Just saw Masaru's twitter 😢 Looks like he got physically assaulted since mid February and his nose got broken. He recently said the swelling has stopped so he'll make videos again soon. Just awful what this guy has been going through... I hope his physical and mental health get better. Wishing you the best Masaru! We'll wait for you!
I thought that this was so weird too. Maybe its a colloquialism, and the phrase "chinaman" has a negative connotation only in the USA or the west because of how it has been used in the past. I give the benefit of the doubt.
@@SpaceCircIes Supposedly Chinese immigrants in Australia would eat this fish with no fear of ciguatera poisoning, but I don't know Australian biases well enough to know if this claim was made in malice.
Its weird that here in Malaysia ciguetera is so rare that only a handfull of people know about it. And we did eat all kinds of fish including the fish considered to be the cause of ciguetera
Ive watched his content for quite a few years now. I believe its very informative and has helped me better appreciate the art of cooking and the value food has on all cultures. Even though I dont enjoy most sea foods. I can say Im much more willing to try fishy foods. Still have yet to find any i like though 😅.
Just like too say I put my order in for some tuna jerky I can’t wait!! Thank you so much for making available across the world. Hope you have a good day all the best Arron
WHAT!?!! That CANNOT be that fish's name! [i'm reading the English subtitles. I don't know the Japanese name. For the benefit and ease of non-Enflish speakers, i have left my comment below uncensored.] I know English isn't Masaru-san's native language (or of most of the audience, judging by the comment section) so please let me explain as respectfully and concisely as I can. In the USA, "chinaman" is a slur against Asian people. It was used as a catch-all derogetory term for anyone from Asia, especially if they were an immigrant to the USA. Im guessing this name came from the fact that this species of fish has prominent teeth, which is used as a racist stereotype of East Asians. It has fallen out of use (thank goodness), but is still old-fashionedly very offensive. I'm sure that Masaru-san doesnt mean to use a word like that. I think it would be a good idea to change the subtitles to say the Latin scientific name or something. [Im just a white guy, so if anyone else feels the need to expound on anything, please do!]
Ryūgūnotsukai onegaishimasu. I know they're an omen, but in reality, they're just a deep sea fish, so they're rare to see near the surface. This would be an incredible video.
it wasn't as exciting as watching older masaru videos where he intentionally made the food much more prettier, much more effort put into it. Today's video is kinda sped up, to me feels like this channel is not his first priority anymore
Ummm, no and no.....I can't think of one time I was sitting around thinkin I wished I had ciguatera poisoning so, lets go fishing! At my house we like to think we live on the edge sometimes but, it's called bowling! Let the good times roll! 👍
