Recently, President Duterte made headlines in the Philippines when he announced his intention to retire from politics once his single 6-year term comes to an end next year, even though he already told the media that he'd run for vice president next year. How likely is it that he's gonna retire and how did Filipinos react to this? We hit the streets of Manila to find out.
The opinions expressed in this video are those of individual interviewees alone and do not reflect the views of ASIAN BOSS or the general Filipino population.

In other words they’re using media not as a tool for information, but as a means of hidden agenda and propaganda to serve their personal interests.

If i talk about myself...my parents were behaving like a spy with me ..they used to keep their eyes on me everytime.. This used to happen when i was teen..now i am 27yr old and my parents do not keep their eyes on me... I got this freedom after celebrating my 25th birthday.. when i was in my teen it used to bother me but now when i think about past i feel like my parents were right... In teenage we make lot of mistake and some mistake we carry throughout our life.. my parents saved me from making such mistake...i am not addicted to any substance completely clean... hope youngster can learn something from my comment...keep in mind d*ugs can spoil your beautiful life... in return u won't get anything from these crap

The extrajudicial killings in Davao that took WAY too long to cut down on indicate that his lack of care for due process is a trend. I don't think manipulated is the right term. Its more on ideology and principles of proper governance; Right or Left. Algorithms of all platform all works in a similar principle. The individual "choose" the content he/she wants and the platform will feed contents in line of his/ her trend or preferences. At the end of the day, it will stem out on the individual choice. True, maybe several media outlets present dubious informations regarding a side. But that is only a fuel to the already burning fire. I recommend to also investigate those individual who are not EXPOSED to social media / no internet access and try to get their opinions on President Duterte. If given that without outside influence of media they still like the president, it would give an interesting result.

Asian Boss gives a holistic approach to each of its subjects. I have been watching this channel for a while and am always impressed by the varied subject matter it addresses - social, economic, cultural or political. From generic to sensitive issues, Asian Boss manages to present it in a neutral rational matter leaving the viewer to decide on how he/she feels about the subject matter. Also the team is absolutely amazing. The interviewer always asks pertinent questions without prodding with leading questions. I don't know if the team goes thru some training as the general public (during street interviews - my fav episodes) chosen is a good mix of young & old. As a citizen from Northern Mindanao, the drug war had a huge impact in my city. It made a huge impact sa mga kabataan dito samin. They are not easily persuade to use it since mahirap na mka access ng droga. Its not 100% gone but at least its not the same as before na makaka access ka na parang softdrinks lang sa tindahan. BuildBuildBuild - nothing to say kasi obvious na yung impact niyan. May mga ayaw din ako sa kanya like how they handle POGO, yung mga officials na hindi nakulong na reassigned lang. Mostly my complaints are to the LGUs na not directly to him. Despite a rough term such as Mt.Taal, typhoon, earthquakes, Marawi siege, pandemic, he still did a decent job and rubbed it off to some of the LGUs.

Honest opinion lang, hindi ko talaga alam if legit ba yang mga surveys or not na sa manila nilalabas. 62% really? Ilan yung sample size nila saka saan sila nagtanong tanong? Sa twitter palagi sila nangba bash kay President but with this small number of people eh how much do they really matter on the ground or in reality? May maikokompara na sila from past to present. Saka regarding sa corruption, just know the basic functions of a president. The Philippines is an archipelago. To really get a good glimpse on this subject, I feel it’s better to also interview Filipinos from Visayas and Mindanao (the 2 other major group of islands of the Philippines). Coming from Mindanao, I have a lot of things to share regarding this subject (though I can’t express everything on a RU-vid comment given the limited space). VisMin (Visayas & Mindanao) has been ‘neglected’ by imperial Manila for the longest time. During Duterte’s time, VisMin were given the much needed and proper attention (e.g. infrastrutures, progress, etc). As a Mindanaoan (person from Mindanao), he gave us pride and relevance which is a really huge deal for us (given we’ve been overlooked by the past administrations & people from Luzon). Additionally, the Bisaya people also ‘fully’ understand and relate better with President Duterte (e.g. his jokes, gestures and personality) because he’s from the south (which I think is reason why people from Luzon, like young ones on the video, misinterpret him at times). Rudy Duterte is NOT a perfect president, but he is, I can say, a really good one. I know, my comment would appear ‘biased’ to some (esp for the supporters of the opposition) but please do not discount my wonderful experience as a Mindanaoan during his time. We are grateful to President Duterte for what he has done to the Bisaya people and esp to our far-flung cities and municipalities. Again, I am not here for a debate or an arguement. I’m here to share my thoughts as a Bisaya, a Mindanaon and a Filipino. I agree with what the girl w/ glasses said that Duterte sparked that fire in us to be more engaged in our country’s affairs. Let us be engaged in a healthy, positive and constructive way. It’s time for us Filipinos to love our country more (not just a certain politician). May God bless our upcoming elections. 🙏🇵🇭♥️ *kudos to Asian Boss for a well-put interview and video

