So, it is not about "the weapons". Mac simply is a bad QB. And let me remind you guys that Mac in his first year was in training wheels. Once they took the training wheels off, he fell off.
As a Pats fan I'll tell ya we played that last drive to tie it not to win. We are tanking. That's why Mac was out there we want that nice high draft pick.
Mac Jones is under so much pressure not to make a mistake, That its driving him to make mistakes. It`s New England and no matter how hard you try to detach yourself , You are Tom Brady`s successor......Incredible pressure, Fair or not.
Patriots had the weakest schedule by strength in the NFL in 2021.. Stat Muse Ranking #1 , 12 games against 10 NON Playoff Teams.. Macs Jones value was beyond exaggerated and embellished. 13 people who agreed with obviously don't have a clue about football
Turns out that Mac simply wasn't very good. His rookie season was an anomaly only because the rest of the NFL didn't have any tape on him. It happened to Sanchez, it happened to Brock Osweiler, it happened to Mike White, it happened to a lot of quarterbacks. Once defensive coordinators get tape on you you find out very quickly whether you belong in the league or not.
@@bullymaguire921He's had decent games against the blitz. But, he tends to lock onto the first receiver, can't slide around in the pocket, and throws in a panic if things aren't perfect. So, the defense only needs to collapse the pocket to make his freak out. A blitz isn't necessary. A stunt upfront is enough to blow things up. The minute the O-Line has to shift their coverage, he panics.
Mac wasn’t broken by NE. His has below average athleticism in terms of poor arm strength and limited mobility and first year was an outlier. In year 2 and 3 those limitations are being exposed, his mechanics are terrible, decision making is poor and throws are inaccurate.
No question, Mac Jones is done in New England. The question is whether or not he could have a career resurrection somewhere else and I would say he definitely could but it's going to take some self reflection and the desire of another team to bring him in (because there will always be coaches out there that say "I could fix this guy"). The problem is probably a combination of the Pats offensive coordinator hokey pokey/personnel/and the mental makeup of Jones and his confidence himself that we are seeing. Great breakdown of some of these concepts and routes---and inexplicably a lot of these throws that are being made are coming from a guy that has zero confidence (sort of like a Rick Ankiel or Chuck Knoblach type thing) and zero belief. You can have all the talent in the world or whatever you want but if your body language and confidence aren't there (in addition to mentally you've got to believe in yourself) then it's going to wear you down. Jones may be done with football altogether we don't know--but look no further than Geno Smith as a guy that flamed out where he was originally drafted then reemerged elsewhere. Here's hoping the guy doesn't give up--but you never know! One thing is for sure if he wants to continue on in his football career it''ll definitely have to be elsewhere!
not a Pats nor 9ers fan, but still like comparing apples to oranges. Pats have been a dumpster fire of an organization since Jones' rookie year while the 9ers have pretty much stayed the same. The 3 games that Purdy lost his weapons to injuries, he lost 3 in a roll and didn't look that good. The one trait that favors Purdy now is he looks so much more comfortable and confident in his surroundings and that is on the 9ers stable organization. He would not look like that if he was on the Bears.
@@cc352 In that *If, Could'a, Would'a* hypothetical scenario I can tell you this as a huge Big 12 fan Purdy would look a Hell of alot better on the Bears than Jones ever would. It's astonishing that Purdy was picked last in the draft. He's the best QB to come out of Kansas in 100 years and just may end up the best QB to ever come out of the Big 12. He's the poor man's equal to the Wolverines Brady. And i know my college football
Most QB's don't make it as there's nothing to feel bad about . Just to make it to the NFL alone is a huge accomplishment when you think of all the high school QB's that don't even make it to college and he did make millions doing so.
Honestly i think belichik has just destroyed the mans confidence. Both quarterbacks have only gotten worse over time since starting there. That doesnt feel like an issue with the players, that feels like an issue above them.
