We are back in the Little Manila section of Woodside, Queens to take in some Filipino comfort food at Jollibee. Known as the McDonald's of the Philippines, this joint started off as an ice cream shop in the in the 1970's. Owner Tony Tan Caktiong also served sandwiches on the side and in no time, the "hot menu" began outselling the ice cream. Shortly thereafter, he pivoted to selling comfort foods like fried chicken and spaghetti, but with a Filipino twist. Fast forward to today, Jollibee now has over 1,000 locations worldwide and they just celebrated their 25 year anniversary in the US. With that kind of growth, we had to check it out and see what they are all about. Come along on this food adventure!