A lot of the interviewees and the people commenting on this video have a critical lack of info regarding Duterte, his admin, the situation in Mindanao, and the political climate before this admin. There is a reason he is still wildly popular compared to his predecesors amongst the majority of Filipinos, and it is not due to lack of education. I'm a Filipino so I pretend to answer it on tagalog langauage . Hindi tayo dapat umasa kung sino ang naka pwesto we are born to become more independent not become more dependent in someone else . Real talk kaya mahirap tayong mga Filipino not about toxic information in socioal media but ourselves we cannot what we gonna when it comes to facing challenge there some scenario that when some people talking about money they being rich they being wealthy because they have money so some lower class are pretending to dependent in government because they believed that they are being in position so that they being rich they have more money that they not thinking that their determination and hard working all this they do as to become successful but some Filipino's are not capable do hard working . I'm not pretending to become best but I literally know because I'm Filipino I born natively in this Country so they are seeing that don't working because they believe that President or Whatever in Government or talking about politics that they can save them in poverty , for me not they must be have discipline both inner and outer self but they are bing such angry when it comes to positioning for President and pretending to win so they gave dislike and bashes so what's the moral on that traits it's about nature or nurture. By the way I'm not a political person I'm just telling my opinion . @Grace Lee And yet both Indonesia and the Philippines have far LESS per capita covid deaths than the US, Brazil, Italy, or other first world countries. Literally only a fraction. Yet international media are making it seem like the situation is so much worse. More than 720,000 people died of covid in the US alone, out of 330 million people. Compare that with 40,000 deaths from the Philippines out of 100 million. And 143,000 deaths in Indonesia out of 270 million.

@@magicflour LOL. I'm talking about covid DEATHS not rates of infection in the general population. If you're in a hospital, you are 100% tested because of protocol. Thus the rate of covid deaths are accurate even in countries which do not have the capacity to test everyone. So explain to me exactly how the Philippines is touted by magazines like Bloomberg as the "most dangerous country" to be in during the pandemic? When literally only a fraction of people have died from it compared to the the average western country? And in comparison to other ASEAN nations like Indonesia or Thailand, the vaccination rate is roughly the same, as is the mortality rate and the infection rate. Mostly because western countries hogged all the vaccine supplies. Why are we "the worst"? I've read Bloomberg's article trying to explain why, and it still stinks of international media ignorance to me. The kind of secondhand international journalism that made it seem like the Philippines was a warzone these past few decades. The writers who singlehandedly s**ts on our tourism industry and foreign investments every year by painting a completely false image of the Philippines. Reminds me of that Global Finance magazine which ranked the Philippines as the "most dangerous country in the world", BELOW Yemen which is literally in the middle of a civil war. And their rationale? Apparently because the Philippines has more volcanoes, typhoons, and earthquakes. What kind of logic is that? And you, whom I presume is also a Filipino, believe them more than what you see with your own eyes?

Singapore Butchered and killed lots of people back in the days during their drug cleanups. Lee Kwan Yew had 0 tolerance for drugs as it will save the younger generation. Duterte is doing the same, and offcourse some innocent people will get killed aswell. In the long run this will make it better. 5 admins before Duterte didnt care at all about drugs or infra.. time have come for change. Enough is enough

so lets just blame the past admin and do nothing about it? I know WPS claim is already an issue before duterte, but my point is he could have made a stronger relationship between southeast Asian countries instead of receiving gifts from china. we are not asking for war by the way. It's just strength in numbers to deter the bully.

@@pqueolrac We blame the past admin for selling the WPS and we cannot go to war against China at this time. DU30's strategy is to strengthen our AFP, acquire ammunition and warships, and increase the salaries of our soldiers. Next, he started strengthening our ties with China and get the full benefit of bilateral agreements, like infrastructure, investments and like you said, gifts (esp during calamities). The latter will make a lot of jobs and will help a lot of people while the former will make our armed forces ready in case of an imminent war. I hope the next President will follow the steps of DU30 - make ties with China and convince them to invest more and at the same time, formulate strategies that will make our AFP at par with other Asian counterparts.

As a Cebuano, I would just like to correct that the third bridge is technically not a Duterte project. We all know dito samin na early 2016 na may ipapatayo na bridge. And through public-private partnership with Metro Pacific (ni MVP) meaning financed by a private entity at before pa nahalal si Duterte, na award na ang project.

Duterte is better than past 5 president in terms of law enforcement, peace and order upon his presidency he said he will focus on law enforcement, criminality and corruption while the rest like ecomomic, financial stability, healthcare programs will be handle by his cabinet, to balance the government he allowed some anti government to work for him. he also prioritized military officials to work as his cabinet to ensure that the government programs and development will be enforce properly.

Truth. (For context) The Past 5 Presidents: 1. Widowed Housewife - Couldn't solve the energy crisis, had constant coups and massacres. Initiatiated land reform but exempted her family's Hacienda from the list 2. Military General - Privatized almost every Government enterprise. (Especially the Steel mills, Phones and Energy). Didn't even get the money back since the 1997 Asian Financial Crisis happened. 3. Actor - Impeached for blatant corruption. Gave away smuggled cars and was exposed after offending his criminal friends (Illegal Gambling owners) 4. President's Daughter - Fairly decent ngl. Saved the country from the 2008 recession although she actually cheated during the elections according to wiretapped conversations. 5. President's Son - The Epitome of Retribution. Undid everything the previous president did, claimed credit for her economic reforms and imprisoned the Chief Justice for questioning his hacienda (see president 1). Was infamously known for being lazy and indecisive (see Noynoying and Mamasapano incident)