The 2nd pick and even the first - did the receivers run the wrong route? Esp the second - was he expecting the receiver to cut inwards instead of going up, as the receiver did? That seems like a miscommunication, assume the linebacker was not there, why would Jones throw it over there when the receiver is now a few yards downfield? It seems obvious to me that he expected the receiver to bend inwards. So I think this is more a case of the receiver not running the wrong route not Mac's fault On the first pick, either the ball sailed or he expected the receiver to keep going forward - my bet is on the sail - he simply does not throw deep very well
That play at ~6:30 with the deep ball to a go route on the sideline is like beyond stupid. The CB has safety help deep so how is a go route supposed to work there? Mac instead of at least throwing it closer to the sideline so the safety can't get there and it's a backside fade to the WR, actually throws it straight and right to the safety and if the WR doesn't extend his hand its a sure pick. In that play there should be a player running some route to the middle to take advantage of that safety giving help to the CB on the sideline. They must be tanking, otherwise these plays and their execution make no sense...
Oh God I can't keep doing this. This is timed pass patterns to recievers to a certain spot. The reciever disnt get to the right spot. And understand today's coaching don't allow one on one with QBs and recievers. So the ball is in the air and it's the recievers have to abide by timing and spot.
He sucks. Literally got a lot of the same problems as Mac Jones but worse cause he's only 5'10. But yeah...weak arm strength. Sketchy accuracy over 10 yards. Not even making legit pre snap reads to help himself put. The OL and WRs are getting way too much blame for things he doesn't do well.
He’s not good. But he’s had 3 offensive coordinators in 3 years. He also has the worst receiving corps in the league and one of the worst O-lines. I don’t think he ever could have been great, but on another team in a better situation he might have had a chance to be good
His O-line is not as bad now as it was at the beginning of the season. They've made their fixes and it shows in their run blocking which is rather good to be honest.
With the way the Giants blitz -- frequently 1 or 0 safety and man defense, running the ball is sort of the classic counter. The Giants aren't stacking the box: they're bringing lots of pressure from the left and the right, so if your line can create a crease the rb can put the whole defensive front behind him. I don't love it at 3rd & 9 as the go-to play, but it's worth doing once in a while., But that's the difference between the Pats offensive line and the Jets': when NY played NY, the Jets kept trying to run between the tackles against that exact defense, and Breece Hall ended up with 19 yards in 10 attempts. Which is clearly Zach Wilson's fault, obviously. I was going to defend the play at 4:00 as being a really tough situation until I saw the throw. Ugh. Yeah, I'm like you with the Pats, although I don't like Belichick. Too many ethically questionable episodes during his tenure. But the Pats have a pretty good fanbase. Like yeah, there are folks who are just "Seven ringz, baby" to everything (also, why do Pats fans count Brady's ring in Tampa Bay?), but some of the best conversations about football have been with Pats fans. And my team is the Jets, so I'm predisposed to dislike them, but sports knowledge should be recognized and encouraged. So here's to you, Pats fans. Some of you have got deep knowledge of the game.
Mac Jones hadn’t developed into an NFL Quarterback that fast. He was grossly overrated. He started hanging out with Robert Kraft and his home. He then got to rob Cam Newton of the job. Bill B wanted Cam to finish out his 1yr contract first, b4 Mac came to be QB1. The NE Media hated Cam. Kraft promised Cam a real try after he re-signed him, who is Brady’s 1st successor ! He told Cam he’ll get him weapons! Mac never beat out Cam. They lied. If Mac had waited 2-3 yrs to be QB1, he wouldn’t have crashed from overload. A lot of players don’t like him because he’s a real bad dirty player ! Why didn’t he tell Kraft he wasn’t ready? Why did Mac allow Cam to be treated dirty like that? He was all in on it, too. Look how ugly his career is now. He’s 2-9, in 2023. He’s 6-9 in 2022! 🙄😳😱😞
