, as she is clearly intelligent and very articulate. As to whether the man or woman is the "breadwinner" I tend to agree that the preferred situation is where the man is the breadwinner, and the woman takes the traditional role. But, as you note, that is not always possible, for example, where the man suffers an accident or disease and cannot work. In that instance it is clearly "OK" for the woman to be the breadwinner but obviously not ideal. I also think the idea of a woman working is a bit of a complex issue. To me, the welfare of the children should always come first, and it is most important for the mother to be with them in the home when they are younger. Once the children are older and more or less established, then certainly women can work and be the breadwinner if they choose to do so, and I see no problems with that. But hopefully, it is a choice and not a necessity. The initial idea behind late first and early second wave feminism was that women should have the choice as to whether to work or be housewives. Where the movement failed women in the West, in my view, is where it morphed into the idea that a woman was "lesser than" if she didn't have a career. And they fed women the lie that they could "have it all" in the sense of being a star career woman, an amazing wife, and a terrific mother, all at the same time. (Does anyone remember the 1980's commercial for Enjoli "Cause I'm a Woman"? You can find it here on RU-vid) and it is exactly what I'm talking about. What experience has taught us in the West, however, is that is just not possible to have it all - - something is going to have to give. I work with a lot of very talented young women in my firm, and they often come to me after they have had a child stressed out that they feel they are failing. They feel they are not the star employee, the amazing mother or great wife they want to be, as they are simply spread too thin. I always tell them to think about their priorities. Always put your family first, then your marriage, and lastly your career. It is OK to "tread water" at work for a few years or even longer, until the children are older and you can again concentrate more on being the star at work. We are living longer and retiring later, and it is a long career. No one will think less of you for prioritizing your family. Can't wait for your next video.

1980's commercial for Enjoli "Cause I'm a Woman" - have to look that up. Appreciate your input, DB.

Hi Jo. Very good interview with Maru. It is sad the number of single mothers in the PI, but it is not the only place. As far as mothers needing to work, I personally am not in favor of it, but it seems to be more common worldwide too. Sometimes though, that is what needs to be done, as it is in your case. In my case here in the States, my mom did work off the farm on occasion. It is enough of a full time job with raising kids, cooking, doing laundry, raising a garden, on occasion being a doctor, and countless other duties. I have much admiration for you two ladies, and so many others. Have a good weekend!

Should a woman be the main provider? Well, unlike in the past, more women graduate colleges than men. So i guess i would have to say that whomever is best able to provide the financial support would be beat to do so. I would hope the man would do everything he can to be that person.

Hello Jo 🤗 does your new friend speak bisaya or tagalong? I am glad you found a friend in such a faraway place. She seems very pleasant. Good talk, two beautiful filipinas helping their families 😊. And I learned a new word listening to your conversation.

Is there no child support requirement where the Father is forced to support his child by the government?
@mikebolin4311

Where is the father? Are there no laws there to force the father to help support the child? The parents do not teach the teens about sex? OMG, it sounds like the women are raising all of the children there. Do not get involved again unless willing to marry first. Strong, pretty and smart.

Another good video. Thank you. As to a single mom working. You have to do what you have to do, no shame in that. It is how you act afterward that is what makes the difference. Both woman and man need to come together to be a family for the children. Find a man that will accept that and treat that man well, he should then help raise the children not his as his. Make him feel that is is outside of the family circle and I imagine he will be less interested in helping to raise those children. A man has to feel wanted and needed to feel responsible. I wish you both well.

By your standard, since you don't agree with a woman being the sole bread winner, if your baby daddy/husband breaks a leg or gets into an accident and can't work, then you'll destroy your family unit? You'll take the child and find greener pasture? PS. Remember that in these modern times, men/women are equal!!!
